Couldn't agree more. I've only ever come across greedy dentists who show a lack of enthusiasm in their job. Scary sitting in a dentists chair when they cannot be asked but are happy to take your money!
This doctor is not just to gain money from the patient his goal is to help the patient of what is better result! Hopefuly all dentist are same like your concern!
Then why don't dentist help us sue the big corporations that put sugar in all foods causing us cavities? Why don't they send the dental bill to Pepsi or Coca-Cola?
left my dentist. suspected shady dealings, and got second opinion. who can protect us from a dentist doing what is best for their pocket and not OUR best interest?
I really admire this doctor. There are a lot of unscrupulous dentists out there.A dentist deceived me into getting a filling I didn't need 5 years ago.It weakened the tooth, and now the entire part of the tooth with the filling broke off.Now I have to go see my options for a partial crown, which i have to pay out of pocket as dental is not covered by my insurance 😡
One of the most valuable things in life, is time! I'd like to sincerely thank you, for your time and outstanding energy that you've put into making this video. I, myself, am in the journey of becoming an esthetic dentist and your contribution just continuously inspires me! I want you to know that you're very important and we appreciate you tremendously.
DA MotoNeko there’s gotta be a way to do it if anybody does it. It’ll be me. From this day forward I will give my whole life towards the discovery of growing back a new tooth mark my words
@@iranpena9905 They are already doing it on mice.. in Japan. This has been going on for over a decade but still has not been tested on humans. I can bet it would cost more than a mouth full of implants.
In the PAST, people lived solely on meat, never ate plants, and had perfect teeth with zero cavities and never had malocclusions (we fix those with braces nowadays).
Update I got 3 white glass crowns I can finally eat comfortably after like 6 months with two cracked teeth they were caused due to childhood neglect of my oral care i am now 20 years old
To all the people having money issues: Speak to your dentist and ask about all of your options before they start working on your mouth, don't just lay down and assume they're going to list out options for you as they drill through your teeth. You HAVE to ask what the plan is and what your options are for your teeth. This will save you tens of thousands of dollars, I am not exaggerating. If you're dealing with crowns specifically, ask how much your crowns will cost if they're made in-house, compared to in-lab. If the dentist says your teeth can have partial crowns, ask how much those are compared to full crowns (sometimes partial crowns cost more than full crowns). By doing this myself, the bill for 13 crowns and 1 filling was $10k instead of $22k (lab crowns were significantly cheaper), and I'm only half way done with my mouth. ASK QUESTIONS. TALK TO THE DENTIST. DON'T JUST LAY DOWN AND ASSUME THEY HAVE THE BEST PLAN FOR YOU.
You are right about onlay. They are great. If you chip off half of the tooth or a little of the tooth, an onlay is much better than a crown. But if you need a root canal, your going to need a crown over an onlay
Thanks to you I got to save the remnants of my tooth after the root canal treatment I had last year🙏🏻 The idea of losing my tooth structure with a crown just didn’t sit well with me, as I want to keep and preserve as much of my natural teeth as possible. That’s how I found this video a couple of months ago. I don’t live in the US, so I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to find a dentist who could do this. Thankfully, I found a dentist who could in Turkey where I was on vacation last month. She made an onlay and I’m so happy I didn’t just go with what my dentist suggested!😊 She didn’t have the advanced equipment you have here, though. So I had to wait 4 days for them to design the onlay after they removed the old plastic filling - 4 days where I was scared my tooth would break while eating etc. But it was worth it👍🏻
I went to the dentist today, my total crown broke off with what little tooth structure that I had. My dentist was able to drill into my root canal and mill a crown that fit into the space. The crown basically created a post so the crown could be bonded to what little tooth was left. It worked so well that he struggled to get it off after fitting. The new crown feels like my old tooth.
My regular dentist was out sick so when I chipped a tooth the only option I was given was to get a full crown. I wish I was aware I could’ve gotten a partial. Not only that after I got the full crown I was in pain they told me that I may need a root canal. Thank goodness I said no and after a couple days my pain went away. That place is no longer in business.
