The picture quality, clear audio, and ease of use make this a great choice. The 55.00 2yr warranty seems very reasonable given the sensitive nature of the equipment. Definitely seems like a worthwhile investment for your channel. Onward and Upward!
Happy to hear your funny thoughts on switching to the Pocket 3. I love the Pocket 3 as well and it has been my best purchase bar none. I've also invested in the Action 4 too since the Mic2 that came with the Pocket 3 works with it and then I have the best of both worlds. The Action 4 on its own paired with the Mic2 is heaven sent especially when it rains. Furthermore, the Mic2 works with both my Android and iPhone as well. Love my setup now when I travel and vlog on my main channel.. all very portable and the video quality is superb like you said.
I'm satisfied with my purchase of the Pocket 3 and yes I did get the extended two-year warranty. You get stable footage, great lowlight performance (thanks to the 1 inch sensor), audio is good from the mic. I would say this is the best vlogging camera of the year.
Very good review, so technically savvy you have become. Impressive! I agree with you on the warranty stuff. Looks like a nice camera! I hope it gives you many years of joy! 👍👍👍
I've still got the pocket 1. Never had a problem and still use it for underwater shots. The 3 is simply beautiful and amazing . And the good thing about the " care and the refresh" warranty is, if it starts getting scratches and things. You can, for a small cost send it back and get a new one...TWICE 🇬🇧
I'm just getting used to mine too. It's great. The dji mic 2 will now work with action 4 too so I'd be binning gopro. I have the 11 and 12 and to be fair I have none of the issues you have but external audio faff is enough to swap. I'll keep one for nite lapses etc. Yeah strangely they are good for that and the pocket 3 doesn't have a long enough exposure time. Last point, in your final shots the audio was very clicky. I dunno if you recorded it too hot or some post noise reduction process did it. Enjoy the pocket 3, I'll be watching for vloggy tips!
Thanks Pete, excellent comments. I switched between audio of the dji mic 2 and the wireless mic that came with the pocket 3 (which is what you heard). I haven't adjusted the settings yet, that was straight outta the box and it was very windy when I shot, so have to play with it to get it right.
I started thinking you were just being negative, apologies for that. I agree with you the pocket 3 is amazing and i waited a year from when all the hype suggested it was going to be released, we had DJI drones listed in the interim. There is one thing i would say with regards to GoPro i have the 12 black, importantly it is water proof which the pocket is not, i do not do vlogs, my footage is for my wife and I to enjoy as memories. I will be taking both cameras to Lanzarote next week hopefully filming Whales and Dolphins let’s see what the weather is like. Thank you for your review, i always appreciate people who take time to help others, happy holidays.
Wow, Canary Islands nice, that sounds like an exciting trip! Thanks for the kind words my friend. Enjoy your adventure and safe travels. Happy Holidays!
Just got mine last week. Seems like the perfect setup for what I do. My biggest worry is the case. Specifically, the op3 screen being damaged by the case. There are a lot of reviews from people with broken screens and they all seem to think it's the case. Easy fix for me, just dont use the case, 😂. Thanks for uploading.
No doubt my friend! Up there in the great Smokies, the footage would be awesome. I'm not crazy about the case concept either. I think they could've come up with something better. My guess is the pocket 4 will have a new case design.
@@BarefootVlogger I hope I'm able to get some good clips of the smokies. I have the dji a vata now, but it's tough trying to find a place to fly that showcases what the Smokies are about. Thankfully I know the backroads very well, just hope I dont come across any moonshiners or anything like that, 😂 If I had to bet, I would say that dji is redesigning the case for the pocket 3. . . or maybe there will be a good 3rd party case soon.
Omg when you said "Lido" I thought of 70's Boz Scaggs. (I'm 59) Raleigh native. Me/sis went to Wilmington Xmas celebrated w/neice husband. Hope you had great Christmas!! Happy New Year! Thank you for all your time/videos. We SOOOO appreciate it! Love you ❤
Excellent advice about the warranty. -- I have the Pocket 2, and as waiting and waiting for a firmware update for face tracking. DJI was mute and it never came. It seemed to be ignored. -- Not buying the Pocket 3, but enjoyed watching your long lead-in to the Pocket 3. Well done.
Love seeing these videos in south Florida. I used to live in Delray. Now in lake sorrh. Where youre sitting with the pocket 3 on that fountain, ive done a few photoshoots there.
Congrats on the new camera. The picture clarity and audio are great and much better. I'm sure you will love it. Happy Vlogging. Onward and upward as you say.🌴🌴😎😎
I got 2 batteries ripped off just like yours in a GoPro, I know the feeling. I always go for 60fps... The thing that I hate the most is the Quick app... I just started using Pocket 3.. OMG, those night shots are CRISP. ... I opted for the warranty, sharing your line of thought.
Thanks TP! I like the 60fps too (but hate the files lol) I think a lot of creators shoot in 4k but then render down to 1080. I typically reserve that for any longer vlogs because they can take forever to upload and process.
