In light of everything that's currently wrong with the Pirates, I found it fascinating that the Seattle Mariners (currently a .500 team) fired manager Scott Servais yesterday after the Mariners' playoff hopes suddenly collapsed recently: "Here we were in the middle of June and where we are today -- it's hard to believe, actually, how quickly it all dissolved for us," President of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto said on a videoconference call. The team also let go of hitting coach Jarret DeHart, whose firing comes less than three months after the dismissal of offensive coordinator Brant Brown. The Mariners, bolstered by a dynamic starting rotation, lead the majors in ERA but rank last in batting average. Their .654 OPS over these past 53 games ranks lower than every team except the Chicago White Sox. "Collectively, we determined that our organization needed this," Dipoto said. "We needed to do something to create a different theme, a different vibe in our clubhouse. I'm not trying to throw Scott under a bus at all here. I can't say enough positive things about the things he did in contributing here, but I do think we needed a new voice." I read that Dipoto and Servais have been described as longtime friends, yet Dipoto clearly put the needs of the team ahead of his close friendship with Servais. It caused me to wonder if Ben Cherington would ever put the needs of the Pirates ahead of his close friendship with Derek Shelton. (I think we all know the answer to that by now.) That's why I agree that Cherington, Shelton, and Haines would ALL have to go. Clean house.
I can't say enough good about Paul Skenes. I'd love to see him finish with ten win's. Then there is this, Will this team rise up while he is here or will the same 500 club continue. It all needs to change or stay tuned to a disaster. Thank you DK, Your always here to give us your best.

The Pirates aren't going anywhere until they completely change the management, gm, manager, and all their staff. I have zero expectations for success until that happens. The foundational standard by this team for a major league roster player is laughable. There are six guys on the team right now who would be in A ball or DFA'd almost anywhere else (Taylor, Williams, Triolo, Bae, Grandal, and McKinney (ya I know he's 3-6 so far, just getting ahead of him tanking back to earth, he's been on 7 teams now at 30 years old). Conner Joe has tanked hard and certainly can't play more than when he absolutely has to. Tellez with 10 homers and a .245 average. That's what we have been waiting for?! Please consider adding serious major league players to the team. They are out there and have been ongoing. Last night it was in our face again seeing the Reds added Amed Rosario after the Dodgers let him go when some of their injured starters came back. He's hitting over .300 this year, a .275 career hitter, and can play infield or outfield. He's better than a lot of guys they got, that is certain. Money isn't the issue, it is simply the interest to improve. Be active at the winter meetings and quit settling for left overs and bargain bin retreads. If not willing to add like I just mentioned then I'd like to see them play guys who could be part of the longer term future of the team. Bring Davis back up and see if he's improved, give him playing time. Add a few others, do something that shows you're serious about winning. I've seen enough of the other guys I mentioned above and the results say they don't belong on the major league roster now or in the future. They also have a manager who would never be a manager of any other club. The gm won't be a gm again if he is ever relieved of his duties here. There's a pattern here.

Conner Joe instead of striking out cqn do flips when catching the ball or throwing it behind his back or under his legs. They don't even strike out very often. You need to catch a Banana game because that's entertainment. I mean they have DH, EH, designated runner, and Gold hitter. The Gold hitter is a guy that's hot that can replace a regular hitter late in the game.
A manager who won't step in is not a manager at all IMO let alone one I'd want. I'm in disbelief after hearing he was a hitting coach and hasn't stepped in. That's a bum to me. What's that thing that pitchers put in their hat and sometimes have to replace? I think it might be technology for something? I haven't kept up with the game after losing Bonds and the guys in the 90s.

What are the Pirates trying to save Skenes for? Especially since he has a shot at Rookie Of The Year. It's not like the team is going to be a lot better next year. Unless Nutting opens his wallet big. Which history tells us won't happen.