As a Dental Hygienist, I would have hoped that a dental cleaning would have come first before the restoration. On the other hand, Great work. Thanks. : )
he is absolutely right unfortunately i watched this video after full dental crown on all of my teeth an now its not alligned there are gaps infront tooth and gum problems are on the way kindly thumbs up so people can be aware i wish i have watched before s**t went down
The Game, sorry to hear about your experience. It's unfortunate we go through these unnecessary experiences with dentists and other doctors. It never occurred to us we had something to be concerned about, until the damage is done. Too much ignorance and corruption in the medical field. I hope you are finding ways to make peace with what happened.
How I wish I had the chance to meet Dr. O when I was just a tiny 9 yr old girl...my life would have been different for sure. My left front tooth cracked/chip when I fell face down. The dentist grind my tooth and had a jacket ...that was around 1990's . When retainers are "in" I also had mine even if I actually didn't needed it. The backof my other front tooth had a small hole/ decay. The same dentist filled it. And days later on my 18th bday , I had a sac of huge ball of abscese at the back of the filled tooth ! I had a lot of guest but I can't open my mouth to welcome them ! Month later the dentist pulled my front tooth , got so frustrated I told her to remove all of my teeth because I dont want to have a piano ( alternate kind of real tooth and a false tooth and a jacket ) I was barely 19 years old then... I always join beauty contesr since I was just 6 and that changed when I lost all my upper teeth due to my stupid sudden decision as a teen and unfortunateky having a dentist without sympathy contributed to the fcked life I had. Got so depressed and lost the love of my life and lost all the confidence in the world. At 39 I have decided to begin @ 40 so I started the 1 yr process of dental implant. And this year on my birthday coincidentally I will have my final crown. Exactly 22 years ago I should have known this if only I had the chance of meeting Dr. O - the sexiest , most handsome , sympathetic and extremely intelligent Dentist.
For all of you saying you can only afford dentists who insist on extractions or crowns: you can probably find a guy who does onlays. They're similar to partial crowns and not as much as full crowns. Same thing with finding dentists who do pulp caps instead of referring out to endodontist friends for root canals even when the pulp isn't affected yet.
You are amazing for actually caring about saving people's teeth and not just being interested in making easy money off of crowns which seems to be the way most dentists operate. I had a filling fall out and even after having a long argument with my dentist and insisting he just fill it back up, he insisted on me getting a crown, refused to fill it and brow beat me into getting yet another crown, making it the 5th crown in my mouth. They last about 2 years and then come off, and I get to go in and get another crown remade.
Thank you so much!! I have a bit of molar cupping on my bottom left side, and my dentist recommended a full coverage crown right off the bat, despite the fact that it hasn't reached dentin yet. You saved me from a lot of regret and pain!!
Thank you so much for this. This couldn’t be more clear and break downs are amazing!! Wish you were near by I’ve dealt with dentist that don’t explain it or show you. They want you to just say yes to something you don’t understand
My friend has 4 kids works very hard to support his family he has no money is in bad pain but keeps going please do a probono for him so people can see your reall work god bless
Why is Dental always separate from Medical? I suffer so much from autoimmune disorder causing dry mouth. I fight as hard as I can. But continue to get riddled with cavities. The cost is so high deductible and out of pocket that I always have to pick and choose what to save and when. My wife had not 1, but 2 heart surgeries costing me less than my rear 4-6 teeth. Less by well over $1000 out of pocket?
Me too I always had dry mouth even as a little girl and always got in trouble for not being able to chew meat well enough to swallow come to find out the saliva glands for making the enzymes amalace that’s most responsible for breaking down meat in the mouth never worked. And I didn’t find this out til cancer treatment when the dr was describing the side effects of radiation to the saliva glands and that these changes can last a year or be permanent. I laughed in his face and said well what the hell? I had these symptoms you speak of my whole god damn life. Needless to say it’s worse now I literally have a burning mouth 3 years after radiation and two of my teeth just powdered and fell out of my face while talking to my boss
I found a place in Northern California where I live called Chapa Da that does sliding scale and takes medical So since medical wouldn’t cover my crowns I got them 50% off so each was 550.00 And excellent work . Maybe your town has one . Also delta dental is 117:00 a year and crowns are 600.00
Thank you so much for this. I was not sure if I needed a full crown or not on a back molar, but the tooth is full of decay and has cracks on all sides, compromising the structure and there is already not much of the original tooth left. I feel more comfortable now knowing that there isn’t much they can do but a full crown. Thank you!
