Do Lateral Raises Like THIS For More Shoulder Width 💪

Lateral Raises are a great exercise for Shoulder Exercise, but the Y Raise is an even better adjustment to place MORE tension on your Shoulders, whilst reducing it through your Upper Traps and Neck. A lot of people struggle with their mind muscle connection to their shoulders, with the traps and neck dominating instead - and this is a great fix for it.

One of the best things I ever did for my shoulders is STOP trying to isolate my lateral delts from my upper traps. These muscles work together. It was bothering my shoulders trying to keep my traps down while doing lateral raises. Now I just let my traps and delts work together naturally, and both my traps and delts are improving.

I tried the Y raise with 10 pounds standing up. Just trying to warm up. I did feel it directly in the side delts. So I'm going to try it your way on a bench, leaning and see what happens. Thanks 👍

Hi eugene, I am fairly new to weight lifting, I did bodyweight training before, and this exercise I could never perform properly. I could never engage the side delt and I new I was hitting the traps. I tried this teqnique and I could finally feel the side delts getting stimulated. Great video!

I tried this today even though I have never felt my back work during lateral raises doing it the normal way. I didn’t realize I had the incline much lower then you do here. So I felt it in my back for the first time ironically and more in my rear delts(not normal for me) next week I’ll try this again with the higher back angle.

As someone who struggles from migraines, I imagine making changes to my lateral raises to the Y-Raise could potentially help?
@coacheugeneteo
@coacheugeneteo 2 года назад
Absolutely!!
@BigHalfSteps
@BigHalfSteps 2 года назад
If you know that your migraines come from overworking neck/trap muscles, yes. However, migraines can be caused by different things or even in combination. Doing Y-Raise are putting you also in a better mechanical position to train your shoulders, so either way it's a win. Hopefully it's helping for your migraines.
