Because I did not understand the ability of this company to match the specifications of this item without requiring additional programming at the installer, I almost cancelled the order. However once I was able to provide the specific identity of the failed item, they provided a literal drop in replacement product with no loss of data. The ECU treats the replacement as if it is the original.
tried 2 times already and the display does not turn on after soldering the contacts. I bought another display from aliexpress to try again. I also checked the contacts with a multimemer in case I accidentally bridged two of the contacts, and I did so I cleaned them and will try again.
I have Audi A4 B5 1997. LCD displays (main and two small on the dials) are black after start-up. When I start, the displays light up for a second, but then go out. Can you advise me on this problem? Thank you for help
Thanks for this detailed tutorial! Can I use just a soldering iron to desolder the old FIS display? Or a hot air dryer is critical for doing this? Is it worth spending money buying one just for this task?
Thank you for the video! I am going to attempt this. Very little solder experience. How did you get an interface cable to power the instrument cluster? I tried finding online the name of the interface cable + how to power it; I couldn't find anything. Did you salvage a connector and wire up a power device? Thank you!
HI, i would recommend not to do it by yourself if you have got only little solder experience. The chance is very high to destroy your instrument completely. I have seen it very often.
