Go get 'em. I am disabled and need to be able to park close. Sometimes I can't and I don't get stuff I need. I usually leave early because sometimes I have park far away and I am slow to move.
have y’all ever applied for one ? she gave very real issues that many disabled folks report for not havin one. i’m disabled, use the placard, and i cannot fathom why y’all are so vicious to these people when u clearly do not care abt the real challenges us disabled folkd face- y’all just love callin the pigs
@@joseochoa7043 riiiiight cause infamously those are quick trips. shes got like, 3 kids dog, she probably has to work, take care of em, take em to the doctors- took me such a long time to get mine cause of all the stuff i had to sort out before even beginning the process.
@@joseochoa7043 yeah and u represent every disabled person out there. she had all those kids and got that big ass fine, for what ? walmart has tons of disability parking, and ik my parents parked at disability spots when i was losing my vision but didn’t have the placard yet. it’s not that simple and i don’t take any joy in pigs handing out tickets when they disproportionately affect disabled people more violently
Do not attempt abusing a disabled placard in San Francisco. Parking Enforcement will issue two citations. One for the violation and the other for the posted Blue Zone. Each for $875. But, if the placard is reported lost/ stolen or altered the vehicle will be towed. Add another $450. Grand total of....WAIT FOR IT....$2,200.00. 😳
I live in Detroit and the abuse here is probably some of the worst in the nation, but then we have crummy weather 9 months of the year. Living in SoCal there is absolutely no excuse other than laziness.
The State also needs to put each medical professional's license at risk if they give a medical statement granting someone access to a handicap parking placard who truly does not need one. Then maybe one out of ten drivers would not have one.
While I bet there’s a few bad apples out there. Nowadays most doctors won’t just hand them out. Here in NM, my placard has my DL photo on the back. I know a few others state also adopted this idea. I think it would help the abuse
I wish I could tell on this two young ladies I believe they are sisters, that park in the handicap area in my apartment building. It makes me mad because they feel entitled to park there, when there are over 100 available spaces still available but they don't want to walk a little bit.
I rarely leave my house, but almost everyday i do i see people illegally parked in handicapped parking! Cops dont give a shit! This would be an easy way to make a lot of money for the state
Im in the uk, the main problem here isn't people misusing the disabled parking badges, its people who dont even have or need one still parking in disabled spots.
I have a Permanent placard. I am 75 and suffer from osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis as well as degenerative disc disease. Walking some days is very painful. I have literally driven back home and decided not to shop that day because there were no disabled spots left and I am sure some of those spots were illegal parkers.
San Francisco has it's own handicap placard enforcement force. They will go around and any car with a placard, they will enter the number on the placard. If that number comes up as lost or stolen, that car gets ticketed and towed! Too many people with proper placards illegally get a second placard. More cities should do what SF is doing! Whether it's the DMV or a city's parking enforcement, they should do more than one placard crackdown a month!
Wished that my city would raise the fines to that of San Francisco. Had one lady who called me every name in the book when I said something to her. After she got done yelling at me, I told her that she proved to me that she was disabled, by mental health.
I've had people cuss me out when I've said something about them being in a handicap spot without a place card especially one designed to unload a wheelchair and that is with my handicap plates card showing and my manual wheelchair in the front seat of my car visible through the window and they've just taken the last spot for someone who needs it to unload a manual wheelchair.
The only problem with the fines is that some people don't care and the working mother who is being "stupid" (granted, not an excuse), get the same fine. Mr. Lexus pays it and goes on his way, Mrs Soccer Mom, pays it and can't feed her kids the next week. Again, no excuse to break law, but maybe community service with disabled people would be an alternative. I just watched one of these videos where 3 punks in an Escalade said "I'll just pay the fine" - didn't phase him. That is not Justice (in my opinion)
In My City, Adelaide (South Australia) only the local council Traffic Officers can enforce Placard Use and that simply never happens thus Fines are never imposed. Tragic really.
My 24 Hour Fitness Gym has underground parking with only 4 Handicap Spaces. There use to be 6 but the 2 closes spaces to the elevator are now regular parking. The problem? There are 3 vehicles with Handicap Placards that take up 3 of the spaces all night. From the looks of it, they appear to be mobile homeless.
I once went to the Presidio Sutro baths site early in the morning when the lot was almost empty. I see a car with no placard parked right next to the stairs in a disabled spot. 2 minutes later, a nice big ticket. Im guessing at least $1000. Since parking fees and tickets are 10 times higher in San Francisco. I laughed inside because whoever parked there had hundreds of other spaces they could've parked in. Including the ones only 50 feet away from the stairs. How lazy could someone be?