Woah - thought this was a Tony Robbins impersonator vid, but no, thankfully this is an experienced dentist giving some rather good advice and being both reflective and ethical in challenging traditional dentistry practice. Bravo, and hopefully your already great video delivery can also develop along with your channel. V refreshing to see these personality dentists coming forward and telling it like it is. Thanks man!
The dentist is correct. If you chip a tooth, i would much rather get an onlay than a crown. An onlay is a ceramic tooth that matches the exact area you chipped off from your tooth. There is much less drilling getting an onlay, than getting a crown. I have both a crown and an onlay, so i know.
I have a healthy posterior molar # 32 to be exact that my Dentist want to place a crown over to align it straight for three implants numbers 29, 30 & 31. I prefer type 3 gold onlay or full cast gold crown. Gold is best for the posterior molars I care less about aesthetics. I understand less tooth have to be removed for gold crowns and there are many advantages with gold crowns.
Dentist aren’t on the business to save tooth’s. They always want too go for the expensive work, root canal and crown. I need to come to your clinic, 👍😊😳 thank you for your video info.
I know this video is old but I’m just now seeing it and wanted to share my story. The dentist i went to ruined my tooth, i was supposed to leave with a crown but didn’t, i left with the shaved tooth filled with that tooth decay filler, I’m bruised , in pain and swollen still!! Dont go to a crappy dentist people! I’ve learned the hard way, now i have to find a dentist who can hopefully fix it! 😭
This is amazing. 3 weeks ago I chipped my tooth. 2 weeks ago I got an infection and took antibiotics. Dentist says I need to get it extracted or get a root canal then a crown. I happen to be on vacation and so this all happened in the month of April. I'm wondering if I can stop by your place and get your opinion if I can get a partial crown?
Great videos, would love you as my dentist but I’m in the uk, why would you rather do a veneer for a peg lateral rather than a crown, my dentist has only ever mentioned a crown, but I like the idea of a veneer
I'm a poor woman working as a cashier at Walmart, had a root canal where they drilled in and killed my nerves. I keep getting cavities in my front tooth. Now they said my tooth is to thin, That they will need to pull it out because they cant fill it anymore. How much Doe's it cost to get this procedure done. I have no health or dental insurance and I can not do care credit either bad credit.
Crowns are a total ripoff. I have two teeth in the lower front that, because they were so tight, they broke and split off parts over the years. An honest dentist in Baton Rouge did what is called a 'build up' and that procedure worked perfectly. The build ups have been there for going on 30 years now with absolutely no issues. The material used is the same stuff they make a crown out of. The difference is that the dentist did minimal drilling and basically did the same thing as doing a filling but just adding a bit more of the material to bring the tooth back to it's original size but not quite as big so that the crowding tightness issue that caused the breakages would not occur again. As I said, both these tooth build ups are still going strong at almost 30 years. The cost? About 1/10th of what a crown would cost. So, instead of supporting some hack dentist's 'Mercedes fund', I got the job done for a fraction of the cost and I retained most of my original tooth. I have since moved and every new dentist I try finds at least one tooth that needs a crown. And every time it is a different tooth. Of course none of these teeth have real issues or bother me. One dentist was so bad he found issues with 22 of my teeth. No cavities or anything but of course they either needed original fillings replaced or, of course, wait for it, Yep, a crown! Oh yea. Those same front teeth that were fixed by the honest dentist in Baton Rouge 30 years ago were the first he decided needed work. The cost of his proposal... Oh yea, $3200! Right.... I have a car that can do over 160.... I just got out of that place and put the pedal to the metal..
Would you say that for purely cosmetic purposes, a full set of veneers are better than a full set of crowns? I’m trying to decide at the moment which to go for. I’d just like a perfect smile.
I had a crown on my front tooth it only lasted a year my tooth rotted 😓 . So they rebuilt my tooth I have to get a crown over it but I don’t want it . I’m afraid it’ll just rot again . So I’m keeping it the way it is , my tooth isn’t perfect looking but it’s lasted me 2 years so far . I totally agree with what you said .
