Over short training sessions, and weight distributed in a way to avoid excessive wear and tear on joints/back, I can see it having benefit, allowing one to squeeze more from a short amount of time. Military guys seem to manage. The body does require rest periods though, so constantly wearing a lot of weight is not tenable.

I did my own little experiment with weighted clothing many years ago. I had planned to take it all the way to 2 Gs worth of weight, which would have been 205 lbs of weighted clothing lol I made a vest, belt, wrist weights, and ankle weights. I had planned to make a type of shorts but never got that far. I started off with only like 5 lbs total. Spread over the wrist and ankle and would add a few lbs every week. Wearing it every night at my 3rd shift job under my clothes. After 3 months I was at 42 lbs. I did notice I was a lot more ripped then normal(I had been working out for years and was never really ripped) and my endurance without it was noticeable better. I don't know if it was the heat or just the literal weight on me but it was so difficult and honestly almost made me feel depressed wearing it lol I gave up on it and never finished it. @TheKillerman3333
@TheKillerman3333 24 дня назад
There is a greater issue at play. I don't have access to the studies but I suspect that they ran into the same fundamental flaw. Gradual increase of weight was not recorded. Goku trained for years and it isn't clear when he started using weighted clothing. By the time we see him, he already wore 300 pounds worth of weight. First of all, I will say that it’s actually pretty impressive that you can do a pull-up (not perfectly clean, but better than most people even without additional weight added) with that much added weight on; I can tell that your grip/back/pulling strength is much better than an average person, maybe because you’re a rock climber. Although, at only 1.5x, there are many planets with higher surface gravity (it’s only once you’re above 2.5-3x that it’s higher than even Jupiter). Also, this doesn’t really mimic living on increased gravity planets since all the weight is concentrated outside of various body regions, rather than every individual particle of your body being pulled harder in an evenly distributed way. Arguably, what you’re doing is actually more difficult than moving around in 1.5x gravity, although in that situation your heart would also have to pump much harder to ensure the blood doesn’t pool in your feet.

I think it is really hard to do the weighted training properly. The number one issue is, that for it to work (and not hurt), you need to gradually increase the weight and exercise in the same way you would without it. If you change your workout and movements to accommodate the weight, you are doing something else than you would without the weight later. It also takes quite a long time for bones and especially joints to adapt to the increased weight. And depending on the training ,it is more likely to increase your endurance rather than raw strength. Also, I think you need to wear extra weight for months or rather years, to see the difference. You will not get super strong for wearing heavy costume for a day.

I don't agree with this for one simple reason, You body was never conditioned to be able to handle that weight, Yes "weighted clothes" is not a good way to train.. Same goes for unactive people doing fitness training for the first time in years, They would have exactly the same reaction this guy had in this video, maybe if he started with 5kg on his body with 1kg on each arm and leg, trained with that for weeks/months till his body was conditioned enough to handle higher weight.. He said it himself, He isn't the same hight or weight, He doesn't have the same muscle mass and more importantly doesnt have any experience with weight training. But then, not kidding, the perks like jumping higher stopped and instead, I got used to the weight. Then increased that every month by 45 minutes to the point of 5 hours q day at work I was wearing 2.5kg weights on each leg then also increased the wight to 5kg per leg. @@chrishickling5497 sounds like something that could very easily hurt you instead, I'm gunna listen to the large scale research which details negligible gains with high risk of problems. Human bones are only meant to support so much weight, it's why people who are obese are in pain just from standing or walking for extended periods of time. This should be clear to anyone who works out responsibly, but you should NEVER do a workout that is legitimately painful, soreness afterwards is to be expected but if you are in pain you're just harming your body and then you'll be out longer while you heal. Your anecdotal evidence of improved strength is both insufficient to determine actual effectiveness, and unproven as it's merely words on RU-vid.

HELL NO you build up to wearing that much weight . To actually prove if this works first of all he would have to take before and after photos and weight measurements along with doing physical tests something like the navys prt . Then after a few MONTHS of building up to the weight desired once he can COMFORTABLY wear it he takes the stuff off and then takes photos and weight measurements and does the prt again to see if there were improvements . Throwing something on one day and expecting immediate results is just STUPID thats why this video proves fuck all and is a waste of time for everyone

It was effectively only about 1.1g, which wasn't very hard to manage, but the rapid foot movements resulted in the weight harness around my ankles being ripped to shreds before I could make any determination about its effectiveness.

