I'm a 35 year old white guy who grew up in the suburbs in PA. I was 13 when this album came out. I was bullied through all of middle school and high school by my "friends". I had one friend who made me a cassette tape of this album. We got a lot of snow in PA that winter and I listened to this album over and over while shoveling snow. X was the tough guy I wanted to be so badly, but he really was so poetic and seemed so gifted. This album got me through so many tough times. Now, all of these years later I have a wonderful wife, a good paying job, and a beautiful new baby all in a new house. Thank you so much X, I'm truly praying for you. EDIT: Wow, I never expected so many people to comment on this. I am truly heartbroken today. I'm proudly wearing my old Ruff Ryders T-shirt and sitting in disbelief. I always told myself I would one day meet Earl maybe at a signing and thank him for everything. I'm sad to know I'll never do that. It's weird when you cry over someone you've never met. It's raining here today in PA. I think God will was ready to bring you home. I'll see you some day X, and I promise I'll tell you how much everyone back on Earth misses you. This really hurts.
@@BaAZiGar what do you expect him to say in racially obsessed America? I'm black and was never raised on rap music, and by saying that most black Americans would say that I'm whitewashed. I'm of a different nationality. We have our own genre of music, but my grandmother preferred country music.
"I will always have a drug problem. Just because you stop getting high doesn't mean you don't have a problem because it's a constant fight everyday," RIP X
I used to be an addict on sum harder things like x but I got off em an only use medical marijuana stuff now an its works for me but took a lot of courage to say that online man I understand been 1 1/2 yrs off bad stuff but I want it everyday never goes away hard battle
I'm a 63 year old white guy, I remember seeing this video on Canadian Much Music. I remember being blown away at the raw energy of the sound. My son & I are mourning the loss of Earl. He was so talented, but like alot of us, including me, made some bad choices. Right now, in heaven, Jesus is listening to DMX, Tupac & Biggie jam..R.I.P. Earl..😔😔
@@jameswhipple5658 Don't ever apologize for saying you're white, people these days want to hate everything white and it's become disgusting. You tried to send a message of unity and that didn't fit in with his "hate everything white" agenda so he had to be negative to you.
rest in power??? gimme a break the dude told you all hell is very dark... he knew exactly what he was doing and he told you too. Receive a love of the truth and the salvation of Jesus Christ.... this is no way to go.... this man leads directly to hell.
@@inTruthbyGrace he literally would read the bible to groupies back stage. He was a witness to more people than you ever have. You're some couch potatoe christian that's going to hell for how you judge people and what's funny is you won't even know til you're there.
@@johnnycarter2283 home is heaven fella and that is where brother dmx is residing. Heaven and hell is real and so is the devil my friend. 100 years ago me and you was not here, 100 years later we shall not be here so why we all stressing about shit that doesnt matter. Its all a illusion and the only certainty in life wether you like it not is death. Doesn’t matter if your a famous footballer or royalty, every soul shall taste death and then go on its journey to heaven in which everything is eternal. Deeep meaning in this tune
@@freepalestinelonglivegaza9416 nope you are wrong you are 100 percent wrong not everyone goes to heaven you only get to heaven if your heart is 100 percent right with god and all your sins are forgiven, people that curse sleep around and have kids with 9 different women cant get to heaven unless they straighten out there lives and live right and stop sleeping around and stop cursing and stop making music where they r cursing and using all kinda foul language, u cant get to heaven unless you live your life right and if dmx didnt ask god for forgiveness of all his sins before he died then hes not going to heaven
How's death a home? What does it mean he finally found it? He was looking for death? Doubt it. You have no idea how crazy you believers look when seen through rational pair of eyes...
@Paula Pogba honestly after all the sh*t I've seen in life I have no idea what to believe in.... though saying about a deceased that he "finally found his way home" is dumb - that's 4sure
@@pab1972 and you went out your way just to tell me this when i was just paying my respects? You could have kept it to yourself you know, or are you just that desperate for the attention homie?
First DMX song I heard found it because my gave gave me a def game game that had a mic. This and the beastie boys funky monkey were the only 2 me and my brother would sing 😂
In 98’ This man dropped two albums because he was literally on fire..Collectively he sold 9 million albums in one year! His impact was legendary...You will never see numbers like that again.. R.I.P. To a Legend !
