Hi! I'm wondering if pocket 3 is capable of keeping the level/horizon during turns and if there's any tilt going on when accelerating/decelerating? The gimbal I currently have is pretty much unusable in a moving car. Thank you!
Hey bro how are you? Yes you can set the gimbal to tilt-lock (pan only) this way the camera doesn’t tiltvanything, keeping the horizon level. Which one are you using right now? Let me check into it :) ps: you can watch one of my latest videos where i shoot car rollers with this camera. Might be helpful for you and the question you have
@@TheCarVideoGuy Thank you! I'm good, hope you are too! Currently I film lots of dashcam-style videos with an iphone, mounted on an Amazon metal grip attached to a gopro mount, attached to a windshield from the inside. Nothing fancy, and not a setup that can be safely mounted to the outside of the car. Although maybe, lol. I was really into waiting for the newest DJI Osmo Action 5 (4 doesn't do HDR and is inferior to pocket 3 quality wise, smaller sensor) but now it sounds like the new one won't have a sensor upgrade. What a shame. Thus, I was thinking of Pocket 3 mounted on the outside of the car. Your setup looks rad! The problem is, I tend to deal with lots of bendy roads in the mountains. And also I really want my setup to be drifting compatible, so really sturdy and with a locked in angle. I've got some 4 year old 2nd-tier gimbal I've got off of local craigslist, but I tried filming from a passenger seat and it would rotate up to 45 degrees or so on mild highway bends. I imagine all gimbals work off of a gyroscope so any sort of motion confuses them. I haven't tried a "POV mode" where it's locked to the direction of the handle, that could probably work better. I was wondering if pocket 3 is different in terms of handling the bendies or if I'd also be limited to a kind of "pov mode". I'll check out the video you mentioned!
@@TheCarVideoGuy I'm good, thank you! Hope you are too! My current setup is on the inside, dashcam style but windshield flares are getting annoying. I was thinking of an outside setup for some time now. There are nice 3-suction-cup+stick setups that can handle action and 360 cameras. Osmo Action 5 sounded good until leaks that it won't have the same sensor of Pocket 3. Not much of an upgrade over Osmo 4 then. What a shame. So I started thinking of Pocket 3 again. But the old second-tier gimbal I have now was getting really confused by g-forces when I tried filming from a passenger seat. Rotating up to 45 degrees on mild hiwhay bends. I started wondering if all gimbals are the same. I didn't try out the "POV" mode though, one that locks in the camera to the gimbal handle - that could have worked, although i'd be losing horizon leveling. I deal with a lot of twisty bendy roads; I also want the new setup to be drifting-compatible, so pretty much a locked-in angle; I'd also love to take it snowboarding for my other channel. I pretty much need an action camera with pocket 3 sensor 🤣 so in this case the gimbal is a bit more of a nuisance than an asset. I realize that's a lot of questions. I'll probably rent one and test out 🤣
Hey man, well it happens once in a while yea, that my ipad loses connection with the camera, altough the osmo pocket keeps filming and my connection comes back after a few seconds. But nothing too bad for me personally. How about you? What happens?
Hi bro, i usually take shutter speed (close to) double the frame rate so if frame rate is 24 ill take 1/50, that gives the most natural motion blur. Check 180 degree shutter rule for more info :) You could go faster or slower depending on what you want to achieve. But for this video i needed the motion blur in the background to feel the speed in the video :)
@@TheCarVideoGuy I haven’t actually tried it yet, the surface is obviously not smooth so I fear it won’t hold or leak, even if it does hold I still wouldn’t personally trust it. I will test it out when I receive my unit and I’ll report back.
