Thank you SO much for taking the time to say that! It means so much. You’re going to have an awesome time here. It’s amazing. Thanks for following along.
As a Korean, it seems that these videos contain various major places in Korea. Modern, traditional, historical…. Probably they will be of great help to those who visit Korea for the first time. I hope you enjoy your time here:)
This brings a lot of memory back to me. I served in that area on the north side of Imjin River in 1st infantry Division Recon Battalion with ROK Army from 1989 to 1991. DMZ is one of best preserved nature area due to lack of human activities. My biggest fear was not North Korean soldiers, it was landmines. Some of the areas were clear of mines, others were not. Some areas planted with mines on purpose on the purpose of slowing down N. Korean Army in the case of invasion. And some areas were unmarked and those were most dangerous. I was always reminded to stay on the beaten path. Off the beaten path is not imaginable where I served. One of my high school classmate died in a landmine accident. one of my middle school classmate was injured on a separate accident. I remember one incident that whole Recon team coming back from ambush in DMZ were killed by friendly fire. Those incidents were never reported on the media back then. Things have changed a lot since then. Industrial zone was built there. A lot of progress has been made. Still a log way to go. I'm praying for the Unified Korea hopefully in my lifetime.
That's so great to hear, Alan! It's still wild to us that people take our advice! It's my favorite thing in the world to hear that someone took one of our recommendations and had a great time. Truly! Thanks for making my day by taking the time to come back and leave a comment here.
If you want something modern, I recommend you to visit Lotte World Tower and Songdo Central Park in Seoul. Lotte World Tower is a 123-story building where you can enjoy the night view of Seoul at night. Songdo Central Park is a futuristic city.
I’m so glad you enjoyed this. We don’t feel like we’re very good at sharing such a complicated history but we try our best. It means a lot that you watched it, enjoyed, and commented. ♥️ 🇰🇷 ✌️
So much history all over that country. I was there as a soldier for 18 months. I am excited because I am coming back next summer. Also, I have that plaque with the piece of the wire on it hanging on my wall
wow the nostalgia 😢 Since we lived close to Imjingak, my family used to go there pretty often. We'd go on picnics, take family pictures and go on rides in the amusement park. I miss those days 😔 i wish i can visit korea soon! Anyways, thanks for the amazing video! 🙂❤

Hi Steph & Pete, Did Hays go in the tunnel with you guys? I'm going to be doing this tour with my 2 year old and wondering what this part of the tour would be like with a toddler. Did he walk the tunnel himself or was he in a carrier? Thank you for your videos they are so helpful!
I totally understand the viewpoint of Pete in regard to his impression on DMZ. In my opinion, S Koreans have lived with such fear and tension against North for nearly 70 years, so such feelings became a part of life over the time and S Koreans naturally overcame such fear and tension and started living a daily life without concerning such dreadful feelings too much. That's does not mean that S Korean forget about the existence of hostile Northern neighbors. In fact, S Korea is quite ready to deal with N Korea and surrounding hostiles with an iron-clad alliance with the US!
great video! can you please tell me - is the tour bilingual (english and korean)? i'll be going with my family, who speak korean, but i barely speak it. thanks
While it has nothing to do with this video, I highly suggest you try Italian pasta while in Seoul. You'll taste some of the best pasta dishes outside of Italy.
Did you get to stand in North Korea? I’m hoping to stand on the border and be half in South Korea and half in North Korea. I’m in Seoul now and am thinking about going on this tour tomorrow 😊
I think they had stopped it for awhile. It was recently reopened when we visited, but also, I believe the itinerary that includes that experience is limited to 14 year olds and older.
Hi which specific tour did you go on, (half or full day, with or without forced shopping that allowed you to stop at the souvenir gift store at the end? I cannot find info online about it so I can sign up for the same one you took? Thanks
@@cherinedoroscik4849 it’s definitely there! Here’s what it says: “Thank you to VIP Travel in Seoul for letting us join their half day tour. Here's the tour we took: www.vviptravel.com/tours/half-day-dmz-tour”
Thank you so very much! I must’ve missed it. The video was great!, I’m doing research on specific tour companies for my son to pick for his tour, as he’s studying abroad there and wants to go to the dmz! Any other interesting places he should see/do there that you liked?
Every once in a while, if relations are good between both countries, they let family members meet for a little while and catch up. It’s the most heartbreaking thing to see a bunch of crying grandmas and grandpas seeing each other for the first time since the Korean War.
Hmm, I think about $85 for the half-day? This is the one we did, but they sponsored our trip so I'm not too sure: www.vviptravel.com/tours/half-day-dmz-tour
The pregnant cows where significant because before the fall of Soviet Union, North Korea was flush with food and supplies (much wealthier then south) but after the fall of the soviet people in the north where starving to death. South sent north supplies to rebuild farming in the north but most if not all the wealth went into the armaments and pockets of the powers of North Korea.
To be honest, I think your itinerary is very disappointing. Who's recommendation? If you stay in Korea, take a night cruise in Seoul with the wealthy neighborhoods of Seoul, the tallest buildings in Korea, the largest parks in Seoul, the most famous Blue House in Seoul and the famous museums in Seoul. Seoul night, the street of youth in Korea, there are many places, but there are many places that you have not been to I hope you all go there.
Hi Antoine, we’re in Seoul for a month and these vlogs are from our first week only. We’ve seen loads (according to our interests)…hope you enjoy the future ones!
I couldn’t disagree more! We’ve been in Seoul for one month and haven’t yet run out of things to see and neighborhoods to explore. I would also love to visit Japan though.
