Do Filipinos really need to work abroad to be rich?

depende yan sa OFW, kung masinop at marunong ka talagang humawak ng pera lalo na kung alam mo kung bakit ka nag-abroad (dahil sa pangarap mo) giginhawa din buhay nyo. KUNG hindi naging OFW ang Tatay ko noon HINDI kami makapagtatapos LAHAT ng Kolehiyo lalo na lumalaki ang gastusin ng Pamilya namin noon at hindi naman makakasapat ang kinikita ng mga Magulang ko Pinas. Kaya nga noong pa-graduate na ang bunso kong kapatid pinauwi na namin si Tatay sa Pinas dahil yun lang naman talaga ang dahilan kaya sya nasa Saudi at HINDI PARA YUMAMAN. Kaya rin napipilitan ang karamihan na mag-OFW dahil WALANG OPPORTUNITY SA PINAS! kapag umabot ka na sa 35 years old pahirapan ng makahanap ng maayos na trabaho, mas prepare nila ang bata na mas mababa ang suweldo kaysa sa may mga Experienced na. Kahit ako naging OFW din dahil dyan sa kawalan ng Job Opportunity sa Pinas. Yun marami nga dyan nagtratrabaho sila ng underpaid o kaya hindi related sa mga tinapos nila ang mga trabaho nila ngayon sa Pinas ex. mga Nurses, Seamen, Teachers, etc. Tama rin naman yun sinabi na mas magandang mag-OFW yung mga Professional dahil mas malaki talaga ang kita abroad kumpara sa mga DH o Laborer na laging naaabuso. Dapat talaga iregulate din ang mga OFW lalo na yung mga DH na mga Pinay lalo na yun may maliliit pang mga anak (sa Middle east).

The primary reason why people work abroad is economic. If there are jobs available locally and pays enough to live a comfortable life,then Filipinos will be happy staying at home with their loved ones. Working overseas means a lot of hard work,sacrifice etc but you have to give up something in return. Being “rich “ is a misnomer. Accumulating wealth takes time and savings for the old age period. You could be the most learned individual in the country but the local companies can’t match the compensation offered by the foreign counterparts abroad. In foreign countries, the law and society is very much different than in the Philippines. You can be a low wage earner but still can live a life in some cases to those in the higher wage earner. One example is driving . The Philippine motorists are the most undisciplined drivers in the world. In the US, I feel driving is a pleasure, in the Philippines, it’s a nightmare.

With all do respect, I’m not an OFW but I’m so disgusted on how you downgrade our OFW. If these people did not sacrifice and work to other countries as Nannies or labourers, Do you think our country Philippines will be this successful? Don’t you ever underestimate them. They are our true heroes in our country. Who does most of the shopping/grocery in our country? They are our balikbayans. So please, don’t insult them.

Not all Filipinos work 2-3 jobs I myself only work 1 job .. The main thing is. You have to learn to save not a big spender

Because the country is so poor. You can see all women try to get marry with foreigner. Also there's so many of them working in Thailand and Singapore and such and people in that country don't want them

I think the FA is either so naïve, disingenuous , or talking smokes and mirrors!!! I left the Phil 45 years ago. I had the passion, education, ambition and good training, but found it very hard to stay there. I found that the country was full of corruption, nepotism, inequality, and lack or real opportunity for my level of education. I simply don't have MONEY & connection. I can survive alone but not enough to support a family, so I left. I don't regret it. Now as a senior citizen, I was going on a cruise and found lots of Filipinos working in a cruise ship. Some have higher education for the work they do. Most said to me----there are just not enough jobs in the Philippines!!!Perhaps, one of the answer should be, Filipinos should not be making too many babies. The country is over-populated.

Pero ang Karamihan sa OFWs They Have a Good and Comfortable life. Especially. Profesionals. Pero yung mga US Based Filipinos . Goodlife is guaranty To All of them. .

Here in the US it’s what you know not unlike there wherein it’s who you know some times. I was able to establish my own biz through hard work. And yes of course nothing is easy at first but you got to have the mindset and the skills to be successful. And I completely agree that you have to save and think of your retirement and another thing is that healthcare benefits here is way better than in the Philippines unfortunately...

ang brother in law ko at kapatid niya ay High school graduate lang, ano ang magiging future nila sa Pilipinas kung nag stay sila dito sa pinas. mabuti na lang naka pasok sila sa U.S. navy noong early 70's, kaya natulungan nila ang kanilang younger 2 kapatid at mga pinsan na makatapos sa college.

Kahit norwegian or filipinos ka hindi ka pwedi na magkaruon ng 2-3 jobs here in Norway. 7,5 hrs. Lang ang minimum dito.pag maover ka sa 7,5 hrs overtime Mo na yon. sa Norway 5 days a week lang ang work mo pag 100% ka . Equal talaga sila dito. Napaka ganda ang system dito sa Norway pagmagkasakit ka w/ pay ka pa until na makabalik ka sa work Mo. Tapos libre ang hospital /school dito..at saka hindi naman lahat na may utang sa banko. . Matagal na ako dito sa Norway nakatira napaka peacefull na bansa . Thanks God wala akong utang kahit ano man.... 😊

Sa opinion ko hindi totoo yung "magtrabaho ka dn ng 3 sa pinas para yumaman ka, kasi silang mga ofw may kotse at bahay pero 3 trabaho halos di na natutulog" ako mismo naranasan ko na 3 trabaho dito sa abroad, mahirap sya pero kaya. Sa pinas mamamatay ka sa pagod kung 3 trabaho mo. Sa experience ko sa pinas yung 6hours na shift mo kayumbas yung pagod mo ng 12 oras sa abroad. Sa abroad convenient pa din. Mabilis byahe. Mas magaan trabaho. Sa pinas byahe pa lang isang trabaho na. At sa abroad per hour bayad. Sa abroad experience ang basehan kahit walang diploma. Sa pinas college graduate ka na may time pa na matatambay ka kasi mahirap maghanap work. Sa abroad pasa ka resume ngayon. Within 1 week may work ka na, minsan kinabukasan start agad. Sa pinas ubos na unang sweldo mo sa paglalakad ng requirements buwan pa hihintayin. Base lang sa karanasan ko

You're missing the whole point. In the Philippines there are not a lot of good opportunities to land on a good job.

How many filipinos working abroad are rich? I am sure there are very few. Those that may be rich are rich because they took care if their money and invested wisely. Many Filipinos achieve this without working as an OFW, so working overseas is not the reason.

I tell you one thing you will not get rich if you just work in abroad. You will only get rich if you have big business making 1 million per year. That you will get rich in abroad. If you just work overseas, you will only make just enough to pay your bills, unless you save all your money and never eat.
