Is there something you would add to this list?

The same kind of animals such as Deer, skunks, mice, insects, birds, groundhogs, squirrels etc. as nice and as cute as these animals are, they can be pests if they are in the wrong environment. . We could also mention some of the roads. The freeze/ thaw cycles can create some problems with potholes which can be hazardous to your vehicle suspension system and tires. And the Mississippi River itself which sometimes floods and the occasional tornadoes. (In Rockford Illinois we don’t have to worry about the Mississippi flooding but we do have the Rock River which floods occasionally and the tornadoes and storms. )

Did I mention that if you are allergic, you could have difficulty living in Bettendorf during the summer and during harvest season when there is lots of pollen and dust.

I grew up there and the school system is ahead of most states. Great place to raise a family! Yes there is a winter. You are north. Its very safe. You obviously do not get around much do you? Dont go to Chicago, Florida, Atlanta, Nashville. You will not survive. I miss the Quad Cities. Boating was fantastic.

I grew up in Bettendorf and I agree with your critiques. Reasons to move there could make a good follow up. Check out Devil’s Glen, Veterans, Middle, Leech, & McMannis parks. They each have their own unique vibes. Crow Creek alone doesn’t give you the full East Bettendorf park space picture. If you’re hitting up West Bettendorf (anywhere in Bett West of the 23rd/Middle/Spruce Hills intersection @ Frozen (or Splash in Summer) landing) cover Grant Wood & Paul Norton.

Winter in the quad cities is not much different from winter in Rockford Illinois. Same with summer, fall and spring.

Which Quad city do you specifically live in

Wouldn’t there be plenty of shopping elsewhere in the quad cities. Such as Moline, Rock Island, Davenport?

Yes absolutely you are correct.

On the Illinois side you have Moline. Walmart won't even build in rock island. Kmart was the last dept store and that closed down nearly 20 years ago.zayers closed down nearly 40 years ago. There is not one dept store in rock island. The crime is too bad. You know a city is pathetic when even Walmart won't open up a store there.

I've been doing some research about different things, because I moved away from Bettendorf nearly 40 yrs ago, and will be moving back soon. All's I can say is WOW (and, not in a good way either!) I can't believe how much regulations, codes, laws, licenses, fees, and time frames placed into the personal lives of people who live there and conduct business there!!! Talk about government overreach. Smh. They are all up in everyone's business constantly! They tell you what you can and can't do on your own property without paying for a license or permit. Unsanitary or overgrown are understandable. But everything else? That's non of their damn business! I can't believe the residents have allowed such overreach and cost imposed on them??? Bettendorf USED to be a good place to live. But, apparently it's not anymore? Unless you like having your personal lives controlled, and being told what you can and can't do constantly! For instance:. I'm using a horse stock trailer to haul a load of items to my new home there. While the trailer won't be there for long, bad it's being sold here in Kansas before I finish my move. I'm being told it can't be parked in the driveway of my new home for more than 8 hours. What??? Further investigation I learned people can't park their boats, campers etc on their own property either, and are FORCED by the city to pay monthly storage fees if they have one??? Well, my horse trailer WILL be parked in my new homes driveway more than 8 hours, and it will be brought back to Kansas within 24 hours of it being parked there. I DARE them to send one person to the residence to question or fine me about it! Moving takes time, and I have things to do on my first trip there, and nobody is going to force me to pay storage fees to park the trailer for a few hours!!! Oh boy...why am I starting to regret my decision to move back there??? I live a quiet, peaceful lifestyle and bother no one! But, I'll be damned if I'm going to ask the city permission, and pay them for every little thing I do. They are not my daddy, and I would wager a guess that I'm old enough to be some of the counsel members mother! They will be hearing a lot from me, and I'll be attending the city counsel meetings regularly! Growth is good for any city. But, when the powers that be go to extremes. We have a problem Houston! Looks like I'll be forming a grass roots effort to reel in the abuses of power once I get there.

The parking lot right across the street from Duck Creek, where Pizza Ranch and Burlington Coat Factory are, is terrible as well. There's like weird drive ways and banks that you're not sure where they lead. The whole thing just feels like a pacman board. lol

@@LIVINGINTHEQUADCITIES The Bridges are ok.... Definitely not worth the money. I moved in here around 2019 or so. I was the first tenant in my apartment. I've since transferred to a 2-story apartment on the top 2 floors that came open about a year and a half after I moved in (I was originally on the 2nd floor, but hated having someone above me). The apartment on the top floor is definitely nicer, and I can see the bridge and river from my patio, but the apartments are definitely kinda sub-par. The management is so-so, and the building as a whole hasn't been very organized. Issues with the fire alarm system in the building caused well over a dozen false alarms since I've been here (ranging from late evening to even 2am), and they've only recently finally fixed it. It took legal action threats, and blocked rent payments to finally make something happen. Overall, I wouldn't recommend living here. haha. I just don't want to deal with the hassle of moving until I find a place to buy. But with the current market, it may be a while, yet...
