The Ryzen 9 7950X3D supposedly is the best CPU from the AM5 lineup to date, however the 7950X or the 7800X3D might actually be a better buying choice, depending on your needs!

I got the CPU around 2 weeks ago and my experience has been completely contradictory to the claims made in this video. I'm not even using Process Lasso. No shade to the people who do, I understand it's fairly popular to use with this CPU. But before I messed with any of that I wanted to test this the way AMD intended for it to be used. So I didn't change them other board setting to have it favor the frequency cores, the only thing I did was install the AMD motherboard drivers and make sure that my game bar was up to date. It also turns out that you have to use the balanced power setting. Of all of the games I tested on it, one failed to correctly run on the cache cores. That may have been a glitch because I haven't seen that happen again. So in my experience everything said in this video is wrong. And I don't know what to make of that. It sounds like when this chip was first released there were some problems with the drivers that potentially cause problems. But this video was not made at the time of release of this chip. It was made one month ago. Reading various forums about this chip, it does seem that some people have had problems getting it to run properly. I don't really know what's going on there, I wonder if they might not be choosing the correct power plan. Or maybe it's possible that the AMD drivers aren't always installing correctly. But my system was far from an ideal, this wasn't even a fresh install, I put an old installed Windows that had previously been running an AM4 system into this system. If you want to say that some people are having problems, fine. But to say that the chip simply doesn't work right and that games absolutely do not allocate correctly to the proper course, that's simply false. I went into this expecting that it may take more work to run it effectively, but so far it has been largely trouble-free.

Freaking love my 7950x3d all i did was enable expo put -15 all core in curve optimzer and it crushed every Benchmark I threw at it until Prime 95 I got 7 hours in and then worker 8 failed, so I went in and dropped core 8 to -10 in curve optimzer then ran them all again and did several 16 hour runs on prime 95 and it passed every single time no errors. Not to mention they seem to have fixed all the scheduling problems but I'm a micromanager anyway and already had a subscription of process lasso from before i switched from intel (because my 13900k had to be rmad and intel lost my trust) I use it just because i like the control. If you think there are people who find process lasso a difficult app to use then they would probably only be able to use the PC for basic browsing and office tasks. These people would be content with a Ryzen 3 zen2 system that costs like $300 altogether or something similar. Why would they ever consider a 7950x or 7800x3d

Oh wow, that's a strange coincidence LOL. I've never seen your channel before but I was just right now watching a tutorial made by you and right now you drop a video about the exact processor I'm thinking about getting. That's scary actually LOL. Anyways, I never overclocked ANYTHING, but I've seen people talking about how much easier it is nowadays with that PBO thing and whatever so I was thinking about getting the Ryzen 9 7950x3D and giving it a go with undervoltage -20 and stuff. Everyone else I saw before mentioned that it is a tiny bit worse than the 7950X in productivity, but they mentioned it is so little that it would not be noticiable, and when compared to the advantage of having the 3D cache (giving it works) that is still a great choice for someone like me who want's something that I can do both video editing and gaming with. Now you have me worried and I don't know anymore HAHAHAH
@ImWateringPSUs
@ImWateringPSUs 2 месяца назад
I really like the kind of coincidence where the algorithm actually likes me😂 It is very easy indeed to OC/UV modern chips. But going back to your doubts, I’d honestly say that unless you’re playing at 1080p and NEED to max out a RTX 4080 Super or higher at over 300fps, you’ll be fine with the 7950X non-X3D. On the other hand, if your priority is gaming get the 7800X3D. I really do not recommend the 7950X3D unless one absolutely has to have both the numbers of cores and the 3D V-cache. And even to them I say that they have to be prepared for the issues to come!

Yes, dual CCD x3d is not great. Only buy a 16 core x3d when 16 cores are on a single ccd - a 32 core x3d with single ccd x3d would have the same interconnect issues
@ImWateringPSUs
@ImWateringPSUs 2 месяца назад
Very well summed up!
@NomadSoul76
@NomadSoul76 11 дней назад
What games need 16 cores? I'm serious, I have plenty of headroom with the eight that the CPU offers now. My experience is also very different from the claims made in this video, I haven't had to do anything to get games to run properly on the cache cores. Instead I have a second set of eight course which run faster because they don't have the whole x3d structure. I don't need to use those on games, but if I'm doing video editing or compression or anything else which can be more heavily multi-threaded, those extra cores give me a lot more performance. Don't get me wrong, if someone comes out with a monolithic 16 core CPU where all of the cores have access to the extra cache and it cost the same as these cpus, go ahead and get it. But they're doing this for a reason, it's cheaper. That dream CPU would be significantly more expensive, and yet it wouldn't offer you a significant increase in gaming performance which is the whole point.

I bought the 7950x3d day 1 when it was released. It was really a shitshow when it first released, it was not working correctly and even considered changing to a 7800x3d. I discovered Process Lasso and it helped a lot. Months passed by and I thought I should try reinstalling it again, and see if AMD has fixed the scheduling. It was a struggle but I finally installed it the way it should work. I tried in all my games using my 7950x3d and a simulated 7800x3d (7950x3d with ccd 1 disabled) and they perform the same and I assume it will perform better than a real 7800x3d due to higher clocks. He is also correct, I would not recommend the 7950x3d to a plug and play user and even to a person with good knowledge on setting up PCs. This chip needs to be correctly settled up and finely tuned to make it work like it should. I can say Im pretty knowledgeable on setting up PCs but I spent around 2-3 days testing and reinstalling, searching for Reddit topics, techchannels and google searches and also doing different bios settings and driver setups, but the tech power up guide was the one that helped me a lot.

mate you've completely overlooked process lasso, an application where you can make a profile for each game that disables 8 of the cores so it performs no differently to the 7800x3d. this is perfect for people that encode a lot while wanting the best for gaming. it's also easy to determine if a client has no clue or a little clue that's its not hard to explain process lasso. you may as well take down your video you're embarrassing yourself.

I have tried Lasso. It works. Still, you have to do it manually, it’s pretty buggy and if you’re dealing with VR/virtualization it doesn’t work as well

OR set the power plan to high performance and park the cores from windows? rather that having yet another core parking app. the xbox xbar/game mode kludge us ridic, and anyone with an older xbox controller guess what. you either need to update to firmware in the controller itself from ms store. otherwise memory crashes.