To think DMX wrote this song in less than 15 minutes and didn’t fuck with it because the simple rhyming patterns and repetitive beat. He wrote three other bangers the same night for his #1 album. Legend Rest in peace DMX ❤️❤️
@@honeybdream im not denying his talent, to say hes the greatest of all time? thats a whole other ball of wax. Great for sure, but greatest? not even close.
DMX died from the Covid19 vaccine. The fake news media is spreading lies that DMX OD'd . The family says this is FALSE. He took the vaccine and within days he was in a Coma.
X was the first solo rapper I ever listened to - at 13. He is the reason for my raw east coast rap taste. Without X, I'd be nothing musically. Legends never die. X ERA FOREVER
No comparison. X is great but Tupac is iconic. It's like comparing Tyson and Ali. One dark and ruthless, the other a legendary wordsmith and artist with political motivation.
I’m from Nigeria 🇳🇬 Western Africa, I’m here to pay my Respect ✊🏽, DMX your music and lines were part of my childhood. Rest Easy soldier, The Ruff Riders, RIP X.
Notice how all of DMX's songs have 3 verses? Nowadays rappers can barely come up with 2 verses much less 3. This man had endless bars. RIP to a lyrical genius.
I think that’s more of a shift in musical marketing and standards. But yea I don’t get how he was able to bring such a flow and combine them with lyrical lines like that and still sound on beat and a keen to the tone of the video and song. Iv always wondered that.
They now say he isn't gonna come back from this.. the OD..heart attack..and lack of Oxygen for 30 mins.. he is braindead.. how fucking sad!!! Just hope he doesnt suffer.
@@sace1608 Shut up you troll. DMX helped a lot of people. There are many stories of him helping people on his own volition. Jesus said to not judge, as you will judged accordingly. As a "Christian" you should pray for his soul and the souls of everyone and never, ever, wish perdition on the children of God.
To escape domestic abuse, he spent a lot of time as a child on the streets of New York at night and found security with stray dogs. Wounds that you suffered as a child are hard to forget. I will never forget you. R.I.P. brother. Thanks for your music.
@@sharongrewal3363 but you know you can see that is in the hospital 🏥 you know the treasure of health, it's in the prison you know the treasure of freedom and it's in the cemetery you know that life ain't nothing
Hadn’t thought about it like that, hell yeah that makes me happy. I remember when I was in 8th grade our schools athletes took a yellow school bus to a larger city to get our sports physicals done for the year(it had to be 107 degrees in that thing) . Nobody had a boom box, the coach didn’t know how to work the radio; but this one kid named Ramon Reyes knew every word to this song, and the rest of the guys on the bus knew how to say, “WHAT, and hit that chorus line.” I was a 110 pound skinny white kid from south ga, I mean I was going to get my physical to play on the golf team, LOL! I had NO clue who DMX was, needless to say after that bus ride I definitely identified with the ruff ryders! I’ll never forget that moment in time, pretty special memory! I literally had to buy my dmx CDs and put them in a Garth Brooks or George Strait case you get them past my mother who apparently identified with Nazi germany! But she could not stop my admiration for DMX, Ludacris, Bone Thugs. But this guy right here popped my Hip Hop cherry! Thanks DMX, rest easy and I’ll never forget the coolest bus ride of my life!
I was in a boot camp for teenagers on a military base for 6 months nd I was part of rough riders platoon and we got a lot of our cadences from Dmx Rip legend
This video alone was responsible for many young kids in Russia buying huge baggy pants, big boots and xxl t-shirts 20 years ago. Speedy recovery DMX. Edit: R.I.P. DMX :(
Completely agree. Look, the best rock/metal/punk bands are all about intensity, honest to their aproach; whether its 70's Aerosmith, 80s hard core punk; up to more recent bands like Lamb of God and Gojira. DMX was real, aggresive; true to himself and whomever appreciates his craft, his delivery. Legend.
Couldn´t agree more. I started with Rap and moved to Metal and Hard Rock but every once in a while i went back to DMX. Was lucky enough to see his energy live - real legend. Rest in Peace
Nah, it just goes to show that metalheads listen to a lot more than metal. Metal's my main genre, but I listen to different kinds of music rather frequently. Especially rap. Mobb Deep, Eazy-E (and NWA in general), Tech N9ne, Busta Rhymes, etc. Are a few of my all-time favorites. But anyways, what X gave out was not only what hip hop/rap fans wanted, but also metalheads and other genres.
