In all my searches I never found the instructions to build an accurate DNA model so I did the research and did it myself. There are instructions in here that will guide you to build your own representation depicting all atoms within a segment of the molecule. I used styrofoam beads, plastic from a 2 liter bottle, a bamboo skewer, a block of wood, acrylic paint, hot glue, and acrylic paint sealer. Thank you very much. It took some work. There are a little over 700 Adams represented in that model. (It's those sneaky hydrogen atoms that hide so well)

Hi. As far as the number of sugar and phosphate groups, there are two per section, one on each side and there are 11 sections that I built. So I had to assemble 22 of each. I painted styrofoam balls with artists acrylic paint and let them dry. Then I poured some transparent acrylic painting sealer into a small dish, and dipped each piece in it and moved it to a plastic coffee lid. I have found that this kind of plastic will allow acrylic paint to be removed from it fairly easily. It was a bit of a trick stacking the atoms for the phosphorus groups because they tended to want to settle down flat. After I removed them from the plastic surface, I had to trim a little bit of the excess puddle from the pieces using some nail clippers. The acrylic sealer worked also to make the base pairs on the pop bottle ladder rungs, but it required hot glue to assemble the sugar-phosphate chains, because the hot glue dries much faster. I hope that helped you out. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Check out the rest of my channel. I'm an artist and musician and a story writer as well, and I have a lot of other short films. If you get a model done, I'd like to see it
