The footage I acquired was split into three separate videos, so I decided to edit all the videos into one video so you could enjoy the video without any interruptions. I do not own the footage or music in this video, I got the footage from TheThiefArchive RU-vid channel. All credit goes to the RU-vid channel and the BBC. This video is an episode of the BBC TV show from 1974 called The Do It Yourself Animation Show hosted by Bob Godfrey that features Richard Willams. In this Episode, Richard Willams discusses some animation techniques and explains the animation process.
Link to TheThiefArchive for all things related to the work of Richard Williams.

Watched the show, bought the book and ended up in charge of the animation department of a film company.

@@tylerbarnhoornproductions7506 It was called Medi-Cine Productions. It went out of business some years ago. Nothing to do with me, I might add. We made promotional films for drug companies and used animation to illustrate various biochemical and physiological processes which couldn't be shown any other way.

There's something so much more charming and engaging about these old and simpler productions than the super high end modern productions of today. I miss living in that world. We were all fools to give it up.

When watching this, I didn't realise Richard was using his unfinished animated film as an example.

I remember these shows on TV. I even got to meet the great Bob Godfrey after being in the audience of another animation show he appeared in.

@@tylerbarnhoornproductions7506 ooh no haha just a longtime fan and hobbyist animator. Read the book cover to cover many times and watched his later DVD lectures of the same material on repeat. Just a huge fan of Richard Williams and Don Bluth and that era and style of animation.

Man, pouring one out for the unfinished original vision of The Thief and the Cobbler. Really neat to see some sketches for it in this

Greg Duffel is from Toronto and owned an animation studio in the 80s called lightbox. They did commercials and music videos. Amazing he worked with Richard so young. Lightbox animated these amazing Zellers Batman commercials that were in a Neal Adams style, but with cool squash and stretch. Because it was so good- WB commissioned them do the proof of concept of the 90s Batman animated series -it was a perfect execution of the brief, Batman in the style of the Max Fleischer Superman. Greg was told by WB if they gave the series the greenlight, lightbox would make the series. That didn’t happen. (That still Happens lol) They did tons of beautiful work and a bunch of the 90s Disney renaissance animators got their start working for Greg .
