i am japanese and when I visited delhi, I saw some students of indian schools that looked really familiar to the people of my country. I was really surprised. India is really a diverse country.

Northeast Indians are the most civilized, mannered, clean, cheerful, and patriotic people you will find in this country. Even after facing decades of ignorance from Central Government, they have stood upon. It's high time now that the government launch some public project to supporting the residents of its state.

When I went to mainland India. I told them that I'm a Kungfu Master. Its easy to become a hero.

It's not their mistake it was our govt there's nothing single chapter about Northeast India in our history Naga people played the major role to stop Japnese forces but nobody knows it all they teach us is how mughal ruled us for so many years🙄

As a Bihari who spent his childhood in Sikkim, i love all my north east "INDIAN" brothers and sisters. I apologize deeply and regretfully for the ignorance and stupidity of the so called "Main landers" who dont know the history of the lands and the many sacrifices of the Assamese, Mizo, Etc.

Not indian, I'm Filipino but this really opened my eyes! When the people being interviewed say they faced discrimination from the people who live in the same country as them shows that racism happens everywhere, not just whites vs POC. in the Philippines, people with lighter skin and European features are treated better than those who have darker skin (morena) features. I also learned through this video that India is a very diverse country!! lol living in Canada Ive met lots of Indians (i lived in a highly populated Indian community from gr 5-9) but 90% ive talked to are from the south or mainland as the people in this video have mentioned. Ive always had this assumption that everyone in India looks the same and speaks the same language. Glad i learned something today! Thanks Asian Boss

We south indians also look different from other Indians despite being in mainland India (first time hearing the term mainland India)...and we love north east India... But the problem is we have less chance of interaction because we are geographically disconnected and very far away......Both the regions are very green and peaceful with clean air .... I can understand when people say they got discriminated i have had similar experience when couple of North Indians came to my place and discriminated our people..... I never saw north easterns as non Indians. Yeah some uneducated Mainlanders often do this because of lack of education but its very common for us in colleges to have North East INDIAN friends. We the Rongmei people of North East India are genetically closer to Tibetans and Chinese. It is believed that Rongmei tribes migrated from Yunnan, China between 200 BC to 700 AD. When emperor Shi Huangdi captured Dian kingdom in 107 BC, many Dian ethnic groups mass migrated to South East Asia like Thailand, Vietnam, and Burma. Dian tribes practice jhum cultivation and bury their dead in vertical position. The last migration took place in 700 AD when Miao ethnic groups where displaced by Tang dynasty. Miao descendants were part of the earlier Dian tribes of 200 BC. The Hmong groups were the biggest ethnic groups of Miao tribes which is now scattered in Laos, Vietnam, Thailand and Burma. So based on the genetic study of Rongmei tribes and it's close relationships with the Chinese and koreans, it may conclude that Rongmei tribes migrated from Yunnan province to escape the tyranny of emperor Shi Huandi, the first emperor of China and Qin dynasty who build the great wall of China somewhere 300 BC to 100 BC. It is likely that Rongmei tribes were once part of the Dian ethnic tribes or Yelang groups who settled down in Yunnan between 200BC to 100 BC. After the fall of Dian kingdom in 107 BC, many Dian ethnic tribes further migrated to South, South East and South western Asia. The present day Tai Ahom of upper Assam, Tai people of upper Burma, the bodos of Assam, the Nagas, kukis, meiteis etc were once part of the same ethnic tribes of Yunnan. They all speak tibeto Burmese language, practice slash and burn cultivation and were head hunters. The Han Chinese called them barbarians of Yunnan. Many folklores of meiteis, kukis, nagas, Zomis, bodos, bru etc are quite similar and will trace their origins from a cave. Almost all their Languages are quite similar denoting their coexistence since time immemorial. Some of the Ladakhis, Tibetans and upper Burmese language have some similarity with the North Eastern tribes of India. It was the Britishers who United North East with the mainland Indians. Now North East tribes have special status and protections under the Indian government. Recent developments in infrastructure in North East India are helping the tribals to come closer to mainland India. Though we may look different or have different history, but now we are all Indians and have contributed a lot for the Indian growth.

My mom is from Assam, after marrying my father, my parents came to Hooghly. My mom always tells me how beautiful and breathtaking Assam is, and i know that Assam is a really developed and beautiful state. Ido wish to travel there, even if once. I'm from Burma and I think Mizos and Chin people have a lot of similarities culturally and ethnically. As a chin, I have seen many other chin people wearing your cultural pattern and I myself have a few patterns from your culture. Where I'm from, you'll be surprised at how many people know the Mizo language including my whole family and we aren't Mizo.

Their physical look looks more like the south east asians than the Chinese or Korean or Japanese to me.