This is a little off the subject, but I was at the mall with my father, mother and wife. My wife and mother wanted to get something in the mall so we dropped them off at the front and went to the back to wait for their call to pick them up. While we waited we watched two teen age girls circling the parking lot in there car. Looking for a spot on a very busy day. Finally with no choice they parked by us, way in the back. They both got out and slowly headed toward the mall. As they got close, a car pulled out from one of the stalls up front. Both girls got super excited, one girl stayed and guarded the spot while the other ran all the way back to get her car and move it to the front spot. After parking their car they had a spring now in their step as they headed toward the mall. My wife and mother took what seemed to be an eternity. After an hour the two girls came back, each had a small bag and still a spring in the step as they happily got in there car that was parked up front now and left.
Since doctors are required to sign off at the form (for getting disability placard), the authorities should do the following :- 1) on the form, full details of doctor + clinic must be mentioned. 2) if the abuser has been caught, the doctor who signed off should be served a hefty fine ... Let's say USD 10K (USD 10,000) as well. 3) the abuser has to pay a hefty fine of USD 50K (USD 50,000) PLUS one year's jail sentence. 4) the disabled whose family, relative or friend abused the disability placard, will not receive any disability benefits for two years. Indicate the above in the form.
My husband has a parking permit, recently we couldn't get a parking spot in a supermarket car park. There was a car parked with no permit, I blocked the car, unfortunately I reversed & tipped the car. Eventually the driver came out & mayhem ensued. Her mother has a permit, but the permit was in the mother's bag. The manager & security wouldn't clamp the car, it's not their job. The police were called.
Forget the fine, they should have the car towed and get a citation. The fines should be much higher. A mininum of $1,000. A second violation doubles and so on.
I remember the very first time I saw some inconsiderate imbecile park in a handicap spot... It was raining, and the guy pulls in, parks and runs into the store...About the same time, a car with a handicap plate cruises by but has to park in a regular spot some thirty or so yards away...I watched as the man struggled with a small, collapsible wheelchair, settled into it and rolled himself into the store through the poring down rain... Now, whenever I see an unauthorized vehicle in a handicap spot...well...all I can say is, "Uh, oh, better get Maaco!" I have keys and I'm not afraid to use them!
. *A first-degree misdemeanor conviction for vandalism comes with a prison sentence of up to one year, a $1,000 fine, or both; when it results in more than $1,000 worth of property damage, you may be charge with a third-degree felony, punishable by up to 5 years in prison, a $5000 fine, and 5 years of probation.*
About damn time but we need more. Eh just put a camera on every corner and mid corner. Itll help deter crime, your in public so you can be recorded and photograph.
These people have no conscience! If they have, they won't park on disable parking lot. My husband is disable, he has difficulty in walking because of an accident and of course i used the BPL but only if my husband is w/me .I just can't do it when i'm alone, my conscience won't let me.And besides, i know how it felt when u can't use that space because some healthy and an unprivelege people used it for granted.
I can appreciate what they are doing my wife has a hang tag due to Mobility Issues from her neck and spine deteriorating. I just have a concern of being approached and questioned by an Officer for parking in a Handicap Spot with a current and visual hang tag technically you have yet to do anything illegal and this Officer is going to Detain you and verify your tag by checking your ID. The act alone is a violation to find out if you should have the hang tag sorry doesn't work that way
Heartbreaking when you see what some poor people have to go through to just get an errand done or a doctors visit. How can people be so cruel??? They should tow them immediately too. if they stay there all day the may make SEVERAL people's lives miserable or impossible.
Now if they could do that more often then seat belt and light bulb violations we might get the message to violators to give a s about this selfish act.
@Bryon Stephens Cops pull people over all day on a strip in front of a casino, on my delivery route, and use the excuse that your tailLIGHT is out. They do this all day everyday. This is used to "fish" for other violations. Maybe use your time better then critize people and insult them.
Everyone breaks the law now and then but that doesn't mean these low class people who illegally park in handicapped spots shouldn't get tickets. Sounds like someone hates cops.
Jean Taylor - that's a great question JT been searching that answer myself but I will say this, we must get that info for states on our radar for visitation or pay a hefty price later on
I have severe lung problems can't walk 40 yards without feeling out of breath I don't look disabled so don't judge me the placard allows me to do my chores grocery shopping Dr. Visits if there is a spot next to handicap I'll take it so someone worse off can have it We are in this together
A handicap spot is for the handicapped person to go in and conduct their business or shop. If a healthy person goes into the store and the disabled person stays in the car that is a blatant disregard and misuse of the handicapped rule.
$200 for 1st offenders. A warning for people who might be using them when they are not transporting a disabled loved one.$1,000.00 for assholes who argue about it!
What about the lady who was using the spot to attend a fitness class workout? Spending money at a gym seems odd when you could park 100 yards away and, I DUNNO, WALK ?
$250 ticket?? That's all? Make it $2500.00. Get serious or don't bother. Same with people who text and drive. Hammer them. AND tow their cars. Make them pay for the costs of towing and reclaiming their car.
