The Drag Pak Challenger run a small displacement Gen3 Hemi, I think it's a like a 5.8L small block Hemi with a Supercharger, and they're running in the 7's in the quarter... so the 5.7 does have potential & as far as reliability is concerned, it's all in the engine builder who puts it together and assemble it & the parts that used... I was smoking 2 Chargers yesterday on the interstate and both of them were 392's and I left them 3 times in my R/T.... I feel the 5.7 is definitely underrated and looked down upon

I will always mod, it's a fun process for some of us. Wrenching on my cars helps me understand how they operate and able to fix most of my own issues. I can give you the best reason you buy a 5.7--you are going to get a spare tire! I had to buy an aftermarket spare for my Charger Scat and it eats up a lot of the trunk. At the end of the day, nothing sounds like a V-8--whatever size. Back in the days of muscle, MOPAR's best selling big block, the 440 with a 4-barrel carb was only making about 370hp. The 5.7 makes the same with a more fuel efficient engine with fuel injection.

So, these cars come with burnout modes, zero to 60 times, etc. However, I wouldn't say you can run the shit out of these cars because when shit breaks, dealers will flash the car to see how you drive the car and look for reasons to repair the car outside the warranty. But wait.your.gonna say won't take.boost. yeah neither will the 5.7 unless you get better pistons. Why because both the 6.4 and 5.7 right now come with hyperutectic trash ass pistons that the second they get any type of boost they shatter like glass. Also for boosted applications I recommend going from H-beam to I-beam. If you dont know what I'm talking about just stop while your ahead but don't get me wrong the 5.7 is a good motor just it's capability doesn't even come close to what the 6.4l Apache BGE block is capable of.

The 5.7 from the factory comes with a very restrictive header that is killing power but remember they didn't put a better flowing header on it the way they did the 6.4 and also another thing for the fuel economy the 5.7 R/T Differential gearing is set up for lower rpm fuel economy and a open differential for better drivability and control. I have changed out both my differential and headers and I am very very happy the way the car pulls and sounds and it looks good af. I am amazed when people talk crap about the 5.7 they fell to mention or don't do their research on why this was done. I have no problems running with scats while getting better gas mileage, easier to maintain, cheaper to insure and hell the 85% percent of the public don't even know the difference

Thank you. I don't get it. I had an RT for about a month but it didn't seem much faster than my Charger GT daily. Sold it for a SPWB Challenger and there's no comparison. Also WB from the factory has adaptive suspension, stiffer front springs and larger front/rear sway bars. Save for a 6.4 WB.

Not really a modded rt will blow the damn doors off a scar pack. Both are fun cars but they are boats that weigh 4400 lbs and power to weight and many other things matter. I love the dodges but when this reviewer constantly tries to talk shit on every other car like the 392 is some blessed by gods car it’s really not and they are super common. Especially when a mustang gt or Camaro ss are faster and handle better than a 392. I am a car enthusiast and have love for all cars as each vehicle is meant for something and to talk shit about everyone else isn’t cool. My ats v with a v6 TT will some the doors and has plenty of times a 392 as with my m3.

1st. All the hate to everything that isn’t a 392 or hellcat is kinda interesting. Your 392 is slower than the Camaro ss and mustang 5.0. The 485 hp at 4400 lbs is not very Efficient. A Camaro ss with or without the 1LE package is faster and so is the mustang gt with or without the performance package. Power to weight, tires, gearing , all go into play when racing. My ATS V will surely smoke that ass without question . 2. Albeit the 5.7 might not have as much power as the 6.4 but the 5.7 has been tried and true for ages and is extremely tunable with a vast realm for after market parts. You can get a wide body RT which that wide body is quite laughable after seeing how it’s installed via adding body panels and not factory part of the real chassis like a z06 or grand sport corvette per se. 3. It seems like this is your first v8 coming from your v6 and it feels like a dream to you which it should. But if you go back and look at how you present yourself you seem narcissistic in that you have the best car around. You talk shit on every single car that’s not yours even though your beloved dodge slowly fades away as they gave up and caved into all electric. 4. A real car enthusiast will have respect and appreciate all cars for what they are built for and what they do. Maybe because I am a little older than you and have been building all cars from Evo to corvette and Cadillac V series cars and owning a charger myself. A car is what the owner makes of it and if they are happy with it. 5. I appreciate your passion and love for dodge which I have as well and for all car companies but take a step back and go to some cars and coffee and see what’s out there, go to an actual track and see what you can do against others stock and modded, learn to drive with some lessons from a professional and auto cross , I know I did and it helped and gave me a nice serving of humble pie. All I’m saying is don’t put false information out there and talk bad about other companies or people, especially enthusiasts. And you can bet you pants that the 2024 mustang gt and dark horse are coming and ford didn’t give up. Keep the petrol and manual transmission alive. Good luck and congrats and being back on the road.

I think your 100% right on a financial and peace of mind stand point, but the build process, the learning experience , wins ,losses ,engine failures, worries, and progression are very important , not everyone should just hop in the driver seat of 500+ hp muscle car with no prior experience or progression, and we see all to often what happens when they do. but their is also some to be said about knowing your car will always start get you where you want safely and not blow up and leave you with a payment and no warranty.

There are several reasons to get an R/T over a scat pack. 1) It’s cheaper than a 6.4, 2) Better gas mileage than a 6.4, 3) Takes better to modifications than a 6.4 (because the 6.4 is pretty optimized from the factory, 4) Not targeted for theft as much as the 6.4. I have a 5.7 and I personally would never trade it in for a 392. I would go straight to a hellcat. The 5.7 sounds better than the 6.4 to me.

The ONLY reason I got is this, I'm a car guy, I bought a RT (23 last call edition) with the specific intention of building it myself. Granted, mine is a super track pack so I got 385hp stock but the 5.7 responds better to modification and there are a lot more power play options. Of course I wouldn't recommend the average person to build one up but I like to have my own hands in my cars.

First I say, get what your budget can handle!! I can’t emphasize that enough because I had to learn the hard way trust me you don’t want that. Second I say take all these videos about RT’s vs scat pack’s vs Hellcats’s with a grain of salt, because your decision on which car you pick all depends on what you want out of it. I am personally not someone who would be satisfied with stock power from any of the trim levels offered. I knew going into buying my RT that I was going to modify it and eventually void my factory warranty (which if you think about it the warranty will run out on every single one of these cars at one point unless you extend it) so with that being said if your fine with stock power get what you can afford which most people are content with stock, but if you aren’t just know your going your eventually void the warranty on any of these trim levels. Going fast doesn’t come without sacrifice. If you are into RT’s or just good mopar content period checkout my channel im currently building my 5.7 on there!!

I'm not a true car guy but I do like cars and I know what I want. The Dodge Charger RT fits the bill. And since the most powerful car I've owned to is the 210 hp 2009 Ford Mustang coup (It was fun, nonetheless.) The only V8 I've ever owned was an used up 1995 Mercury's Cougar XR7 clunker (Should've drove it straight to a mechanic or the junkyard!). And I'm currently driving a 168hp 2018 Chevrolet Malibu LT (It's kind of fun from time to time but it's nothing special.) So the Charger RT is definitely the car I want.
