You are spot on. There are too many of us fishing, with ever increasing technology. My granddaughters have experienced the back country of the Everglades, and I want them to be able to share it with their kids. I haven’t kept a snook, red, or trout for years now. I feel too guilty when I look to the future.

Totally support the catch and release ethos, coming from the UK it was the only way Ive ever done it. A fish is too valuable to be only caught once. We need to respect the future

We re-apply procure every 10 casts in tournaments. Difference maker. And if not it’s at least a confidence booster none-the-less.

When I go fishing I only keep a fish or two I release every fish over twenty inches I'm single so one seventeen inch trout will feed me most of the time I don't keep fish I'm just goofing off before work I work two till ten so I don't wanna fool with keeping fish plus I can launch five different places within five miles from my house so I fish most of the time just for fun and relaxation

I never comment on these things but as a guide there in CR and Tampa as well as Alaska … I only let my clients keep what they can eat in a day.. I make it clear when they book so it’s fair. Guides have to protect the resource we see daily or it will go away

I came from bass fishing. And I've always been catch and release. I'm in it for the fun. If I want to eat fish that bad I'll just go buy some. I'd rather have fun on the water than save some money on one meal.

Fact it works. Having caught Redfish on a gulp dead sticked while eating a sandwich, on another trip when we didn't have gulp we slathered Pro Cure mullet on a non scented soft plastic and sure enough a Redfish ate it dead sticked too.

Appreciate the content. Here in NC - Release over 20" is big and more and more fishermen are becoming stewards of the environment which I think is awesome. If we all would work together the powers that be would not have to even get involved.

I’m like you I only keep some every now and then and I usually try to wait for the days when I go to deep water. I’m curious though, as a guide are you successful telling your clients it’s a catch and release boat? I’d really like to get more of the people I’m guiding on board with this but haven’t quite figured out how to positively navigate the conversation. Great video as usual CA!

most states like mine you have to release most of the species anyways , so if the only fish you catch is over 20 for a species allowed to keep, most people who pay for a license gear boat taxes insurance want to keep that fish .

Ok so i’ll be the guy to post against catch and release over 20 issue and here’s why. Unlike Florida where I’m at up in Eastern Carolina we are the only state that still allows inshore commercial netting. We already have a Two week long one fish flounder season , a one a day redfish 18-27 limit, a three day Striped Bass 18-22 one fish limit and currently our Speckled Trout are four fish Fourteen inch limit. We are going through what Florida went through in the 1990s with the war between recreational and Commercial with Marine fisheries running the show for inshore and NC Wildlife for fresh. it’s a Mess! On top of that I fish once a week if i’m lucky or at least until I retire in a few years , can’t wait 😁. When I get to go once a week i’m not always targeting Trout and if I am targeting Trout I might not even catch my limit of Four that day, I’m still learning which is why i’m subscribed to this channel, now with all that being said you think If I catch one or two fish that day and let’s say a 17 and a 22 incher I should throw the 22 incher back because more than likely they will just end up swimming into a commercial net? Naw I don’t think so . Great video by the way .

In my experience , West Coast Florida trout do not get as fat and heavy as North Carolina trout. West Coast Florida trout are also way more abundant than North Carolina trout. If you use and want that 22 inch North Carolina trout, keep it, no guilt no shame , you are we are not what’s wrong with North Carolina fisheries.

Agreed, It’s funny how even Marine fisheries is throwing around the ideal of a slot 16-19 to protect the big breeders but that slot won’t apply to the inshore gill netters , nice huh?

Pat- definitely feel your pain in NC. So many that make the political decisions in that state have direct ties to commercial fishing which perpetuates the problem. In that state the recreational angler is not as much of the problem because of the nominal catches but we do have to find away so you to will have a trophy trout fishery. Appreciate your take on this issue in NC.

I'm in SE NC too, and our fishery is a mess. Besides inshore gill netting, they allow gigging. Add to that the developments encroaching on the estuaries and ocean front, and the entanglement of the commercial fishing lobby and legislators, it's a problem that won't go away anytime soon.

Absolutely, when you and I the working Man Recreational fisherman gets to fish that one flounder day for the two week season our one fish isn’t doing damage like the nets dragging the bottom . Also hard to say if but the charter captain doing 5 trips a day with 5 clients gigging the whole two weeks.

I live in Pasco and would love to either do a charter with you or see some vids on how i should learn to fish my area. I bought a JV17 skiff and love it but cannot for the life of me get on fish

Bobby I haven’t been getting emails but I don’t actually run the web page. I don’t do charters on a regular basis anymore but for a few longtime clients. Just focusing more on our media business and the new Flats Class University launch for February. But I will do some videos for Pasco County coming up this winter and Spring!

"Gulp" products don't have a "scent", they have a stench.They aren't durable, and closely resemble a doctors prescription: small quantities, overpriced.

I absolutely love procure and zman combo. Best there is imo ( especially during fall and winter ) Ive tired gulp , dr jucie and so many other scent products but they are so runny and literally run right off the bait as you are putting it on the bait. As far as keeping fish im right there dead on with you ca. Nothing wrong with a fish or two but the size limits, bag limits and seasons here in florida are absolutely ridiculous. Redfish and trout need to have seasons put back on them like they use to have. Redfish minimum slot size needs to be bumped from 18 to at least 22" and keep top slot at 27" remain 1 per person. Trout slot is fine at 15 to 19" but they should stop the 1 over. Absolutely ridiculous they allow people to take gator trout. And cut it down to 2 per person. This whole 4 or 5+ per person is absolutely sickening. Those that keep this many are selfish and greedy.

Strictly catch and release! As far as scent is concerned, I personally have not had any success using them. Every fish I have ever caught have been without the use of artificial scents. Not saying they don't work, but I've never caught!

This time of year when water temps hover in low 60’s or dip to the chilly 50’s I find it helpful on lures