@@Dr_Snickerz as a person who carries about 40 lbs on his back and around 15 on each arm two miles because I got no car and gotta carry my groceries- no. Honestly it is easier and faster to get injured than any benefits. You're injuring ligaments and tendons around your shoulders, wrists, and elbows. Maybe if you're a body builder or something...? But no, way better to do calisthetics and drill like crazy to gain a increase in athletic performances. I keep fit, walk, do cardio, eat healthy and I always gotta take it easy. I once pulled my paraspinal lumbar doing my grocery run... wasn't fun, was in bed for 3 months straight.

@@tamil8108 you miss the point of the original comment above, and the Canon. Goku AND Krillin didn't start off wearing weighted boots, wristbands, belts, and shirts... they started with 50lb Shells (essentially running with a 50lb backpack on your back)... no mean feat, but they started with a reasonably tough challenge and built up strength, speed, and stamina. They then started over at 100lb shells. While we don't see every increment and stage, the tournament where Goku revealed he wears weighted clothing implies he built up over time, adding small amounts, little by little... remember muscle has its own weight, any weight you build onto your body is creating resistance of its own. There is no difference between starting him starting at 1.5Gs than a 90lb weakling starting with 55lb dumbells... he skipped the preliminary training. For reference Goku & Krillin trained 8 months at 50lbs before moving up to 100lbs. Goku took 3 years to go from 100lbs on his back to 250lbs divided between his wrists, ankles, and torso (We can actually divide this reasonably to 25lbs per wrist, 50lbs per boot, and 100lbs in the shirt, meaning Goku redistributed the weight on his torso and spent 3 years building up his arms and legs to do reasonable levels of work... again, 25lbs per wrist is little difference than a top level weight lifter curling 25lb dumbells, far less than the 50+ lbs dumbells sold by companies like Power Block, Barngym, Topeakmart, Weider, Bowflex, and many others). You don't teach an infant to swim by strapping 50lbs to each ankle and tossing them in the ocean over the Mariana Trench.

@@tamil8108 Tx said it. I also find a problem with the way Kyle had the weight secured. My pack doesn’t move once I have it on. The weight never shifts. I am not a body builder but I do extensive weight training and lots of running. I also do wear weights when I run. 12lbs on my ankles secured inside my boots and an additional 10lbs strapped to my thighs almost at the hip flexors. It honestly helps with explosive strength more than anything. I work with my hands too, I can hold 25lbs straight out for a minute (tried it today) before my deltoids start to burn. It’s actually not bad for training time under tension but Kyle is right that there are more effective ways to train though risk of injury doesn’t appear to be that much lower than weights all the time. The real issue you would run into is over training. Too much work in = less gains out. A better way to train all the muscle groups in shoulders and arms would be to carry the majority of the weight closer to his shoulder itself and work the weights down as he gets stronger. There probably isn’t enough weight there to hurt his back but for his size and lack of training, he is definitely going too hard too quick. The fact that he can do a pull up shows the amount of weight isn’t the issue, it’s how and where that weight is located.

The boots will be tricky because no one makes a 20KG boot. My goal is to move and function with all of it on. My body is currently utilizing and adapting to the 120lb vest. I also have loaded it to a maximum of 400lbs. With the hep of 4 other people. I was able to take a few steps without collapsing.

Its not like you are supposed to start at such a high weight anyway. the point is to work up to it, adding a little weight each week or two. Start with just an added 1 or 2 pounds to each ankle, thigh, wrist, elbow, belt, shoulder/chest strap. Thats less than 30 lbs. And yes all soldiers get stronger from carrying their packs around. the longer you carry it around, the less of a burden it becomes, to the point when you drop the gear you are not fatigued. you get to that point, add a couple more weights. repeat. yamcha is yamcha because he always goes in over his head, then gets PREDICTABLY wrecked. dont be predictable and over burden yourself for training, and you wont be a yamcha

Also just don't use Wrist weights. Like Kyle said in the previous video creating torque is bad for your joints and you should only do up and down motions. So weighted vest is fine (like firefighters train) and so are weighted anklets especially for going up and down stairs. (make sure not to do leg raises, any exercise with up and down motion is fine.) Like Radbug says too if you do use something for wrists it should be light, like half a pound. It doesn't have to be crazy heavy. When you remove the weights you'll feel so light weight and fast! Kyle should have maybe tested with lighter versions of the weighted clothing. Like Quarter pound wrist guards, half pound anklets and 5 pound vest. I bet he would have had some really good results.
