Dylan Thomas published an anthology of poetry called 'the colour of saying', which I found remaindered. The poems are all as readable our loud as his own, and all full of wit and humanity, poetry and pity

I just decided to do my college essay analyzing this poem! Needless to say, this makes me so happy. I would highly recommend anyone who enjoyed this to look up Dylan Thomas himself reading it as well as Anthony Hopkins and Rodney Dangerfield :)

I did an essay on it when I was in college way back in the 90's. It always meant a lot to me.

Why not record the poem in it entirety with every one of these actors and put here on youtube? Would not that had been a finer salute than this cut and paste job?

You can see how the older actors here actually respect the words with time and feeling, whereas many of the younger ones just say the words.

Would like to hear the full reading by a few of these wonderful people. Any chance there could be links to each person? Switching between people is interesting, but each reciter is going to have their own interpretation and cadence… The switching shows off the variety, but doesn’t let you into the emotional depths…

This is good, but I'd take the Michael Sheen reading over this, and use it in my classroom when discussing this poem. There's something about the poem, to me, that demands a solo reader rather than a "team read", if I can call this that?

Maybe as an ensemble reading, this would have been interesting, because people would have kept time and intonation with each other. Almost like a choral piece. But this editing thing just doesn't work. I get it, there are lots of good Welsh actors out there, but the poem is sadly lost under the numbers.

Who had the dumb idea that dozens of celebrities, however salubrious, talented or not, would be able to celebrate this masterful poem to any effect whatsoever other than garbling it ? - They even stepped on each others lines ........ daft I call it!

Whoever came up with the idea of ruining this great poem by stitching together these incompatible voicefaces should be made to sit in a darkened room for a week. And whoever sat in the meeting and agreed to this debacle should be reassigned to less artistically demanding tasks... like ordering paperclips and stocking photocopiers.

Love the poem but what a load of crap, especially all the hiss in the soundtrack, typical self indulgence; derivative of perfect day 20 million years ago...(yawn!.. past my bedtime)
