1) Don't think the Quality of education will be any different 2)Education/Competition is tougher than where you are from. 3) Don't do it because you don't like your job. 4) Don't go if you'll suffer from loneliness and you have poor stress management. 5) Don't get loans to study there when you're already poor.

MS is just a ticket to the US, prepare for leetcode style interviews before you apply for MS. make sure you're ready for them. Academics don't matter, I've copied assignments, faked a research paper, and a lot more that I cannot say here. If you can crack the interview you'll get the job, the only thing that matters is DSA and leetcode, spending 10 hours a day on that shitty coursework which is completely irrelevant to what is actually required makes no sense at all.

@masterprattu
@masterprattu 4 года назад
A short summary for people in a hurry. However, I will strongly suggest watching the video in its entirety to actually understand his reasoning behind the points. 1. Do not come only for practical aspects of education or the quality of education. 2. It’s gonna be hard. Your peers will be incredibly competent and hard working. Be ready for a lot of work pressure. 3. Once you’re in the USA, you’ll be stuck in a job. It’s not easy to build a startup/ business in the USA. Also, your job will not change very much or get magically sorted out. 4. You should be able to handle the high levels of stress/ pressure/ loneliness. Master’s degrees can be very stressful. 5. Remember that it is possible to accrue heavy loans for completing your Masters. Reconsider if you will have to take heavy loans and have no alternate/ contingent ways of paying the loans back.

My reasons to go to the US are: I don't like living here, I want to live in the US Half of my family is in the US. My brother is working in the US I am an average student, and I cannot handle the highly competitive market here. I don't have great academics, but I can grasp quick, and I can learn things. We are financially well, so I don't have a loan burden. I know the dark side and also the bright side of a student life in the US as many in my family have been there, I can actually live with my brother if I get to study in a university that has offline classes.

This is fantastic advice. In the final analysis: there are two types of people - those who thrive in US conditions, and those who don't. Do a deep soul search and figure out which category you belong to. Whatever you do, don't go to US because "everyone else is going" That would be the worst decision of your life, if you happen to be in the second category.

Being an UG from bits pilani... I planned to move US for Masters... Thanks for these valuable suggestions... And it's literally worth listening your advices. It's better to attend placement cell and make money other than going to a country which is "OVERHYPED".

You know Yash, whatever you’ve said it is 100% correct. As an international student studying MS in the US, I can totally relate to everything that you’ve said. People would say negative comments on videos like these but little do they know what is the reality here (whatever they are seeing on RU-vid videos by the influencers it’s just one side of the coin, the other side is really dark). Anyways, if anyone really wants to go prepare yourself mentally for the hardship, you can do it if you persist and push yourself. All the best. And thank you Yash. Would appreciate if you make some video to help students who are already here and are facing these issues?

Thank you for the video. I should rethink as well. Is this the same for PhD as well? I'm also a start-up person. But all the start-up ideas coming to my head are not relevant to my major. I want to learn more in depth in my major and want to use them in whatever I do in future. So I'm stuck between these two options. Sigh! Everyone saying to follow your passion but here I am not knowing what's my passion. Any way thanks for your honest opinions.!
