... there is no more clear what is written in ....John 21: 25 There was much else that Jesus did; if it were written down in detail, I do not suppose the world itself would hold all the books that would be written..... besides Jesus sat with the apostles to teach them apart from the rest of the people, in a different level.

Protestants are so stuck in the 'bible alone" idea. This anonymous caller is obviously, oblivious about the bible himself, I don't think he is understanding what Trent is telling him....but him calling the program is a good sign, it shows he wanted some clarification in whatever it is that confuses him.

etrnlygr8tful Oh wow... so I wonder why we see Jesus always saying "IT IS WRITTEN". Psalm 146:3 Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. Psalm 118:9 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes. Isaiah 2:22 Don’t put your trust in mere humans. They are as frail as breath. What good are they? Jeremiah 17:5-6 This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord. Psalm 60:11 Oh, please help us against our enemies, for all human help is useless.

What about this one? Paul's letter to Timothy is where the "all scripture is useful" line appears. Paul wrote this letter to Timothy sometime around 45-50 A.D. The first Gospel which became "scripture" (scripture means written) was Mark's, which was written in about 60 AD The Gospel of John was written about 90 AD The Book of Revelation was written about 100 AD So, when Paul tells Timothy that all scripture is useful, he could not have been talking about the four Gospels, or Revelation, or Acts, or anything else in the New Testament. The only "scripture" was the Old Testament, which by the way includes Second Maccabees and it's proof of the existence of purgatory (or something conceptually similar anyway). Second Maccabees was part of scripture until Martin Luther removed it. Yet, Protestants use this verse to say that scriptures which hadn't been written yet contain the entire truth. When one places Protestantism under the microscope, and examines it objectively, he realizes that the Catholic Church is the only logical truth.

"Come together in common, one and all without exception in charity, in one faith and in one Jesus Christ, who is of the race of David according to the flesh, the son of man, and the Son of God, so that with undivided mind you may obey the bishop and the priests, and break one Bread which is the medicine of immortality and the antidote against death, enabling us to live forever in Jesus Christ." -Ignatius of Antioch, 90 AD Are you sure the Catholic Church has "implemented" things that are not "biblical?" Check out the writings of the first Christian leaders, the guys who learned the faith from the Apostles, before there even was a hand-held bible to read and quote from... you may be surprised. Be well.

To believe in sola scriptora is to believe the bible as a whole was sent down at one time and then Christianity had its teachings to start off. They refuse to acknowledge that during the time the apostles were teaching many church's would be preaching from the teachings of the old testing the writings of the apostles to them and the traditions they also received from them. Otherwise the apostles appear to have done a half hearted attempt in capturing all their message as 40 authors surely would have taught more than what was written down.

Gregory II mandated a number of practices within the Church. He decreed that in Lent, on the Thursdays, people should fast, just as they were required to do during the other days of the week. Apparently the practice had been frowned upon by popes of previous centuries, as pagans had fasted on Thursday as part of their worship of Jupiter.[23] He also prescribed the offices to be said during church services on Thursdays in Lent, as prior to this, the Mass of the preceding Sunday was said on those Thursdays.[2

+piontl no salvation is faith alone, ur good work can't earn u ur salvation only jesus and god's grace can give u salvation, if u say faith + work that's the trust of work not trust of god, ur work doesn't earn salvation and btw that dose not mean we don't do work we do work for the kingdom of light harder than everyone but we trust jesus and god alone. And in Catholic Church all they been doin is satanic sacrifices and kill those who try to follow Jesus, even bow days they still offer jesus to god everyday, and bible shows that that's putting god in open shame so I highly doubt how many Catholics actually follow god's word than believe in human logic

Kevin Zhang Faith alone is having faith in yourself, look at Matthew 25:31-46 , where our Lord gives salvation all to those who had completed works. I could very well say that having faith alone is too much trust in yourself, and not in scripture, we are called to work just as much as to believe. James 2:24 - That we are justified by works, and not by faith alone. (In that we have works and faith, not works alone) And making inferences about Catholicism does not strengthen your argument. But in refute, Satanic sacrifices and killing is definitely not something we do. Give evidence if you want a refutation. The Catholic Church is the one true Church. As all the first Christians were a part of.If you have beef with the way we do things, then you have beef with the apostles and the early Christians.