Tbh im from northeast and am currently studying in the south and yeah its pretty tough when we go out because every person we see on the road stares at us and some will add weird comments and call us chinese and yeah it does really hurt, they'll also add more prices because of our face and really in my own country i have to face these

Many northeast people say that they are victims of racism when they go to North India or Central India...but being from Bihar I have lived in the Northeast (specifically in Nagaland, Manipur & Mizoram) as my father worked in CRPF as a SO and thanks to my dark skinned complexion I have always been treated with nicknames like kalia, kauwa, koyla, kallu, chocolate, bihari etc. because most of my classmates were from northeast and were pretty fair in color... many a times people would just come to me and talk in a accent of someone eating pan etc. And for all my childhood which is spent in northeast i.e. from class 1 to 12, I have been nicknamed in my school based on the color of my skin at one point it became so much that the only time my name (Sanidhya) was rightly pronounced was during examination attendance...I'm just mentioning this based on personal incidents which happen with me....currently I'm 2nd year student so these experiences are not some decades old things.. My motive is not to spread hate nor do I'm promoting that one should be racist against Northeast Indians by calling them Japanese or Chinese they are as Indian as any other citizen of the nation...but all I'm mentioning is, this goes both ways...and if it is to stop it has to stop both ways...if calling someone chinki is wrong, which it is...then calling someone koyla, kalua etc. is also wrong.

I'm Mizo myself and I want to say this : racism is from both sides! I've seen Non-Mizos being discriminated here too by some! But of course not to that level as North Eastern are being discriminated. Let's not wait for who stops it first! Let's start from oneself.. Just for the sake of humanity.

We really look chines, Japanese, Korean or from thiland but we are 💯 % Indians 🇮🇳

We need to educate ourselves and others about the rich cultural heritage of the North East, its people, and its contributions to our nation's progress. I was shocked to even witness IAS aspirants asking me where Mizoram is. They already failed in Geography.

I always found Northeastern clean, polite, and friendly. Many NEs studied with me in Delhi and We lived as brothers in our Hostel. I remember those days when we all cwlebrated Holi ,Christmas, and Eid togather. Beauty of our incredible country 🇮🇳

As a Bengali from Bangladesh I visited Mizoram in last June. It was a place of beautiful nature & very friendly people. I stayed in Hotel Regency in Jharkat. Their food & service was very good. I like to visit their villages again next time.

I am a Sikh Punjabi who's great grandfather moved from Punjab to West Bengal in search of work in 1896. Our family was there till 2000. I grew up 2 hours from Nepal, 3 hours from Bhutan and visited the North Eastern states many times. Now I live in the US. Will go back to visit sometime.

I'm from Odisha and now staying in Maharashtra. Saw this video after watching Anek movie. Couldn't believe that so much is happening in North-east and we are like completely ignorant of it. The movie sends a message loud and clear.. "Kab ek insaan khud ko sirf Indian keh payega Sir!!" Since childhood, I have always hated to be identified with some part of India.. like East Indian, North Indian, South Indian etc. Now I'm proud that I kept such thoughts since childhood. I feel so much pride being called only as an Indian. 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳 And I love every inch of my country and its diversity in languages, culture, and people. Let's let our governments know that development means development of the entire country, not developing some parts and ignoring the rest. We all always should stand together under the Tricolour as proud Indians.

I visited Aiazawl once and i was surprised that people were so friendly and ready to help. Considering how they are being treated in mainland India(by some stupid people), they were more polite and oh I loved the greenery and hygiene there. It's almost like a part of India that hasn't been touched to get exploited by buildings and industries much and so the natural resources are clean there.I love Northeast India❤

Will it be possible to do it? Also, as we hear in news, they talk about certain specific issues in China(at least what I see or hear) but not about entire China as a whole. for ex. about uyghur Muslims. So, will it be possible to cover these topics? I am not quite sure but do you cover people from only big cities like Biejing, Shanghai etc. or do you also cover ppl from different regions? If not, would it be possible to consider that as well? You can really observe the similarities of Southeast Asians to the language, religion (Theravada Buddhism), and culture that people from Northeast India and Yunnan have. On top of that, indigenous peoples in mainland Southeast Asia, particularly in Myanmar, Vietnam, and Laos, have been crossing borders as they typically live in nomadic lifestyles. But, yeah, considering geographical, historical, and political contexts, it is without doubt they are Indians. It doesn't have to be that you must possess the common physical and anatomical traits of Indians to be considered as such. Even the basic principle of citizenship states that once you are born in this country, you are therefore a new citizen of that country, in which this case is India.

As for me I always wanted to visit NE states...it's true that in childhood we didn't know much about NE side.. but as we grown up and try to know more about india it seems proud to have NE as a part of india... one thing that make me have intrest in NE is our armed forces... I literally like assam and naga regiment... and being a defence aspirant also as a civilian not having an army background I always wanted to join these two regiment...if I got chance to choose any regiment in indian army they will be my preference.....
