In my head, I was literally thinking "okay but sometimes the anxiety isn't that bad. It kinda comes and goes which isn't what's being described here. Uh oh." Thank you for transitioning to talking about the backdoor spike right as I was thinking that. I haven't gotten therapy or a diagnosis yet, and I don't expect myself to for at least a couple more years. For various reasons. Watching through these videos have been nice though... Kind of embarrassed to admit that the first one I watched made me cry lol. Which was 'Why Does OCD Feel So Real?' Sometimes I feel like just the fact that I'm kiiinda managing on my own without professional help means it isn't "bad" enough to be considered an anxiety disorder, and thus, that something is clearly wrong with me. I'm a little hesitant to self diagnose but it helps knowing I very likely have some form of OCD. I plan to get help when I can. But for now... It's nice hearing someone who knows what she's talking just offer some informative, comforting words and advice.

@@carolinaalvarado8482 yeah, with a good therapist it gets better :) I can watch movies and everything now. I feel.... Free again. Almost 4 years has passed by but, it was worth it. I mean, this is going to be with you forever. But with patience and forgiving yourself and taking good advice from a professional, working on your mental health at home... HODC... OCD will transform in something that sometimes stays with you, that is only by your side just like a fly. But is not you. And it doesn't define you :)

19:24, yep, yep, yep! “Everything says if I’m researching this, then I probably have OCD. So if I don’t give in to my compulsion and research, does that mean I don’t have OCD and I’m really just a terrible monster?” 😂😩

I feel what you feel my OCD changes topics , but the feeling are the same even when I go to confession to great prist who tell my that not a sin. I sometimes get out of confessions and I am happy, but later I think look maybe did not explain it too well , etc and you are face in dual reality yes or no and each of them you try to fide proof even if the ocd part is winning, the not ocd takes some stuff out of context and make it feel real.

For me it has now switched to “I don’t think this is ocd” to “okay I definitely know I have ocd but I think I still need to leave my relationship too because both can coexist and it has happened to others before.” then this feels so real to me I don’t actually know this time if it’s not real. so annoying and exhausting

I have that with my HOCD too. Like I definitely know that I do have HOCD because I think about it 24/7, but I don't know if I have it mixed with actual questioning. I started worrying yesterday about why I dont worry about "what if this isnt ocd?", because for me not worrying about ocd is not ocd, and that means im in denial. 😂😩

Thank you Chrissie, I have recently been diagnosed with POCD after struggling for years (decades?) and started therapy but I am plagued with the doubts you talk about. Although I know the doubts are part of the OCD I think that I have had it too long or its too complex... And you describe them so well which is really reassuring, which I know is an OCD trait but I am gradually getting convinced!

I’m scared to go to the therapy because I don’t want to give too much attention to my obsessive thoughts in fear it’ll cause me to obsess worse and on all of them all at once. And talking about the really awful ones altogether will be too much for my vivid imagination. I feel like I’d almost rather deal with it on my own, try to rationalize or push away each obsessive thought on its own as it comes one at a time....does this make sense? Lol I don’t know

I've always been able to live a normal life but personally , a lot of the things I've struggled with and obsessed over is my intense OCD. I hadn't realized there was so many different things that come from OCD. Your groinal response videos literally gave me so much peace

Can someone with OCD never use their logical thinking again, since it might get hijacked by OCD? Or can one never research anything again, since it might become reassurance?
@-_--bp6nf
@-_--bp6nf Месяц назад
That's the whole ocd talking right now. You absolutely can use logical thinking and research, so long as you are able to manage yourself well. It also doesn't happen 100% of the time, sometimes the OCD won't affect you, sometimes it will. You just need to learn how to react for your desired outcome

@@alvin55531 Omg didn't realise you posted this comment 3 years ago sorry 😭 but yeah I do that a lot too, especially when it comes to things surrounding the internet like I have an irrational fear of getting overly attached to internet personas and kept ruminating for months, thought I would never be able to turn on a show again because I'd immediately become emotionally attached to the actors lol

The only positive thing in saying "is just OCD" would be if every person knew what OCD was so if you want to tell your family or your partner, they will say " oh is just OCD" 😅😒😔

Speaking the truth at 4:30. For me that was the point that the fear of knowing went away. As some others have said “rock bottom is when your reality is degrading faster than you can lower your standards .” When I realized that truth I made my first appointment the same day.
