Nice video. I have a DLE60 and am quite impressed. One thing I found with gasoline twins, it is important to add some baffles so air can’t go through the cowl without going through the fins.

Great review Tom. Love watching you fly. And that DLE looks like the real deal. Thanks.

I like the opposed layout. I think that the shaking on the airframe is way down with the opposed cylinders, than with a single cylinder. I also like the DLE carb for the 20 and 30cc sizes that I have run.

Awesome video. I'd love for this to be my first gas motor. Twins are so much nicer and this little 40cc looks perfect :-)

+RoboTekno It has been some time since I posted this review and the DLE40 win has become a real workhorse for me. I put it in my Hanga 9 Super Cub and it pulls that plane around very well. It is actually more power than needed in that Cub but it lets me do things like knife edge flight that are more difficult with a smaller engine. So far the only work I have had to do on the DLE 40 is rebuild the carb but that was after LOTS of hours as this has been my primary engine for a long time. Runs perfect as of this last Sunday.

Hi sir, love your videos. I am in the market for a 40cc twin. Would you go with this DLE 40, or a Valley View classic 40cc twin, and which version? Do I want the 1/4x32 or the CM 6 version? I want to mount it in a 78” Extremeflight Extra V3. Please let me know , I am a helicopter guy mostly, although I can fly an airplane competitive. This is my first gas engine. Thanks. Coe Show.

I like the Valley View 40 twin a bunch. I've had the 1/4 32 and cm6 versions and both run fine. I guess if the smaller plug helps keep more of it inside the cowl that might be a consideration.

Great video! I have a question. Can this engine auto start withount the need of poll the plane blades?

I'm not understanding your question. Can you try it again?

How do you think this will work on a 30cc Ultra Stick,just bought one and need to pick a powerful but not to heavy power plant,thanks !

What power system did you used to have that was 7 lbs heavier ?

It was a 50CC Rimfire motor from Tower and a pair of 6S, 5000mAh packs. The YAK was a rocket with that power setup but for only 3 minutes or so, then you had to be in deep energy conservation mode to get it back on the ground.

How has the engine performed after break-in? I'm curious about the vertical performance on the Yak.
@flyingrcdotnet
@flyingrcdotnet 9 лет назад
Terry Tunis Vertical on the YAK was fine right up until a pronouncd down when a bad buddy box setting shut the motor off and the "deadstick" din;t turn out so good. But I have had this same engine on an Aeroworks 30cc Extra 260 and now a Hangar 9 Super Cub and it keeps on pulling harder than it seems like it should. A Vess 20B prop on the Cub mean pretty much straight up vertical as long as I want to wait on it. Great motor.

Is this engine powerfull enough to pull a 2.3 meter wingspan composite yak55 as i donr have a manual and i dont know what brand the plane is
@flyingrcdotnet
@flyingrcdotnet Год назад
Having to guess, I'd say no but I really have no idea. It's just that NO might avoid crashing an underpowered plane.

I have the DLE 40 as well.I had six good flights until I took off without bolting the wings! I bought another Valiant after the crash and now my engine runs different. It will run a bit then die on start up. It dead sticked twice. I have gone thru the engine twice and still no luck. I'm suspecting the ignition might be bad? Help!!!
@flyingrcdotnet
@flyingrcdotnet 7 лет назад
First thing is to check the tank to be sure the clunk is not folded forward.Other electrical connections can get jerked and pulled during a crash so you need to check all of the wiring closely. Start with the clunk first.
@qbano55
@qbano55 7 лет назад
I did, I had a split in the tank and gas plug and changed them. The ignition wires are frayed at the ignition box. I installed new charge switch, batteries and receiver. Still it's harder to get started. It will run, but I have to move the stick half way up on throttle to get it to keep running on start!

do you think the dle 40 twin would be enough power for the new 79" slick 580 ?
@flyingrcdotnet
@flyingrcdotnet 7 лет назад
I'm not familiar with that plane so would say to go with the manufacturers suggested engine range
