It's not broken. It's called drag coefficient and downforce. The spoiler is the culprit here. Adding traction at speeds by increasing drag, and if you know the slightest thing about how airflow works, to create more drag (downforce) you need more resistance, and more resistance means less smooth airflow which means a lower top speed. a perfect example is when airplanes are slowing down after landing, the more resistance they create by raising and angling their rudders the slower they go, since they don't have actual "brakes" they use the theory of aerodynamic resistance to slow them down.

Many don't buy the car for speed. Some people love the F1. I bought the car of the nostalgia, not for racing. I leave that to the P1.

It's called being a track car. In real motorsport, cars with wings, rear diffusers, front splitters & such have this thing called DOWNFORCE. It means that although some straight line speed is sacrificed, it gets made up in the cars ability to stick to the track in corners. Try this test on a very technical road circuit, and the upgraded car should come out victorious.

Are you serious ? -.-' Stock Exterior = Better aero = better in drag races... (and that for all cars, since the release of gta ) The Mclaren F1 was one of the fastest car in the word before the Veyron...

Even though R* missed key points that made the Mclaren different from all the rest i.e. The driver seat in the center of the car, the 5 rear view mirrors (2 on exterior, 2 on the sunguards, and 1 in the middle of the interior), the messed up back bumper, the no-gold engine bay, and no side panels that open and close, none of that matters. In GTA land, this is a Mclaren F1 LM. And its beautiful.

It's the weight, I can't believe people still don't realize cosmetics change performance of all cars. It's only more noticeable here because this car has so many options.

Ok, all those aero parts slow it down because of drag (not weight). By adding diffusers and wings and whatnot, you spec it for cornering through adding downforce. Take cars around a track, not just drag races to find out how fast they are. 9 times out of 10, cornering ability trumps straight line speed in a race.

with the stock parts the car is smooth so faster in a straight line the splitter/defuser bumper upgrades will give it down force making the car faster around a track

Remember the Banshee 900R back when it was slower than the normal banshee? this one's a bit similar. Hopefully Rockstar will fix this soon

the reason why u won the drag race without those customizations is because they all help with downforce which means u r better through the corners. on the straight in u won because u had less drag.

it's called drag. the car is essentially perfect aerodynamically in stock form but then you go screw with it and wonder why its slower.

So perhaps like real life, things that create drag/downforce improve cornering & with less drag has faster straight line, cornering is more important anyway

2:50 is because of car weight. Literally, they do that with all the cars you should check it out I thought everyone knew that. It's like a little easter egg i guess for GTA. Car weight actually matters lol.

if u check out an real McLaren F1 roadcar and LM version performance, u'll noticed that LM version have better acceleration, but have less top speed around 370 km/h while standard or roadcar version have top speed equal 386 km/h and less acceleration power than LM version. So in this case the rockstars realize it in GP1 like an prototype of F1 roadcar in stock and LM version with customization

This is a VERY good car. It's faster than the Tempesta . Slightly slower than the Italia. I tested it yesterday .

The only reason to have the GP1 is its likeness to the McLaren F1. And the car doesn't have its distinct seat layout.

it very clear. when you have more downforce with spoiler and difusor etc. your car goes slower in high speed. But the differnce is very big

Aerodynamics are a thing...you need to take the drag and downforce created by the huge wing you had on it into consideration.

Its slower because spoilers in real life make cars slower. I bet if you test handling, the car with the spoiler will have slightly better handling, because of the increased downforce.

Umm.. call me crazy, but do you think that perhaps the body upgrades improve handling performance? Maybe you're not aware of this, but in the real world things like spoilers reduce top speeds due to drag but greatly improve handling at those speeds.

Could it be that the exterior mods increases the weight of the car resulting in the decrease in performance, top speed and acceleration?

Its catching wind with mods more aerodynamic in stock but it's abit late for rockstar to start implementing that kinda stuff into the game must be a bug