+Saral Israel Shrestha From personal experience, a lot of protestants don't understand what the Catholic church teaches concerning the role of works in salvation. Some, such as Kevin Zhang, think that works earn the initial graces of salvation which is a condemned heresy of palagianism. Catholic believe that the initial graces of faith that lead to conversion are a free gift and cannot be earned. However, once we have that faith we can perform good works in christ that God finds pleasing and rewards us with more grace for complying with the grace of faith.

Back in the 50's and 60's we never had Bibles in the house, the Nuns and Brother were specific in teaching us to leave the Bible to Scholars, we had the Catachism. We only heard the Gospels on Sunday, and the Homily in English from Priests. The Bible was a Pandora's Box that would destroy the protestant church and further alienate the Anglican and Lutheran Religions. They,Nuns and Brothers told us that we would be lost once we started to Question God. Faith is the foundation of our teaching, something that man will struggle with once he leaves childhood.

Were not all using the same Bible. The protestants are missing 7 books in Old Testament. Why? They took out 7 books. The Catholic Church that Jesus began Matthew 6 16 18 Isaiah 22 the ten commandments John 20 19 23 Jesus institutes confession giving his authority to apostles Atonement in Old John 6 51 55 Jesus institutes Eucharist Passover i Old God commanded his people to eat all of lamb Who was the blameless lamb to represent? Jesus a foreshadowing of Jesus Messiah Paul says work out your salvation with fear and trembling Before New we had the Old Testament of Jews The Catholic faith kept all the books Jesus spoke from. One must understand completely all of Old Testament to understand correctly the New Testament. The Catholic faith as safeguarded the early written letters of apostles copied them painstakingly. The protestant Bible came from the Catholic Church the rosary is in scripture on the rosary we say the Our Father each day of the week has what is called a Mystery. The mystery is about life of Messiah. Monday Joyful speaks about when Angel came to Mary to when Jesus was found in Temple Tuesday sorrowful speaks of agony in garden all the way to Crucifixion. Wed Glorious Resurrection to coronation Thrus Lumin. Jesus baptized instituting of Eucharist Fri sorrowful again we are to think upon in mind also Hail Mary those words are in scripture The Mass is in Revelation Mary is in Old Testament Gen 3 15 Isaiah 7 14 Luke Rev Micah birth of Lord

The Apocrypha was never accepted by the Jews as inspired , but as partly useful historical writings during the Greek period .Early church writers such as Justin Martyr A.D. 100 frequently refers to the Gospels calling them memories of the Apostles. and mentions ten N.T. books. He also gives us a description of a N.T. church meeting .He said the people gather on Sunday the Prophets and the memoirs of the Apostles are read, the president explains and exhorts, this is followed by taking the bread and wine and finally the collection. This is the pattern for many evangelical churches plus hymns which are mentioned by Paul.

+Wendy Mitchell No, the Apostles acknowledged that the Scriptures (OT, at that time, which included the deuterocanonical writings) is inspired of God, and they exhorted Christians to hold to the traditions (Apostolic teachings) they were taught. 1Thess says "15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle." This tells us that Paul didn't write down EVERYTHING he taught concerning the Gospel message. This is because he knew that Jesus didn't commission the writing of a collection of letters for the purpose of spreading His good news. He built His Church on the foundation of the Apostles for the purpose of spreading the Gospel and leading/teaching/guarding/disciplining His flock on earth. You are right to say we are told not to add to or subtract from Scripture. Yet, that's what happened when Luther excised parts he didn't like, based on his on "infallible" authority. Until that time, all Christians accepted the 73 books of the Bible. If you're going to lean on Scripture alone to know everything Jesus and the Apostles taught, you really should have a complete Bible. (oh, I guess I'm assuming your Bible has 66 books... if I'm wrong, in that, just ignore this paragraph... ;) Pax Christi

+Wendy Mitchell In Acts 15, the Church leaders came together to deal with the issue of whether Gentile converts had to be circumcized or not. So, during the discussions, did any of them say that they could only consult the scriptures for the answer? Did anybody even offer to do so? When they made their decision, did they say, "Thus sayeth the scriptures..."?

