Fantastic so far, I would love the ability to patch and save a universe in the "control" app. It would make flashing a rig before a console is set a breeze!

Need Help for Controlling Small Studio Lights using Wireless/Bluetooth DMX. Have an ETC Element Console connected to lights via RJ45 DMX but would like to convert from RJ45 DMX to Wireless using iPad or iPhone control but keeping ETC Console hardwired as a backup. I would think that all I need to do is connect a Wireless DMX transmitter to my DMX Splitter then install Wireless DMX Receivers on each fixture. Any suggestions for a product that will accommodate this? Thanks!
No, DMXcat is not a lighting console. . .it is a DMX/RDM test tool for setting up and troubleshooting. It has some very basic ability to make presents but not what you are looking for.
DMXcat handles 512 DMX slots. As for software for a computer, it is possible to use a desktop version if the computer uses Bluetooth. DMXcat was developed as a portable device and most handheld devices use Bluetooth.
Mago. . no, DMXcat speaks Bluetooth, and is meant for setting up and troubleshooting. But you ask an interesting question and we have developed a product that will do it. Our new Multiverse Transmitter for wireless DMX contains frequency hopping radios for wireless DMX. It can broadcast five universes of wireless DMX in the 2.4GHz band and four universes in the 900MHz band (Americas only), as well as having a Bluetooth radio and Wi-Fi. In fact, it has a DMXcat built in so you can access your whole wireless rig through your DMXcat app for setup, troubleshooting and focussing. On the Wi-Fi radio, you can utilize your Luminair app to run cues wirelessly. Of course, it also takes in ethernet protocols like ArtNet and Streaming ACN from your console. Multiverse Transmitter is launching in March.
Thank you for your interest in #DMXcat, TS the Producer! We will share your thoughts with our Product Development team, but know that the update you requested is dependent on Apple, as their API doesn't allow access to the camera. Hope this helps!
Bill. . .those are great ideas and are planned for future updates of DMXcat. We will continue to develop and add functionality to DMXcat and as time goes by DMXcat will play a larger and larger role in how we setup, test, and configure our lighting gear. Feel free to use the email link in the app to send suggestions directly to our product development team. Thanks for your feedback.
Hi Bill, good question. This could probably use some more discussion. Please call our office at tel.201.549.1160 and one of our experts will be able to give you a more detailed response. Hope this helps!
Hello! Thank you for reaching out. So we can better understand your needs, can you please send us your question via email? Our tech support team for DMXcat is available at: dmxcatreport@citytheatrical.com Thanks!

Next question what if the lights your using are China made an you but I made I build my own personality list for them in my console can the dmx cat still work to check those lights
So by DMX/RDM you mean DMX fixtures with 5-PIN Connectors not XLR 3-PIN ? ... So, the silly question I have is, Can this be used on fixtures with 3 PIN DMX XLR fixtures ??
Sorry you feel that way. It costs half as much as its competitors, does twice as much, was awarded Lighting Product of the Year in both the U.S. and U.K., and has been called "the best lighting tool in the last 10 years."
