My first experience with PaleNeØ was a delight! I am rooting for this group and I can't wait to see more.
The growing pains with new software and editing are prevalent...and annoying. I believe mistakes are important to the learning process and I made a bunch putting this together. I appreciate the patience ^_^

Finally, I didn't know when recording and editing but the drumming credit on aLIVE goes to Ranna from Pinkish Crown. You can follow her works here: lit.link/en/ra...

Paleneo is a fantastic young band. They don’t have an official drummer yet. All their songs are good. I enjoyed your reaction and analysis

just love REOTO -the guitarist with the goggles and the weird ears. she never says anything in their live feeds - stays silent. but then she comes alive with some vocals in all of the songs and she has a great voice. and damn cute to boot !

For sure. And I gotta see what some of their streams are about.

Liked PaleNeØ a lot even before the Heavier Japan, they're pretty fun :) I just feel like something's not quite right with the mix in this one, I'd have to listen to it from a better digital source to be sure though, something's a bit muddled there. I did see aLIVE on the release day even. I might have said it before, but I do believe you'd really dig Sokoninaru, who do mostly Ling Tosite Sigure-like math-rock/metal that's still super-catchy. Fujiwara Misaki (藤原美咲) is a kick-ass bass player and they do have awesome single-camera and even commentary playthroughs (albeit in japanese, but I dare say one still kind of gets it) for some songs. One song usually packs more musical ideas than most other full albums (with the exception of MtH) :P 'Saitei' would probably be a good starter, that or either 'Gou Ni Moyu' or 'Tenohira De Odoru'. Another suggestion which I see few people rarely do is Onmyo-Za, they've been around for about 25 years and are just ludicrously good. Their singer Kuroneko is cited to be one of the inspirations of Unlucky Morpheus' Fuki and what I especially like is that they sound a bit less "westernized". One difficulty is that all the song titles aren't transliterated so you have to be able to write Japanese (or just copy/paste). '茨木童子' is of their latest album and amazing. Although it sounds like you're pretty fully occupied already, maybe just keep those bands in mind, and who knows maybe you'll even reach tricot, who do music that admittedly breaks my brain (in a good way though) XD

I think I have Sokoninaru on my list. I've seen Tricot's name before so I'll have to check them out too. I just watched a quick minute of Onmyo-Za. Watching their singer and bass player work off each other reminds me of Yuko Suzuhana and Oumura Shin from Wagakki Band. I like what I'm seeing!

@@YoMota I was actually thinking Wagakki Band would be a good reference point, but really mostly because of the vocals. Unfortunately Onmyo-Za don't have a lot of video on RU-vid, despite having produced 16 full albums. And while it's probably a little long for a reaction format tricot has a rather great live session on audiotree that's well worth watching. A song to get into their groove would be something like いない (INAI), I think.

Hey Moto thanks for doing this reaction. If you don't mind I would suggest you make your window a little bigger during the reaction. PaleNeØ started their RU-vid channel with really good covers of BAND-MAID.

Hey, thanks for watching! The editing will improve. I haven't owned a computer in years. I've been doing all my video edits and recordings on my phone so I'm still working through some stuff. I appreciate the feedback.

@@YoMota Yes I remember you said you were getting a new PC but then you were gone for awhile. Good to have you back. I know you probable have a long list and don't do this for a living, but like others have said when you have time check out Sokoninaru song Tenohira de odoru and BAND-MAID's Manners+Black Hole live from their RU-vid page, it really shows the versatility of BAND-MAID. Manners is like it says a mannerly song and Black Hole is about a literal black hole like in space with all the chaos that brings.

It's not a capo on the bass, it's a string mute wrap to eliminate sympathetic ringing on the other strings and low end rumble whilst playing busy lines. They're more commonly used by the shreddier end of instrumental guitarists, Guthrie Govan uses them for ensuring crazy tapping parts sound more clean and I think Jennifer Batten might've been one of the first exponents back in the late 80s. Noticed in the end clip that your thumb on your right/picking hand was floating (whilst sympathetically flailing a little) rather than anchoring on a pickup surround or muting lower unused strings? Was that a conscious choice or just something that happened cos of your playing position whilst sat down?

I didn't know those existed! I get it though. I never though about muting bass strings until I got my 5-string. As for my thumbs... They are double jointed (I think) At the very least, they aren't normal thumbs. They can both bend backwards at 45 degree angles. They have never pointed straight either. And I'm double jointed in a few spots in both hands. Definitely both middle fingers into the ring fingers. You can see it when I pluck on my right hand. Those two fingers move at the same time if I don't really focus on it. But the real answer? Zero bass lessons. Things like anchoring your thumb would never occur to someone who has never taken a lesson. A bass teacher would be horrified by my technique...which just gave me an idea for a video ^_^
