In this video, I will explain the DMG MORI LASERTEC 3000 DED hybrid.
DMG MORI has introduced the LASERTEC 3000 DED hybrid, a hybrid machine that combines subtractive and additive metal applications in a single operation by combining the capabilities of turn-mill machines with additive manufacturing laser technology.The commercial potential of additive manufacturing (AM) has expanded dramatically in recent years, owing to its unique ability to deposit geometries that traditional metal cutting cannot.This trend is projected to continue in the future, as the use of AM machines expands in industries such as die and mould, semi-conductor electronics, medical, and aerospace, while other connected markets, such as the market for metal powder and deposited components, expand as well. Furthermore, the diversity of production processes encourages more organisations to transition into high-mix, low-volume manufacturing, necessitating the necessity for process integration of additive and subtractive applications, such as painting and mending.
The LASERTEC 3000 DED hybrid combines turn-mill and AM technology to allow traditional metal cutting and DED applications to be performed on a single machine.DED refers to the method of introducing metal powder through the powder nozzle in tandem with laser irradiation in order to melt and harden the metal powder for deposition.The LASERTEC 3000 DED hybrid provides quick deposition on big workpieces up to 400 mm x 1,321 mm in size. The powder feeder may switch between different kinds of metal powder, allowing numerous powders to be deposited in layers on a single base material.Furthermore, multiple types of metal powder can be combined prior to application to generate composite materials and achieve a wide range of deposition, repair, and coating procedures.
The LASERTEC 3000 DED hybrid has an AM head on the turning and milling spindle for simultaneous powder supply and laser irradiation, as well as a B-axis for 5-axis DED applications.Because the AM head is put away during metal cutting processes, conventional machining requires no setup modifications and may be completed in a single chuck.Additionally, AM Assistant checks the deposition state for consistent quality and error prevention by automatically calibrating the powder flow and detecting nozzle conditions.