My sister knocked out my 2 front teeth when I was 7. They were held together by bonding till I was 18; and I paid for crowns. I want to replace them now, cause I’m 38; and they have silver at the top. They have been fully functional for 20 years now.
Innovative Dental of Springfield Really? I’m not hopeless? Tooth number 8 is bonded, and I’ve had it redone because of staining, and getting it redone on January 20th because it’s staining up agin. It’s not as bad this time because I quit smoking, but I want my 3 front teeth looking nice. I’m whitening my teeth right now, and now the crowns and bonding stand out really bad. They look so cruddy.
Where are you located? I live in Tennessee.I want my front teeth looking nice. My dentist in Detroit did a good job on them 20 years ago, for what he had to work with back then. They have not broken, which I’m very grateful for, but they are getting discolored and cruddy looking. I also hate that the silver shown when I smile.
tooth 30 I have a large silver filling no pain but slight fracture, little gum tissue can I get a partial crown or full gold crown? would I need gum laser surgery to lift gum tissue? I want to keep tooth to avoid extraction
Wow I always wondered if they could use a computer to mathematically create a tooth that works with the bite too. Pretty cool that they have it AND they can mill it with a machine. What’s the program called?
Dr. O great channel and info. As a former dentist too I will love for you to make an informative vid on those insta-smile plastic arches that ppl tend to look into to get a smile makeover for cheap. Have a great Memorial Day and keep on with this, Awesome!!!
Dr. O, you rock!! I sincerely would like get a consultation by you. I do live in NYC but if it’s affordable for me. I would seriously consider going to Springfield ASCAP.
@@InnovativeDentalofSpringfield thank you so much doc.im so happy you respond my comment.doc this morning I'm having a temporary crown my old crown was 20yrs. (Done in my country) old the fact they change it coz they re-treat my old root canal for 20 yrs.now I have a question, it is possible to change it to.veeners from crown? Please respond. I have a lot to tell you soon when we can visit there.
Amazing technology, invaluable in the right hands I suppose, just out of interest what was the bottom line cost to have that work carried out?. For me that was the only thing missing to make an informed decision.
My dentist did a root canal and told me I need a crown ...5 months after , now my tooth is sensitive and he's blaming me for not making an appointment for the crown. At this point I'm thinking of just getting it pulled then go back to him.
I barely have any decay on a molar and the dentist wants to do a full crown. I do not want that done and think I will be going for a second opinion. Thanks!
I didn't follow my gut feeling now my teeth are fucked. He put crowns on all four of my front teeth. They were not in bad shape. I just chipped my composite veneer. So he did all four to make them match. Now I am learning so much pain and complications can happen with crowns. They should only be used if there is decay.
Thank you so so much for this great information. Are inlays/onlays possible instead of a crown when you've had a root canal? This tooth in particular is third from the back on the top left (next to the molars).
I had a root canal with onlay (covered about half my #19 tooth). Dentist at other offices have pestered me each and every visit (to the point i felt judged) to replace it with a full crown. One dentist treated me like i was stupid. I had had a filling and a deeper filling, then a root canal that should’ve been done to begin with, then retreated at 8 years due to a missed canal. I was done working on this tooth, it worked great, i could eat anything on it, zero pain for years. They told me it isn’t as strong and might break at any moment or my tooth itself might break. What can you say about this? It did fine for 12 years! then came loose yesterday so i am getting a crown to replace it today. Were they right about this? Or did it come loose due to normal expected longevity? I don’t see any additional decay.. i will find out today what shape my remaining tooth is in. They told me the tooth itself might fracture/break but that didn’t happen.
Hey, I'm a dental assistant and am applying to dental school this cycle. Love the videos. I was wondering if you could do a Dental Drive video about MI Paste. I have a few incipient lesions I'm trying to remineralize using prevident and periodic topical fluoride application. Its hard to find consistent information about MI Paste and I'd love to hear your opinions. Keep up the amazing content. Thanks!
First video seen Subscribed!!! Loved the simple explanation! I was expecting something worse than an implant.. . THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!!! Wooooow!!! Wish I could meet you.
I am having a partial crown on my upper premolar which had a root canal 10yrs ago. The tooth has been prepared and has a temporary filling in. Since this my tooth has throbbed.
