Make sure to remember these when using eBay, and thanks for checking this out! Please also subscribe if you haven't, we are almost to 1K!!! I also want to state that the FLO BROS refunded me for my purchase which was very Awesome on their part! Thank you Guys
Lol! Don’t undercut other sellers! Unless you do the undercutting. What a joke! That’s basically what you said. I would love to know eBay became the market maker for this hobby. Let’s take a market that is super liquid already bc it’s only worth what someone is willing to spend, but make it even more liquid by saying auctions dictate the value of these items. To be perfectly your Russell Wilson should only be worth about $100 bc he sucks now as a player and as a human. But bc enough people bid on this case hit and who knows who actually bidding on it, it’s not a $150 card. And then you tried to set your own market by making the card $250. And then feel robbed bc someone was probably just trying to sell a case hit that has crappy value bc of the current player. People can sell cards whatever price they want bud. If I wanted to sell the card for $50 bc Wilson has no meaning to me or I’m trying unload a card bc I know it will sell for a decent price. That’s my call. It’s your choice to sell on eBay and take on those risks of super non concrete market.
Agree with you 100% I start my bids at .99 cents because I have way to many cards I collected from the 70's 80's and what ever the bids end up I'm fine with that. I know it hurts the feeling of a few trying to sell at higher prices but yet you'll see a bid from them every now and then.
Lol .. when you added your card at BIN for $250 when another was at $150 in live auction you actually screwed that guy because now $250 is his ceiling and yours, you did this before the 4th guy came into play
Also undercutting is naturally a result of supply and demand. If you have a card with high print runs, you are going to have to lower the price due to high availability (low demand). If the cards are staying listed and nobody is buying, the logical way to get a sale is to list for a lower price. If I need cash I have a card I need to sell fast, Im going to list it for the lowest price for it to be the most attractive to potential buyers
Never sold a card on ebay but have purchased thousands. My biggest gripe is the sellers that give me a tracking # within hours to fake out ebay corporate and two weeks later having to message to mail the damn card.
Don’t agree w #2, free market, what your describing is essentially collusion - which is a no no. There is nobody that cares what the other guy sells for, the seller is trying to sell their card at their price. What is not covered is the difference in investment on the original card. If I paid a buck for a 100 card and you paid 50 for the same card to resell - I will already have the upper hand. As far as comps - in the card industry the volatility goes against your argument. There are numerous cards that have gone up and down by 80 plus percent in the past 1 to 2 years. I make about $1000 a month on eBay as a side hustle by undercutting everyone - sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. Just my quick opinion. Totally agree on the packaging.
Under cutting is called captalism - if you don't like it don't sell sht. That's called "how the world works". Yes. It sucks sometimes. Welcome to being a business owner.
Some eBay seller cards are way overpriced… I am a buyer…never sell. If I am to sell…any card that I put on eBay will have a timeline…sell as quick as possible thus the price would be between the cheapest and the priciest. I saw one guy listed one of his card over a month and that same card still not sold…that’s stupid. He listened at 137$ at the beginning and I offered him 127$. He declined…I followed that card and it’s still not sold…I was laughing
Couldnt agree more on the extra bubble wrap for sending out graded cards. I dont sell many graded items, but when I do, I always put a few layers of bubble wrap and blue tape on it before I put it in the bubble mailer to send out
Also your title says don’t do these 3 things…but you gave us 4 1.Package properly 2. Don’t undercut 3. Stop listing eBay 1/1 4. Don’t bid unless you buy
So… did you, or did you not undercut the $500 card? You drove the market down in half. Even if the bid goes for 200, a person could show that comp but the only other avail. Choices will be the 500 ones.
