Here is a brief "through the scope" look at the SwampFox Arrowhead 1-10x24 SFP riflescope. If you are looking for the most flexibility with an LPVO under $800 or so, I think this is the best option out there right now of all I have seen.

I've actually thought about getting a swampfox because of the price. Now that you have reviewed it , I'm no longer afraid to purchase one. The glass looks really decent. Thanks again for a great review !!!!

Just got mine the other day. I own a Primary Arms 3-18 apollo, swfa, vortex diamondback, etc. I shoot out to a mile also so glass clarity means a lot (I use the swfa). I was BLOWN away by the clarity. The turrets weren't super crisp, but not big deal if they track well. Seems well built and they put the money it is most critical.

@DarkLordOfOptics
@DarkLordOfOptics 4 года назад
1-6x vs 1-10x is not really an apples to apples comparison. In terms of overall optical quality, they are comparable, I think. Arrowhead had a little more magnification range though and is available with a non-BDC reticle which I like.

How would you compare the Vortex Viper PST Gen 2 1-6X24 against the Arrowhead line(1-6, 1-8, 1-10) from purely an optical perspective?
@DarkLordOfOptics

That's a pretty close call with a slight edge for the PST Gen2 on lower magnifications.

On your video of the Razor 1-10 you said it’s one of the best. Is there something around $1,000 that you would recommend? It’s for an AR platform. I’ve seen your videos on the 1-6. But could you explain the range for a 1-6 to 1-10?
@DarkLordOfOptics
@DarkLordOfOptics 4 года назад
There aren't any good 1-10x scopes around $1k that are FFP and have a brightly illuminated dot. The SFP SwampFox Arrowhead 1-10x24 is pretty decent and is under $1k. It is good for the money, but it is not a competitor to the Razor Gen3.
@ddyoder
@ddyoder 3 года назад
I think if you have roughly $1k and want a LPVO you should seriously look at the Delta Stryker HD 1-6 .. i think can find just under $800 (as of Nov 2020) and it's SFP and only 1-6x but the value is frankly nearly double that price for how good the glass clarity is, illumination, etc. -- but i'll defer to the DLoO himself to confirm/deny as I know he has had some content on this as well.

Thanks for the review DLO! Looks like there is now the Mil version. On longer shots I too like to dial then hold wind so need wind dots or mil stadia. The new version does that, and is similar to other reticles out there. Nice. Now as for me, my question to your very educated eyes and experience is this (in mil) is on my low end of consideration. High end is about $1300. I'd like 1x8 in the least. Anything on the upper end I should be considering?
@DarkLordOfOptics
@DarkLordOfOptics 4 года назад
I do not think the mrad reticle is already available with the Arrowhead, but it is coming. If you want to go a little bit up in price, take a close look at Burris XTR II 1-8x24. I was using one for quite a while and only gave it up when I upgraded to Razor Gen3. It is a very solid scope.

If I could get this or a Vortex Viper PST Gen II 2-10x32 for ~$650 brand new, would you say the Vortex is worth the extra money? That query aside, the only thing I'm worried about with regards to Swampfox is that since it's such a *new* entrant to optics is that they might not make it. I'm also really leery of their "50,000 round" warranty guarantee. It's just a very ambiguous guideline that they have no way of proving unless there's an accelerometer in the scope that measures every recoil felt.
@DarkLordOfOptics
@DarkLordOfOptics 4 года назад
That's a bit of an apples to oranges comparison. You can't really compare a scope with 1x low end to a scope with 2x low end. They are usually used for different applications. Do you need 1x or do you not need 1x? That will define the answer. As far as the warranty goes, that is just their way of saying "Lifetime Warranty" in a way that attracts some attention.
@pbdye1607
@pbdye1607 4 года назад
@@DarkLordOfOptics First off, thanks a ton for the prompt reply. I suppose my answer for whether I need 1x or not is answered by the fact that regardless of what optic I put on my 18" HBAR AR, I'll always have '1x' available through the BUIS. I kinda want an FFP scope, which the PST Gen II is, but at the same time, I'm more or less only going to be shooting on a range at 100, 300, and *possibly* 500y distances with 55-72gr .223/5.56. I'll be upgrading from a 3x Spitfire, so anything adjustable with a lower low end will be an upgrade.

50,000 ROUNDS, GUARANTEED If your Swampfox Optic fails prior to 50,000 rounds fired, we will repair or replace it for free. Yep, we’re that confident in our quality, and we stand behind both our products and our customers. TRACKING SHOT DATA All Swampfox Optics have an embedded accelerometer microchip that tracks how many rounds you have fired, as well as a gyroscope microchip that measures G forces of the guns you have used-nope, not really, we’re just going by the honor amongst warriors. If you shoot over 50,000 rounds before any failure, our guess is that you are satisfied with the product so bite the bullet and buy another one. But we’ve got your back on any failure before then.

I was turning the turret back and forth by a few clicks and given the wobble of the tripod, you are not going to see anything move due to the turret. For that to be noticeable, I would have to have a sturdier support and make a large adjustment in one direction.
