Exactly what I was looking for thank you! Was trying to find everywhere if the Sony 12-24 f2.8 GM would be too heavy… it’s 850g but you managed to balance the 85mm APO microphone which is 900mm with focus motor as well!!
bro,. awesome work and so much insight! Love the details you tell us at which focal length its balances well etc. I have the same setup, 4D with lots of sony lens and this has helped me understand so much and saved me so much time too
Great job! What mount are you using to get to EF? Also check out the Sony FE 28-60 kit lens - it's parfocal and no breathing and works without changing lens profile.
None of the lenses I own (Sony 20,28,35,50,85 and 28-60 need the big counterweight). And the 85mm is the hefty one. But the lidar always needs the lower counterweight. The 28-60 is quite light. It's only failing is its slow of course. You don't need a focus motor.
I’m using Sigma Art EF lenses with Sigma’s Canon EF to Sony E Mount adapter connected to the DJI E Mount for the Ronin 4D. All lens controls work properly and autofocus is equally as fast on the 4D as a Canon camera. I’ve heard the Sigma adapter is designed for Sigma EF lenses and does not fully work with Canon EF glass, which may explain the behavior of the Canon lenses in this video.
Thanks for this video! It was very helpful! Please keep making more Ronin 4D videos. Have you played with the new firmware yet? I am getting really close to purchasing the Ronin 4d. Such a small world that I discovered this video first a few weeks ago while researching the 4d and then yesterday was introduced to you through Stanford Doc! Small world!
Any word on using the EF 35mm f1.4 mkll? Would love to use that lens with auto focus without using the focus motor.. What f stop do the lenses default to when there is no iris control? Wide open?
Great Video, you mention the SLR microprime lenses and I have a set of 4 e mount. Is there a trick on how to mount these that you know of? I have no problems with Sony & Sigma e mounts but I can't get theses SLR e mounts to lock.
Great video! Are your onscreen graphics correct? The lens you don't recommend are all labeled as "A" in the video...which I believe should be "F" grade, no?
Hello, since your review has been done a year ago, do you know if there are more lenses that have been test compatible with the Ronin 4D, lenses such as DZO Vespid cine Prime, Nisi Athena Cine Prime and more recent lenses in Canon et Sony ones ? It'd be great and helpful for me as I'm a recent owner of the Ronin 4D 8k and can't find updated tested lenses listed anyware. Pierre from Belgium
Hello. Thank you very much for taking the time to do these tests. I’m really on the fence of pulling the trigger on the 4D but I’m not sure yet if my Leica R set would work. Regarding your method I was wondering : did you shot any video test to furthermore judge the balance and the gimbal reaction on those setups or just jauge looking at the gimbal like we see on the video ? What E mount to EF adapter did you use and do you think that it could affect the communication issues you had ? Thank for responding.
Hi there, I've done extensive field testing with the lenses. What you see in the video is based off my set experience as well as what you see on camera. I use the Sigma E to EF mount adapter and it works great. I haven't used any Leica lenses on the Ronin, but they should work well--or even more reliably if they are all manual lenses because you won't run into any software compatibility issues.
@@danskerdane thank you for answering ! And thanks for doing those tests. There is not much infos regarding compatible lenses and your work does help people like me.
Hi , have you tried N/A profile instead of calibrating the focal lengths? Some say it's better on non linear focus by wire lenses like the tamron etc. I get good results but not perfect.
The Tamron 28-75 balances nearly flawlessly on the Ronin. You don't even need the large counterweight (but you do need to use the included smaller counterweight)
This video did nothing for me at all. I’m usually not critical, but it made no sense to do a bunch of EF lenses that they don’t make an amount for. Why would I want to see a bunch of EF lenses when they are so many sigma and SamYang, tamarin etc lenses that have e-mounts? And other mounts that didn’t make DJI’s list. This was a complete waste
