Hello, great thing 👍. I've had the Mic 2 since yesterday and noticed that too. I'm glad I've had the ETM-001 for a while now 😊. The difference is really serious. LG Gerhard 👋
Interesting. Still, if I were to choose between the DJI Mic 2 and the Edutige, while the former produces phenomenal sound, I'd rather prioritize portability the way I shoot. Thanks for doing this test for us, Bassman.
Absolutely. Hopefully, they adjust the firmware so noise reduction isn't applied all the time. The etm-001 is super small and I should be able to use it on the kayak without issue using the extension cable. Not sure why it makes a crackling sound when it's plugged directly into the mic 2 without the extension cable.
You can use both together, if they don't fix the firmware plugging in a pass thru mic is going to be the only way for good omni directional sound for situations that need that. For doing a voice over or talking head video and you don't want the dog barking in the background the built in mic works great.
I'm certain the DJI MIC 2 has plenty of advantages particularly if you're going to VLog. Perhaps one day should I choose that route. However, that's highly unlikely because it's quite expensive and I'm only what you call a middle income earner where I reside. So, should I consider external mics, it could be the Hohem Mic 01. But seeing them bulking the setup, say the Ace Pro, just doesn't work out for me. Could be different if one does away with the transmitter when the DJI MIC 2 was working with ver. 1.0.21. Thanks again for your responses, Bassman.
DJI Mic 2 only is compatible with TRS inputs compared to the 1st one, is your mic a TRRS input? maybe a convertor could help great overview, the Mic's 2 have been leaving me a little bit bummed about their sound. i even think the capsules are designed differently form one to another. I hope its a NC bug they have going on. If not, i'll start looking for alternatives, my phone's mic and a really old $20 handheld zoom recorder sound better than these sadly
It's definitely picking up a lot more ambient noise. I have the Pocket 3 with the DJI mic2 but I haven't had time to look at it. Doesn't it have a gain adjustment?
Yes, you can adjust that in the Action 4 settings Menu. I have it at 0 in this video and that's a bit too hot. I am thinking a -4 would be perfect for this mic. Hopefully they fix the built in mic via firmware as it's obviously being heavily processed even with the noise reduction switched off.
