As far as I know the nec tokins don’t usually die but it can happen reflowing the cpu and gpu will usually fix the problem the rsx could also be dead causing ylod
I believe whatever the problems are that caused the YLOD, Sony should have recalled these systems. If these people say, oh, you didn’t take preventative measures then why did the PS2s, PS4s and PS5s didn’t have a widespread xLOD issue?
I agree and also as a consumer you should not have to take preventative measures especially on electronics. The wear and tear is not the same as a mechanical device (like a car). You can make reliable machines if the right materials are used as proved by the PS2. The PS5 however seems to have issues of its own but enough time hasn't passed yet for us to make a judgement. Thanks for your comment and subscribe :)
Any argument comparing different generations of consoles is invalid. The PS3 was a super computer of the time shit even NASA had an entire room full of them all linked together it's a lot more advanced than the ps2. And compared to the ps4 they already knew what preventative measures to take by the ps3 slim so when the ps4 came out they knew what to avoid BUT that doesn't mean the ps4 didn't have problems. I've seen ps4s with the same overheating issues but the biggest problem I see when I get broken ps4s (it's pretty nasty) is cockroaches in the consoles. They had a pretty bad design flaw with the psu and it gets very hot and is nice and dark with just enough room for roaches to crawl in and boy do they love to. Anytime I come across a broken ps4 I usually just assume it's because of roaches and I won't even bring the console inside lol I tear it apart out back and clean it up before bringing it in and attempting repairs so I don't end up with the little guys too haha. And now we're starting to see problems with the ps5 as well. One of the biggest issues is overheating too but because of the liquid metal they used. It spreads and leaves dry spots that don't make contact with the heat sink but it's a pretty easy fix and the ps5 has a pretty good kill switch inside to keep it from dying completely. There ARE preventative measures you can take to help prolong any console really but the first set of consoles released for any console will have some problems. Ps1 was the stupid plastic track for the laser which made you have to flip the ps1 upside down to read discs lol that's the dumbest I've seen but for generations to come the first release will ALWAYS have problems until they start getting complaints and returns to learn from. It's just a given regardless if you try to prevent it or not.
A friend of mine used to work at AVX here in El Salvador, they made those caps, I remembered he once told me that they had an awful week because Sony people were auditing everything in the making process, they wanted to know more about possible defects, but as far as he knew, they dind't found anything bad and since it was years ago I had no idea of the issue until the last couple of years, but that's something that stuck to my mind the, idea of Japanese people using parts made in my country! specially since everyone wanted a PS3 at the time but it was too expensive!!
I don't doubt that a reball or reflow of the main chips will very often resolve these issues, but for you to state that 'the capacitors in 99% of the cases are not responsible' is not realistic. Please can you put together a follow up video where you test incoming devices with a syscon diagnostic tool which is proven to show (I think by RIP Felix, though I may be wrong?) which component is the real cause of the YLOD ?? Also, of the devices you have reballed, how long did they continue to work, on average??
As for my PS3 (CECHG06) YLOD issue back then was The RSX. Because soon after got the YLOD and did the oven method, the PS3 back to life, but this time artifacts was shown on the screen (Which is an obvious GPU issue).
My L04 ps3 tries to boot up the more I try to turn on, but it ends up shutting down with the 3 beeps and blinking red light, and I thought that was the problem and not the GPU, the issue mine has is really odd... sometimes it works but it doesn't want to work at the same time
@@fasttechvideo when you read the syscon on the ps3 does it not give codes to tell you that the cell or rx must be replaced or capacitors need to be replaced.