Gimbal failure never seems to be discussed on RU-vid or the relevant forums (in respect of the P3 or previous models) so compared to other issues which are discussed - in relation to a tiny percentage of the sales - it's not a big worry to me.
This is yet your best quality looking video, thanks to the Pocket 3! That little camera is definitely above everything else I’ve seen so far with all the Vloggers I watch. It blows away the iPhone 14/15 in my opinion.
Great Camera.. Get the Osmo Action 4 for Action Camera.. i was between GoPro12 or Osmo Action 4 but heard DJI has better review. Now you help me make the right decision.. DJI are better. THANKS Terry. Hope to see you around this weekend. Happy Holidays.
Just tripped across the channel. Good to see someone local. At least it looks like you're in South Florida. I'd guess Boca or Delray trying to place the scenery.
Waiting is never a bad option James. It paid off for me with the pocket 3. Good news is there's so much competition now for Gopro hopefully it forces them to put out a more reliable product.
I'm the same. I don't buy extended warranties, but the terms of the DJI one re pretty good, up to 4 replacements, for a minimal fee, for accidental damage. I hope I never need to use it, but I'm covered, if I do.
Good luck with the new Dji 3 camera Terry. Seems like everything made today is disposable but there are third-party people or companies that specialize in repairing disposable products. Let's hope you don't have to go there with your 2 year warranty.
Hi Terry, hows it going in Florida? yeah i totally agree with regard to buying an extended warranty, i did the same for this laptop i am using, and my toyota which includes roadside assist, and my lanlady has 3 year mechanical insurance on her vehicle, good advice brother, for a small extra $ but peace of mind
I haven't seen any RU-vid videos by people who have the Pocket 1 & 2 indicating they had gimbal failure. I don't expect this to happen with my Pocket 3 but have taken out the insurance policy for peace of mind.
I have pocket 2 and an iphone 14 (not to mention a mirror less camera, a Ronin-SC, a gimbal for iphone, also a DJI, osmo 6, etc).. I love iphone’s cinematic mode.. I saw a few reviews and they say Pocket 3 does have some movement on the z axis.. so my question is how well does iPhone’s cinematic mode (without external gimbal) compare with pocket 3 in terms of stabilisation..
From my experience, the iphone's not bad without a gimbal--except for during livestreams--where a gimbal is imperative. There's no comparison between the iphone and pocket 3 when it comes to stabilization because iphone enhanced stabilization uses a crop, whereas pocket 3 is on a 3 axis gimbal. Not only does the iphone downgrade max resolution to 2.8k but it also loses image quality in lower light. I found the cinematic mode to be buggy. Last time I tried it the files were stuck on 0% in processing so I just threw in the towel.
@@BarefootVlogger thank you sir for the detailed response.. subscribed! so when I use iphone cinematic mode and make a reasonable effort to be steady for those slow walking shots, I do get pretty good stabilised footage with minimal to no vertical movements.. wanted to know if for the same commitment level with this gimbal, would I be getting a comparable footage (purely in terms of smoothness and stabilisation on all axis) as I do on the iphone or it would still have those vertical movement corresponding with the foot movements..
Thanks for joining me! In my opinion, you will be getting better footage from the pocket 3 because it's not cropped and is true stabilization through use of the built in gimbal. Also, you won't have to be as careful when walking and it will still be an improvement over the iphone. P.S. I'd like to make it over to India one of these days.
@@BarefootVlogger haha thanks much sir.. that answers my question - although theoretically the gimbal should be better because it is mechanical stabilisation vs the electronic of iphone but I personally felt the iphone is pretty darn smooth for a phone and I watched other reviews where they said the gimbal has pronounced movement along z axis.. if you plan to visit Mumbai, pls do leave me a holler!
this is almost point by point with my opinion on these three, I'm never going to strap the Pocket 3 to the front (or back, or side, or....) of one of my motorcycles, - I'll leave that for the gopros (which don't tend to overheat when stuck out in the wind at 60+ MPH), and the phone is always with me so the Osmo phone gimbal will continue to be packed in my grab and go bag, but the Pocket3 - finally as good/better than my phone and so far great footage and so discrete - only had one person even mention anything "that the Pocket 3? coooooool"" but I do worry about long term reliability
Great video and a realistic prediction of a possible drawback. We _are_ dependent on that gimbal to work, so I've also bought the additional warranty. This increases the overall price but to be honest, I'll get that money back with next (even smaller) production. I'm very happy with my Pocket3, I just need to learn how to edit the footage so it isn't "iPhoney". I'm watching your results here and the image is tight, sharp in the corners, mine (16:9) is kind of "dragged" out and I don't understand if it's something with the ratio or I need to actively crop in post. When I do that it's better, but it's an extra step which I'd like to avoid if possible. Any tips? How did you edit? Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words Mac! I edit in Filmora but just went with the auto settings on 4k 60fps. I wouldn't think you should have to crop it in post. Keep in mind I was using the wide angle lens, so not sure if that has anything to do with it. I just got it so will keep experimenting and let you know.
