Great video. I always enjoy your content and look forward to it. I recently bought the SP in 28 gauge with a 30” barrel. Only shooting sporting clays with it and I really enjoy shooting it. The automatic safety is a problem when shooting clays. Mine is getting a manual safety today.

That's how I grew up and learned how to shoot shotguns we also got a foot trap around 68 , put more than 1 bird on 3 were about 50-50 for breakage 2 was best. If you want to see a vintage dream of a machine just watch a movie called Secondhand Lions. Great movie also. Keep up the good work. ❤

Interesting new trap you have there. I'm still using my old Trius foot pedal spring traps. They're okay and cheap. It would be nice to try the model that you have and not have to exert so much energy on the pedal. By the way, I have also dropped down to 20 gauge guns. Shoots a pretty good pattern with a lot less recoil on my old shoulders. Thanks for the video.

Such voice activated systems are common on many trap ranges these days. I'm sure it would be quite simple to incorporate one into an amateur machine, if it has not already been done!

@@GunBlue490 indeed! I shoot on a trap league and our club has the speaker cones on stands. I have seen the clip on mics used as well. That Flyaway 80 would be awesome with a clip on mic. I may need to do some engineering 🤔

Thanks for info on this clay thrower and the advice for the home indoor range as well. A video about grooming hunting dogs would be welcomed. My Murphy is quite a handful. Saw an earlier video on trimming Bennie🙏🙏. You and your Murphy are always welcome and are the perfect match. Let you know how the range turns out. SkiDoc

You'll get back into the swing of it, literally, in no time. I looked at getting one of those throwers to get the grandkids into shotgunning, still might. I bought a magnetic pickup wand from Harbor Freight to retrieve hulls without having to bend over in the duck blind/dove field, but have been using it for other things since have not been shotgunning much lately. Best of luck with the pup.

Thank you. Between standing on unstable, moving 2 inch crushed stone, keeping my weight off the foot switch, and being unable to get my weight forward on my replaced left knee, I was shooting off my heels instead of the balls of my feet! Not my finest hour!

Very timely video as I've been thinking about buying one of the automatic throwers such as that. I see that they make a "wobbler kit" for it so that it varies the angle like a regular Trap thrower would do. The shots you are attempting there are difficult in my opinion since the target is coming from right behind you rather than rising like a quail or crossing like a dove. No wonder it took a few shots to calibrate your lead and start hitting! :)
@GunBlue490
@GunBlue490 4 месяца назад
I forgot to mention that this trap came with a wobbler mounting plate, at no extra cost. A wobbler would certainly require a deep cycle battery.

That's a great suggestion! Traditionally, field grade, break open guns used for hunting have employed safeties that reset on opening, while those designed for clay sports have manual safeties, for the very reason that frustrated me. Another distinction may sometimes--not always--be the use of non spring loaded extractors that lift, rather than eject, spent shells on target guns, favored especially by those who reload. Ejectors can often be modified as extractors by removal of the springs that would otherwise fling hulls forcefully. In any event, ejectors only perform as lifting extractors if the barrel has not been fired, as it requires firing to set the ejector spring.

Thank you for the in-depth reply! Also shotgun fit would be another great topic to discuss and how much rib should you see etc. depending on use. Cheers

Do you prefer ejectors in a double gun? I rather prefer extractors as I don’t have to pick up the shells later or catch them in the air, though I am in CA so temperatures usually don’t require gloves..

i remember havbing a remington 1100 12 gauge standard. and a remington 870 express in 20 guage. i actually hit more with the 20 guage. just didnt ''dust'' them. but ... get t his. i won a turkey competition during the autum season. a hit was a hit. and i did it with the 20 guage remington 870 the pump. after i won that my dads buddy (this was about 20 years ago) handed me his own 1100 because he "didnt think i could actually shoot that good and it was rigged) well his 12 guage rem-1100 was customized with a hair trigger. i was bringing it up to yell pull and learned trigger discipline that day. because i shot the shit out of the clay launcher box just raising it. hair trigger is no joke. After things got settiled i said. are you out of shells. cuz once i had that terrifiying discharge as a kid i was ready after getting used to it. . and the guy litterally gave us a discount on it to buy it. because i was able to (see and anticipate the spread) for the clays. there was a local bar that bet on me.

This isn’t related to this video but I have a cracked elevation knob on my Garand. It’s the T105e1 sight. How do I get it apart and put it back together with available kits out there. I’ve seen people ask and they are told to just buy a whole new sight set. Figured you’re the guy to go to. I also bought a lock bar sight to replace it while I figured out how to fix the elevation on the t105 and whenever I listen the lock bar to adjust my elevation knob moves and adjusts elevation. It’s annoying. Thank you sir if you read this.

Thank you for your videos. They are an immense resource! Subscribed. I also have a copper coloured Brittany. They're wonderful companions. Condolences on your loss of Benny. I'm new to rifles. I'm looking at a new Winchester Model 70 Featherweight chambered in 30-06. Is it a rifle you would recommend? Can it group to 1 MOA? Is 30-06 a good caliber for someone with only one rifle. Hello Jack - It's a great channel. I have learned enough to build/restore rifles and bullet casting/reloading, also with the help of all the books Gunblue put's forward. Remember, pretty much, you have to be able to shoot what you have. Do you know anyone with a rifle, are you able to join a shooting club to practice?