Protestants believe in the canonical books of the bible because of their own "tradition" which is handed from generation to generation. Same thing goes for their belief of the Trinity and that Jesus is God. But they have no idea where those concepts came from originally. They can't even prove it historically. They can say that that is what the early church believed in which is correct. Yet they can't find a link between the early Church and their churches. Only Catholics can. Cuz the Catholic Church was and still is the very same early Church of Christ.
@wendymitchell5757

+Beloved Child Protestants ,if they are Christians, base their beliefs on scripture not tradition, including the trinity.Without the deity of Christ there is no salvation ,as all have sinned. He is the only begotten,(single offspring) of the father. The R.C. claim that the church was the same ,based on a few writers is not correct.Don't forget the false teachers were already in the N.T. church.

John 1:14, "And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 5:18, "For this cause therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God."John 8:24, "I said therefore to you, that you shall die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins." Note: In the Greek, "He" is not there. John 8:58, "Jesus said to them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.'" Exodus 3:14, "And God said to Moses, 'I AM WHO I AM'; and He said, Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’" John 10:30-33, "I and the Father are one." 31 The Jews took up stones again to stone Him. 32 Jesus answered them, "I showed you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you stoning Me?" 33 The Jews answered Him, "For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make Yourself out to be God."John 20:28, "Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!"Col. 2:9, "For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form."Phil. 2:5-8, "Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."Heb. 1:8, "But of the Son He says, "Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom." The Catholics teach that the rosary should be performed every day. I'd like to have ANYONE show me that from the Bible. Where did God tell us to perform a rosary? The Rosary, or prayer beads, was introduced by Peter the Hermit, in the year 1090...copied from Hindus and Mohammedans. The counting of prayers is a pagan practice and is expressly condemned by Christ (Matthew 6:5-13). The rosary should NEVER be performed by anyone, it is sinful. Jesus condemned chants and recited prayers... "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking." -Matthew 6:7

Ella You seem to believe anything your 'church ' teaches you without checking it out .Study what the Bible says and history. The Roman church did NOT give the protestants the Bible .It was written by the apostles, the gospels copied in the early church ,and called memories of the apostles.Soon followed by the other writings by James ,Peter and Paul .There are thousands of early hand written manuscripts taken all over the Roman Empire .There was no Roman catholic church in the first 300 yrs. The first evidence is in 311-14 a council held in Rome at the request of the Emperor in the Lateran palace . Constantine ordered 3 churches for the 'Pope'.Jerusalem had been the main church in New Test. times .There was no other'.head ' church in that time ,each was self governing lead by elders. The orthodox churches did not always agree with the Roman. The Roman church in 1546 declared its Canon of scripture including the apocrypha which was never accepted by the Jews or Jesus as being inspired. Jesus said all of the apostles were the foundation of the church as they were chosen to write the N.T. Peter was chosen as apostle to the Jews and Paul to go to the gentiles and Rome ,he never mentions Peter being there at all .in his letters.Linus said to be first Pope we know little about ,the letter about Peter and Paul said to be by him was 6th cent..

Madame Poovie The rcc did not gives us the Bible, God did. As for the different denominations, I really do not have a problem with that as Paul said some prophesy some speak in tongues etc, that's the gifts of the spirit manifesting amongst followers of Christ. As for any catholic,in church being the "true" church , it certainly isn't the rcc, it would be the Orthodox Church, which the rcc broke away from. But that being said. Since you make he claim the rcc church is the first and true church, Paul wrote about you, not to believe in man made traditions and to beware of false doctrine

Do Roman Catholic doctrines contradict the Bible? Yes, yes they do.

No they do not. Get a catechism. Scripture (the Bible) is along side and completely in sync with Catholic teaching. The Church Jesus built would never contradict the Word of God.

Catholic doctrine and holy scripture are two different things

Yes , sadly the catholic doctrine is not biblical.

YES rcc man made doctrines DO conflict with God's Holy Word. Mary was a sinner, rcc says no. Mary says she needed a Savior, rcc says no. It's in black and white. One is correct one is wrong, no shades of grey. You either believe man made doctrine or God is a liar and the Bible is not true.

doug1863 Actually, we say yes to the second thing, and we have a reasonable explanation for the first. I know the real facts are hard to find amongst the myths and stereotypes, but if you dig a little deeper you should find what the Catholic Church actually believes about these things, not just what RU-vid says we do.

Wrong. Check the Catechism. From cover to cover, it is FULL of Holy Scripture.
