Welcome to the crocs community! Here's something I've learned: when the strap is up, it can be called "attack" or "lounge" mode, and when it's down it can be called "defense" or "sport" mode.
I've been wearing crocs on my prosthesis at home for years. Most prostheses are designed to be worn with shoes, but at home, I dont want to wear exterior shoes. Crocs are the solution and they save my back and knees while still being super comfy. P.s. knock off versions work just as well and save your bank account!
Knock offs won’t save you money in the long run. I have my original crocs for almost 10 years and they are still good. Didn’t even lose colour, the strap holds on well too
@@maciek5917 yeah I do have to agree that the on brand crocs always seem to last longer. Personally I have switched to Birkenstocks over crocs in the last few years, but the only reason why is bc they have better arch support and are therefore more comfortable for me
@@maciek5917 I will say, it depends on how much you wear them. In every season but the winter, my crocs are very well loved. While they work very well for me, I tend to need a new pair about every year because the soles wear through and I can feel everything on the ground through the bottoms
@@beth_m my 2 boys do , they suppose to be indoor shoes but they also wear them outside all the time, they even wore them on the quad bike going to neighbours ( 1 mile/ 1.5 km) to pick up fresh milk
I’ve been using Crocs with my prothetic since I got it Nov 2022. I’ve not had problems getting it on/off nor any slipping or sliding. I’ve even driven our manual trans Mini Cooper. Welcome to the world of Crocs. 😎
I really like crocs because they have a soft give, which makes my feet hurt less when walking and standing a lot. I don't get the hate, they're comfortable!
You should look into the brand Kisiks for good slip on tennis shoes! They have multiple styles as well, but you can literally just step into them because of how the back of the shoe is made, they are SO handy, especially for people with disabilities! Never have to bend down to tie your shoes again and they are great for when you need shoes with more comfort/stability than crocs. They are a little pricey, but great quality and totally worth it in my opinion! I'm pretty sure Jo actually has some! Highly recommend!❤
As a fellow amputee...crocs have been a favorite of mine for years now. I've even learned that they won't fall/slip off if I'm wearing thick socks during the winter. I like that the back strap thing on them is soft and flexible vs other similar shoes/sandles that have to be tightened and inevitably damage the foot component. Replacing a foot on a prosthetic leg isn't cheap or fun.
I’m so glad you tried the crocs! I actually recommended you try them a few weeks ago, so I’m very happy they didn’t lead you astray! Crocs are fun and comfy, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy the jibbitz charms. 😊
I wasn’t a crocs person. Until I became disabled. I dunno why, maybe the lack of bending down to put them on, or the squish helping my ankles, as well as the room for my feet to swell up really bad, but they’re my BFFs now. Also that strap works really well on your design of foot! If it inches up, it instead rests on the top of the foot, and doesn’t slide because of the lack of pointed foot motion which is where crocs slide the most in my experience
I don't understand why people hate on crocs. They are SO COMFORTABLE. I can use them as outdoor slippers sometimes when I want to get the paper and it's raining outside. (That happens often, I live in Seattle.)
i personally don't hate them, they seem comfy and are really good for people who need simplicity and ease of use. if they're your thing, good! ...you will never catch me dead in them, though. i'd rather go barefoot on gravel. there's something about how they exist that is deeply offensive to me, like a footwear version of the uncanny valley.
I used to wear Crocs as a kid and they always gave me blisters. I never understood how people found them to be comfortable. But to be fair to the Crocs, it's been about 10 years and I never wore them with socks because I used them as water shoes.
I've been a crocs fan ever since they first came out. The strap can be pushed up for easy on, easy off! Also, the sole seems to adjust perfectly to fit my prosthetic foot!
I was super surprised when Crocs worked on my daughters AFO’s. With the design of her braces even some low top shoes slip off since she doesn’t have a prominent “heel” but that strap really holds!
As someone who wears crocs in that EXACT shade of purple but without the fuzz, i approve, also personally i always wear them in sports mode because they wont stay on my (not amputated) feet in leisure mode, and with socks which some people seem to not approve of
my crocs are currently my only wearable shoe (I think, haven't tried the others) because I dropped a bench seat on my foot the other day and they make it less awkward to walk but also fit my big socks that don't squash my injured toes (yes my crocs are a bit too big for me but it's very good at the moment)
There was a girl who I knew who graduated high school, but she was a amputee below the knee just like how yours is and she absolutely loved crocs and wore them all the time
I used to have crocs, cant say theyre aesthetically my thing but also cant deny they are very convenient to just slide on and off nice n quickly. Generally more of a sandals person tho. May have something to do with once having stepped in some glass cause my crocs slipped off outside... though I suppose thats one of those things that might be less of an issue with a prosthetic?
I’m also an amputee and I love wearing my crocs!! It’s the only shoe that I have found to work for me and be comfortable. I deal with a lot of nerve pain. Sometimes it’s unbearable and with any other show it’s a lot worse. I love watching your videos!!
First leg amputee i ever met wore bright red crocs. We were waiting in line for a ride at one of those petting farms with activities and rides. And i was like 5 with no filter and immediately asked why his foot didnt look real. He immediately took off his leg and scared the crap out of me. Love you red crocs guy, i hope youre doing well 😄
My mom lost her big toe a few years ago and she's had problems finding slip on shoes that work for her since (she's very self conscious). But after nagging forever I finally just bought her a pair and she loves them. Comfy, breathable (I got her fuzzy ones and then regular ones in the spring) and they cover her foot. Crocs are great!!
Crocs are an adaptable/accessibility item for many reasons. An important item in many disabled folks wardrobe ❤😊🐊 (I have the wallmark knock offs but they do the job 🦈)
Since I got diagnosed diabetic last year and also had foot surgery, I'm on doctor's orders to always wear something on my feet when walking, even around the house. The go-to at home: strap-down crocs.
There are velcro back straps to replace the original straps that you can buy for that slightly tighter fit if you are that worried about them falling off
