As someone who’s been in the trade for about 3 years can confirm constantly looking at the HVACR in any and all places I’m at and how I can install a better system lol might go see a therapist because I’m starting to have symptoms of constantly talking to the unit like it’s a person or to myself….. I LOVE THIS SH!T

I always do that. When my wife and I are out to dinner I'm always pointing out stuff for the ducts or the location of the supply or returns . Let's not talk about when you're not working and you walk by a condensing unit you always feel the discharge air.

Not me building a pool heater out of a 18k window unit, with a brazed plate heat exchanger, and plumbing the evap into my return air plenum and running the central air fan on low, so I can heat the pool and cool/dehumidify the house with the same watt of electricity. Next up? Solar powering it 😈

As an electrician I can understand what you mean. I don't see houses. I see cables flying in an ugly or neat manner, weird placements of certain switches or other stuff and what not. You just can't unsee it anymore.

I'm an automotive locksmith. When I first started on call 24/7 while driving I would just see car locks and think how I would open it. Years later I have guys on the road and I'm in the office. I never think about it any more I just see cars so there is a cure for it. Hire guys to work for you. The other funny thing when my wife and I are watching something on TV and they are going to pick a lock she tells me to close my eyes because they are going to do it wrong. She's just as bad though being an MD. Every time there's a hospital scene she points out how things are hooked up backwards and or not right. They say things that aren't correct etc etc. lol

Haha I visited California from North Carolina a few weeks ago and couldn’t help to notice how different the HVAC systems are in California. Noticed exposed ductwork on top of residential houses lol y’all have a lot of rooftop package units for residential properties. In North Carolina package units for residential properties are always on the ground, we have a lot of Goodman and Trane in my area. We have a lot of cheap builders who make absolute flex duct monsters in the attic

Man, im not an hvac tech but Ive installed 11 two ton units in my rentals and diagnosed the simple stuff over the years and its pretty awesome work but that attic crap is for the youngsters. I have thought of working for a company long enough to gain some diagnostic skills but i just cant bring myself to working a 12 hour day because i lnow thats where it goes in the summers.
