I mean, 20 milliseconds is NOT a humanly quantifiable measure of time, and even outside the accuracy specification claims of Dragy. It's hard to really say it's a definitive performance increase when we're talking about less than one-third of one percent change haha
Same day…Same car…Same temperature…Same Road & the car was run within 30 minutes of each other with a measurable and repeatable increase in a measured performance metric. Same results with my M5. Does it make a HUGE difference? No Does it a make marginal difference? Yes Was this test mostly for fun and in the name of carguy science? Absolutely 😎
i think most drop in filter are more for sound and trottle reponse then actuly power gains hks literally on claim increase trottle reponse for there drop in filter and bmc is one of the best air filter companies out there so i guess its kind of worth it.
I agree but had fun with the experiment and to my surprise there was a slight improvement in acceleration. Same day and runs were done back to back. BMC makes a quality filter.
Thanks for the feedback! Both times I installed BMC filters in my M cars I saw a similar improvement with the 0-60mph Same day, same temps & better results.
You cant do one run back to back 'same road same temps' and draw a conclusion that the filters make power. You need make multiple runs and avg it out. Or at least take the launch out of the equation and do a longer run to compare. Car looks great though.
Appreciate your opinion & thanks for checking the channel out! Back to back runs on the same road, same temps on the same day within an hour apart is exactly what you want when doing an apples to apples comparison. Ironically my 2022 M5 Comp saw similar results when I did the same back to back comparison. Real world test & results plus it was done in the name of fun. 😎
Traction plays a huge role in 0-60 times and that the reason I made sure the runs were made on the - same day - same temperature - same stretch of road These factors play a role as well. I found similar results with when testing BMC filters on my M3z From what I gathered they offer an improvement in sound & performance.
@@carguy302 did you have any exhaust mods when you did this or a decat? Mine gets delivered on Tuesday and ordered some of these filters, also had them on my C63S
When you took the charcoal filter out, you left the plastic structure. Aren't you concerned that under load, due to suction generated the plastic eventually can collapse and fall in. I am about to do this mod and debating to leave it as is like you did or may be cutting the plastic structure that used to hold the charcoal filter out.
That's a great question...I was not concerned that the plastic structure would collapse under load. The part was designed to withstand the air entering the intake tract.
Great question…The charcoal filters are an unnecessary addition to the cars due to BS carb requirements on manufacturers. Removing the charcoal filters are proven to provide more air flow and sound.
@@carguy302 before I put in the filters I did some research because I also thought the strut braces needed to be removed. Some guy selling over priced drop in filters did a video and he showed that once you loosen all the screws and the intake clamp, the top of the filter housing can easily be wiggled out of place and goes back just as easy.
Only a 🤡 like you would say something so ignorant. You do realize 0-60 is a performance metric used by every auto manufacture etc. Just like quarter mile times, 60-130 etc. If you’d like to see those stats for the car check out the other videos 😉 Now go back under the rock you crawled out of TROLL
