Yesterday I walked through Lowe's. They didn't have a clearance plant rack. I saw they had just watered so I looked down...to find a bunch of succulent leaves and a couple branches! All sitting in soil the the back yard. Free plants are the best plants.
Yes, those spores get everywhere!! They even get on your clothes if you get near plants with it. So if you’re ever around it change clothes before you go near your plants!
Many succulents have a natural powdery coating that is created by the plant and is a natural sunblock for the plant… I’m not sure what you’re seeing is actually powdery mildew…
Yes, there is a natural powdery coating on most succulents which is normal and it is called “farina”. Powdery mildew is a fungal infection as shown in the video and looks quite different. I actually made a video showing the difference between the two as well as mealybugs. Once you see them a bunch, it’s very easy to tell the difference, but if you haven’t experienced all of them, sometimes there is some confusion between the three. Check out this video to see the difference ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0YSr3V6Go8A.htmlsi=cPvuTHD2OG3P9T2F
Aloe mites spread like wildfire. Your best bet is to triple bag that plant, and throw it out with the garbage. I read an article about a man who had a very large aloe collection outdoors in his backyard. His neighbor did as well, but had a serious case of aloe mites spreading throughout his collection. The gentleman who wrote the article, ended up getting the mites from his neighbors collection. He decided to do some investigating, and had concluded that the aloe mites must have spread throughout the wind. It is extremely rare that an infected plant can overcome an infestation of aloe mites. They are extremely resistant to most of the chemicals on the market.
@@bhumphries1360 thank God I have not had to deal with those yet. I hope I never do. I don’t have a huge collection of aloe, but I will keep that in mind. Powdery mildew can often be the same way if you don’t catch it soon enough. The first time I had it I seriously thought about just burning everything in a fire! 😬
It’s a fungus succulents can get and it’ll eventually kill the plant. You can Google what it looks like but I showed a picture of it in my latest video which talks about how to treat it and mealybugs
If you will watch my latest video about treating it and mealybugs I’ll show a pic of it, but typically you’ll see white spots or powdery spots all over the plant