Nice video, well, I agree the pocket three does produce some amazing low light video. It is nothing more than a mechanical mess. I’ve returned 4 of them due to multiple different issues that have been verified by DJI. Best Buy also confirmed that all four devices were defective. I hope unlike me and many other people you do not experience the mess that that camera actually is. I do like your video and nice job filming. I won’t ever buy another pocket 3
Wow, sorry to hear that my friend. This is the first I've heard of that many problems and it's concerning, especially considering how much the camera costs.
@@BarefootVloggerunfortunately there are many people with issues. The flip screen on many units have broken ( I didn’t experience this) mine were videos were not viewable and all four units of mine, unless I turned off my cellular data on my iPhone 14pro max. 2 units the gimbals were loose in which you can hear the gimbal actually make noise in the videos. One of the units the gimbal wouldn’t ever turn on correctly as the camera would get stuck in vertical position. I don’t believe all the units will experience this but I certainly didn’t have good luck with this camera. I really wanted this camera to solve my low light video issues
Hopefully they got those bugs worked out before they sold me mine lol. My drone gimbal is still "stuck" and also won't let me recalibrate, keeps giving me a failure message. Unfortunately it's out of warranty
I have bought a GoPro from my first salary... but this is literally nothing less than a Dog S... May I please know what is the total recording time from pocket 3 in 4k60fps in real world ??
Hey Barefoot, do you still like the pocket 3? I got one like a month ago and accidentally spilled a couple of drops of passion fruit juice on the power button and now it’s stuck. Have to send it to fix(without warranty) I love everything about the camera it enhanced my videos to pro level, but the toughness of it is nonexistent. Would love to hear your thoughts on it still?
I bought the extended warranty just in case but you might still be covered. So far so good but it's not really the ideal camera for a "run and gun" vlogger because of the gimbal. It seems to have a mind of its own. The view is constantly either too high or too low so I have to continuously adjust it. One great thing about action cams is they film whatever you point it at. That said, film quality is superb.
@@BarefootVlogger thanks for responding back! It’s great that you mentioned “a mind of its own”, mine does the same thing. I thought it was a defect, I guess it’s a “feature” lol. Does it make a difference what gimbal speed setting you put it on? I’m thinking my action camera, “the iPhone” lol, has it beat on this feature. Thanks again for responding I really appreciate it. 😊
Supposedly there was software update I downloaded that was supposed to fix that but I haven't noticed any difference. The more I use the camera, the better I'm getting at preventing it but you have to pay attention to the display constantly. Good luck with your camera brother! Cheers
It is replaceable, by DJI rather than you, and Pocket 2 battery replacements were surprisingly cheap. I don't recall Pocket 2 battery life being a much discussed issue in the 3 years it has been available. Mine hasn't deteriorated at all. And of course now it's the P3 that gets the most use!
It depends Mark. Usually I just turn the camera around but sometimes I will put it on selfie especially if I'm in an awkward position or have other people in the shot
@@BarefootVlogger thank you. Helpful. I’ve been using selfie with 14 pro max… looks good but not as good as your clips so that explains, or confirms my assumption. Now if I’d get the P3 it would be less of a concern ha
my man if you've broken 3 go pro as you mentioned on the video, let me tell you something pocket 3 is not for you, it is less strong than an action cam, you will need to be more carfeull with the pocket 3. DJI is not meant for extreme conditions or anything like that actions cam still king.
I haven't broken the gopro itself, it's the inner workings of the camera that fail. Overheats, touchscreen non-responsive, camera doesn't turn on--also as I mentioned, the accessories are plastic garbage. I won't put the dji in extreme conditions, (I'll still use the gopro for that and cross my fingers) just daily vlogging under normal conditions. Your point's well taken though that's why I opted for the warranty.
I almost pulled the trigger on it. Great camera but I didnt like the need to plug stuff in for audio. That said it blows Gopros doors off and the easy tripod mount system is lightyears ahead of Gopros archaic and faulty system
the mic2 now works with the Action 4 with the new firmware upgrade which is excellent. that being said I am going to wait for the Action 5 next year to see if they use the same sensor that's in the Pocket 3. then videos on both devices will work together seamlessly. and lastly... since the Pocket 'series' only gets released every 3 years.... I'll have no reason to upgrade anything for ages and that includes not needing to upgrade to an iPhone 16, 17 or even 18.... lol@@BarefootVlogger
The Pocket 3 is the first video camera that I bring everywhere. If this ever release a version with a micro four thirds sensor and more “pro” features, I will be thrilled.
@@BarefootVlogger I do think there’s a market for a high end version of this form factor. Being bigger would be fine as it would still be a lot smaller than a camera plus gimbal. The 4D is a monster so something in between would sell.
Btw, I had the 7, skipped the 8 and decided to upgrade to the 9 for the sole reason that I could finally add an external mic. I didn't have nearly as many problems with the 7 as I did with the 9. So they really took a step backward with a newer model. Why would I trust future models.
@@BarefootVlogger I have the 8 and it’s mostly been good even though you don’t get a removable lens or front screen. I think I’d go with the newest DJI Action if I need to upgrade in the future so I hear you. I’d like the Pocket 3 but I don’t NEED it 😂
