I suspect the answer to that question is what Shawn is trying to suppress and not deal with. I really wish Mentally Health services were more affordable. Shawn was calm and composed. His demeanor said it all, he was not defensive just calmly stating, "I know the truth of the matter" and he was right. It's unfortunate that Brandon totally believed his mother, who obviously misled him. However, he should have handled the situation cautiously because Shawn had previously wanted a DNA meaning, he wanted Brandon to know the truth at that point.

My advice for Brandon is to put his DNA on "Ancestry" or "My Heritage," for example. It will link him to his maternal and paternal relatives. He might even discover who his natural father is or was. That's how I was linked to my father through a paternal half-sibling and scores of paternal family members. My father died before I found out his identity, but at least I now know the truth.

The Grandma, I suspect is looking for a ‘new ‘ family as there’s clearly very serious tension with Shaun. And Brandon was a replacement son. It was implied that Shaun’s grandmother raised him become his Mother must have done something when he was a kid. She’s probably lonely …and I’m glad Shaun has turned into the rational adult he is. Karamo has a Hallmark view of family and that’s great but just sometimes family are related by blood and nothing else….its that simple. You can actively not get on and dislike each other. His Mother never told him who his father is, this is why she was so insistent on find out rather or not the other young man was her son's son, and really her own grandson or not. Her son loves his mother so much, he can't bring himself to making his mother accountable as to who his own father is. Calling his mother messy is as close as he can come to making her address the real issues regarding his own father. How sad!