You as a seller are trying to get as much as you can for your card. The Collector is trying to get the card for as cheap as possible.. So the Collector is hoping you guys undercut the sh one t out of each other.. That auction that was at 150 you could have waited untill the moment it ended and if you reckon it was near what you wanted do a buy it now there and then or wait for the other auction to finish also and see what that ended at it could have finished higher again if it wasn't a common card... Remember an item is only worth what someone is willing to pay.. 👍👍🇮🇪
That's why I started listing at true no reserve 9.99 auctions on even high end stuff so ppl must bid even if have offers I don't accept unless its around the price others asking, as long as theirs not way overpriced
The non-paying buyers is probably the most aggravating for me. I mean why in the hell do you want to send the offer or place a bid if you don't plan on paying for the damn card and I am just as frustrated with eBay for not taking care of this
Happened to me on a great card can card be re slabbed card ruined, and yeah ppl so careless in breaks and shipping why I'm very adamant about proper packaging!
I use the flat rate box for slabs over $50 but am happy to put lesser cards between two pcs cardboard in a bubble mailer. I won’t leave feedback if there’s no care in shipping to me, personally.
USPS isn’t perfect. Accidents happen. I have bought thousands of cards on eBay and only a few came damaged because of USPS. As far as starting an auction at $99, that didn’t make any sense whatsoever. 🤦♂️
The idea of not undercutting other seller's prices is such a bad take. My only goal in the instance of listing a card it to sell that card. If selling it for a lower price than those that are listed gets it sold faster, that is my prerogative. I have no duty to other sellers.
Couldn’t agree more with the undercutting. So frustrating and hurts everyone. Has happened to me a few times on bigger cards. Remove the card and list in the future. Always a risk. But better off waiting with the hopes of getting the price you want.
Your Right, Rule #2 was too long winded. Rule #2 only works if people give a c#it about the math you are discussing. These people are doing it on purpose. They do not care about maximizing their profits, they just want the money even if they could get more.
Cards ruin by Canada Post so many bent cards jammed in the mail box. Yep the "Gretzky Mania" PSA10 card that recently sold for over a million. Prices on Gretzky Cards shot up 200-1000% with buyers... a few months later now just a bunch of overpriced cards not selling. The fees that they charged to sellers are getting crazy here in Canada. (On cards I just sold for $560 bucks just got $480 transferred to bank account. They also "fee" the taxes paid) Anyone selling online, understand a card that just got graded has to sell for $50.00cdn to break even. I just post locally 60's-80's O pee chee hockey and come out farther ahead dealing with the locals. New time sellers Read the fee schedule rates carefully there are hidden extra fees that could effect you.
I won an auction of a card that had a surface issue. Like a huge scratch like an X on the surface. The dealer made it apparent in the 2nd pic, but the card went for a little over comps. Ao whoever bid me up last minute didn’t see it as well imo. And it wasn’t cheap, was a /20 topps finest throwback auto. I told dealer I couldn’t buy it. Wondering if u think I should be dinged or in the wrong for not buying it? My point is if the card went for half the comps I would have bought it begrudgingly. Just know I could never resell it.
These are tough because on one hand it’s damaged but on the other hand it’s still rare so people will still seek it out for their collections. Knowing how eBay works if someone “bid you up” at the end it means you had your max bid set at a certain amount or you were bidding yourself, so yes I think you should be dinged for that.
If you didn't want to pay that price you were bid up to why would you put a bid for that price? Yes, you should be dinged for not paying for a bid you put in, whether someone else bid you up or not you put in the max bid
@@biiigsportsguy6148 great advice, you keep doing it that way, and I will keep shipping mine in a small flat rate box wrapped in construction paper, and the slab bubble wrapped itself, but that's just me...
@@thomastaylor9579 the USPS has caught on to that tactic and often rip open the outer wrap and see you’ve used their priority box. You then get dinged with a postage due notice and end up paying the flat rate price automatically on your PayPal account. I’ve seen it many times.
Just subbed. Your THEORY about the Under cutting is good but people are Greedy and they don't care. Welcome to the world on the internet selling.. or as I call it RACING TO THE BOTTOM. I refuse to play their games and sell stuff for what it is worth. I had a card shop for 20 years and I have been a full time ebayer since 1997.
I strongly disagree with your understanding of economics. To be clear, my customer is the only person whose opinion matters when I'm selling something. If you can't compete in the market as a seller, you need to find another racket.
