Yep... Although, Before These Crowded Streets will forever be my favorite DMB album. TLS was the logical continuation of BTCS. Of course, there's not one subpar album they released before 2003.
The arrangement of big eyed fish is just spectacular. The entire lillywhite sessions is awesome. I was so bummed when this was not released and glen Ballard album was released. Like it was bad. So happy this was leaked.
Most of the songs are literally the same as Busted Stuff lol stop being so dramatic. Just a few production changes on most of them. And songs like Raven were way upgraded on Busted Stuff.
@@tidalcliff2202 most of the the songs were similar, not the same. Grey street got cut to a verse. Sweet up and down, Monkey man not released on BS. And Captain, big eyed fish, and raven were all AMAZING and much much better songs on TLS over BS. Upgraded? 🤣

Monkey Man and JTR are amazing tho, but I was just talking about the songs that were released on Busted Stuff. Captain is rly different, but that's the only one rly. Big Eyed Fish is basically the same song minus production differences. Raven sounded like a demo on LWS, vocals weren't even finished.
Best album to date. Sweet up and down, Grey street with 3 verses, big eyed fish the way I know it....amazing. sorry it got leaked but it makes you all more amazing to hear raw stuff thst makes you real.
You know I think the lillywhite sessions leak probably helped the band as whole. They made their money back with Busted Stuff, and got a ton of exposure out of Lillywhite Sessions. The Old version of Raven is epic, One of Dave's best vocal performances IMO.
There was only 6 copies made (one for Lillywhite too). Stefan lent his copy to a friend, who in turn, without Stefan’s knowledge, burned a copy and put it on the internet. That original album is SO frigin good, don’t agree with the record company saying there weren’t any singles on it and was too dark.
I only knew of the band from just a couple of music videos from Much/MTV but it took LWS leaking hubbub to really get to invested. Those were some kick ass tunes even if they weren't finish. Honestly it came at the right time. High speed internet was becoming more widespread and accessible, curiosity among the many that heard about this leak made them hunt it down, check it out and possibly become fans of the band.
Shouldn’t get mad simply that the band allows live recordings and the early years they tried live stuff before the finish product. That’s one of the reason I like them back in the day. I have so many early songs. It cool to see the song drows
In every way; from tracklisting to song renditions/lyric variations to production (and the LWS weren't even "produced"!). Could've been the band's high watermark from a studio album angle.
In hindsight this makes me sad, as I was one of those people who were seeding songs that night as they were leaked.. Big eyed fish was my seed song.. will always have a connection to that version of that song for that reason. We were all soooo excited, thought it was cool, but never stopped to think what the Band might think about it..
It was leaked for good reason. And the leak may be the inky reason the went back to that song lineup to eventually put on busted stuff. No reason to feel bad for the band.
