I'm of the opinion that feeding the trolls increases the number of comments and so the video does better with the youtube algorithm. I'm not saying to keep uncivil comments or to let trolls anger somebody to death, just to let it be as long as it's within decent bounds.

I don't mind a long cutscene, if it's relevant to the plot, is well paced, well directed, involves some amount of player input, and doesn't plug an e-book at the end of it... It's all about respecting the time of the player.

There are different colors of ectoplasms according to "Ghostbusters: The Videogame". Phsychomagnatheric ectoplasmic residue and the ectoplasm itself can apparently have different colors for different reasons. It's implied that this may be the case to visually represent different emotions as it belongs to a very specific subgroup or outright form of ectoplasm that responds directly to human emotions and all that other motherfucking pseudoscience bullshit. A very cool concept.

I know exactly why the pause menu thing is so wonky! So when setting up a super basic pause menu, most people will go to the incredibly basic setup of just setting thr timescale to 0. This does in fact freeze the game, making for a quick pause. But it has some pretty major problems which you ran in to, all interactions are also paused. The reason this works the way it does is because in Unity when you set the code to set something as active or inactive, it will actually do that on the next frame of the game. But if the timescale is set to 0, then that next frame will never come. Thought it might be fun information to have!

Yeah pausing is actually one of the trickier bits in game programming (or at least it's tricker than you'd think) since you have to tell the game to stop this process but not that one because the player still needs to be able to input this, etc. You have to actually think about what "paused" means for every element and put that in.

The way I used to handle this (been a while, might not be 100% accurate) was to use the real time in Unity, which is a separate value not affected by the timescale as well as a paused bool for a few other things. You would also have to do this in case you wanna have any slow motion effects since it involves adjusting the timescale as well.

@@Xvladin its very jokey yes but it has the intent of at least getting people to buy the book, someone no matter how ironic or satirical they try to be with, say a raid sponsorship, is still sponsored by raid and is still trying to at least be a good business partner in getting people to play the game or say ascribe to a set of beliefs that happen to line up with an ebook that is shilled at the end of the game in an 18 minute cutscene

Honestly I wish this was just satire, I mean it doesn't look fun but I kinda dig the goofy look. Summoning the devil by singing a John Lenon song is fucking hilarious. The sitcom feel and the absurd story really scream satire but the final cutscene makes it pretty clear its not... pretty much Joker saying "there is no punchline". The creator being serious and plugging an audio book makes me lose faith in society... Anyway keep up the work! Wonder what else you'll find in this series.

My first thought seeing this review was, "This game has to be a joke, right?" Less then a minute later, it began to dawn on me, "Yes. It IS supposed to be a joke. A particular kind of joke." This game is an intellectual Trojan Horse. It starts out as relatively harmless, in a way that will quickly drive away the kind of person who wouldn't give its ideology the time of day, and then begins to innundate the player with increasing use of awful stereotypes in a "Schroedinger's Racist" sort of way (IT'S JUST A JOKE! ... unless you agree...). And then piles awful racist charicatures increasingly higher, all while training the player to just accept these fringe beliefs as "part of the game (unless...)." This game is bad. It's not stupid, nor harmless. It's calculated and evil. Thank you for calling it out.

With how surprisingly long this game is, if someone told me that the devs made it so you can't refund this game on Steam, I wouldn't question them.

I honestly think this game is just a giant ass shitpost. From the anime opening to the achievements to the fucking sitcom moments. I could always be wrong, there been enough cases of people successfully hiding propaganda behind humor and shitposts...but this feel instinctively like just a huge joke to me.

Well seeing the game's stats on Steamcharts and other sites, it's sold less than 100 copies, and no one has actually played those copies outside of 3 people. I've never sure how accurate those Steam stats sites are though. Edit: Checking about a month later it seems to have had about 800-900 more sales since this video interesting enough. If you tell someone not to do something, at least some of them will just to spite you I guess, lol. It's now even got positive reviews on Steam. Joke reviews, 13 year old "look how edgy I am" reviews, and even one with literal Nazi terms in it. "Very good ! played only 14 hours but i will for 88 more in my free time for sure." That could totally be one of those edgy boys reviews though.

Thanks for the love! I agree, the game started out as "lolwtfbbq random" style cringe humour - but beneath the surface it's certainly more insidious. As for subs - what I do is pretty niche! Most people want to hear about fun games to try, not garbage games! But hey, here we are 🙃

Yeah, probably. I'd still be pointing out anything that is an extremist view that is being pushed on a player under the guise of an "educational/teaching moment". That type of content has no place in a game like this. But also the game is just inherently broken and flawed, and a complete chore to play, so it doesn't matter what views it tries to present, it's still a terrible game.

for the entire video I was CONFIDENT that this game was just an edgy joke, that last part really made me think differently. if the dev advertised the book of someone famous for being a wacko far right like Alex Jones than it would have definitely been a joke, but the book they chose to push out is just so niche that there is NO WAY it can constitute as some edgy joke.
