well, it’s pretty much getting deader and deader by the minute. the mob votes are basically splitting up the community and developers, and other games are just overpassing Minecraft nowadays. it’s still a fun game don’t get me wrong, but it was wayyyy better back in the day
@@Darko_Boi That's only on the new disk, 5. I'm sure the first two were made to be pieced together and were made at the same time, then when they asked the same artist to make disk 5, there was a concerted effort to make sure it was not only interesting to listen to alone, but could be meshed with the other two if played correctly.
*The GM after waiting literal YEARS for his players to solve the puzzle* "C'mon, guys, it's not that hard. Three discs, three jukeboxes. 5, 11, 13. What could you possibly do with those discs. Could the names maybe possibly mean something?"
I totally see matpat making theories like: “IS THE ENDERDRAGON STEVE FROM THE FUTURE?? WAS THE RAVAGER A ROBOT BUILT TO MAKE CHEESE??? DID THE WARDEN HAD S*X WITH SANS???”
Theory: What if all three discs were about the Warden? I would assume that when you play disc 11 right after disc 5, its as if the player was running from the Warden to escape to the surface because he's one of the only survivors after such a tragic attack. And possibly in Disc 13, I could say that the survivor dodges the sonic ray and jumped into a river below the hill.
No the person went into the nether you can hear the entrance sound and the sound when you get out. By the way the nether sounds are creepy. I think the person is going into the nether and exploring it (Thanks, I never got so many likes on a comment before 😊)
Matpat will stretch your theory way out. He would be like “…and that number would be 7, and what religious book finds 7 significant? the Bible. Ok so let me explain…”
I first discovered this with my cousin. We thought it was a hidden piece of lore because it matched up. My cousin was really into minecraft lore after I told him the game has a lore, and he became hooked.
@@albusnightspring8057 My dude, the tweet is literally from the person who has been the lead designer of the game for the past 11 years (7 when the tweet was made) and gained full control of the game 3 years later. If he says it has lore, I think it's safe to assume it has at least *some* lore.
It wasnt. 11 and 13 likely were made to be synced, but the game changed ownership and developers between the release of 11+13 and 5. There is no possible way it could have been planner, since the guy who made 11 and 13 no longer works on minecraft. So 5 has no connection to 11 and 13, but 11 and 13 very likely are connected.
@@Katana2097 Disk is the US spelling and Disc is the English spelling and both can be used interchangeably. But I do believe when talking about records/sounds it is disc
I really wish they added a mob that'd mimic noises to lure in people, playing disc music, playing noises of specific friendly mobs, (Sheep, Pigs, Cows, Villagers,) And being some sort of skulk based entity, but it'd have a jukebox/disc-player merged with its body, or a gramophone, sounded kind of cool.

@@FaithG-s1f I mean, to be fair.. it's just the warden that mimics noises, the warden itself is already scary.. this isn't really that big of a step-up.
They must have done this on purpose. It's impressive how they made the sounds fit together even when these discs were released separately Edit: The arguments going down in the replies are something else.
@@AceFaz The reasoning for the disks having so much effort put into them, is because as of now, there isn't much of a story. At first it was meant to be scary, then people wanted a story.
Walking, no, running. Cave noises and the sound of a bat screeching before the sound of chains and someone repeatedly banging on metal. Or the footsteps of something huge. The sound of flint and steal being struck. Someone coughing, heavily breathing, and sniffing followed by more, smaller, footsteps. It's rewinding. Or is that a portal? Certainly, no portal I've heard before. Someone is flipping through the pages in a book as the music calms down a bit. Yet the unnerving feeling you're still being hunted stays. More flint and steal. Something opens I believe? More footsteps swiftly gaining pase. The sound of what believe is dirt is being placed, exactly nine times. I can't exactly make out what that whooshing noise is, but immediately following you can hear amethyst. A few more strange noises I can't place, and what sound almost like screaming in the background. Maybe phantoms. A sound almost like keys accompanied by a chough. It sounds like their walking around in an echoey metal chamber. You can hear the footsteps speed up as the breathing increases before they reach what I can only assume is a portal. It's silent for a moment. Booming noises. Static. Footsteps. Chains? It's getting faster. Louder. More portal noise. Whispering. Yelling. It dies out and you can hear the same shacky breath again. Flint and steal? Slow footsteps. They get faster and you can hear three dirt blocks getting placed. Skulk and what sounds like a roar before the same rewind like portal noise. It dies out and you can hear movement. Mining maybe? Picking up blocks? The whirring or whooshing like type sound dies out as the last track ends.
With all the updates and info we have now, I'm convinced this is an ancient builder going through the entire story of minecraft, the wars, different mobs that were made accidentally, the builders creating portals to escape(being the nether, end portal, and then ancient city, which we dont have yet), and the us the player is the actual big bad of the whole thing. we are running away from the bad now, not the ancient builders or mobs.
all of the discs are missing portions of themselves. When played together it forms a coherent recording. It can be noticed when only one disc is played, and there are sections of silence, or sounds that don't fit with anything. Or even just part of a sound.

Honestly, those first sounds you thought were the warden were most likely the wither. The guy was probably heading to the ancient city to warn everyone they'd been found. They opened the portal, only to hear sculk on the other side. You can hear the wither outside, and an army stepping up to defend while the portal is opened. You can hear the warden roar, followed by the death sound of the wither. The wither was gone, everyone praised the Warden, allowed sculk to spread through, until eventually, they learned that the warden was hostile, and also blind. They added wool to the floor, but eventually the warden found them all, leaving the sculk to spread through the ancient city, and letting the city fall into disrepair, Killing off the last survivors in the overworld.
You can hear creeper explosions and arrow sounds in disk 11 and 13. I doubt it's the warden. It's most likely the mad rush to escape to the caves to avoid the wither, opening a portal to escape when the wither arrives at the city, only for a warden to step through and kill the wither. You can hear the warden's roar when the portal opened, as well as a slowed down death sound of the wither. They praised the warden, naming it the warden, someone who could protect and gaurd the city. They carved its face into stone, and shaped the portal to look like him. Eventually, they learned it was hostile, and blind. They placed wool on the floor of the city, but it was too late. Sculk had spread through the portal, and the warden had finished off the last of the survivors, leading the Ancient City to fall into disrepair.
The discs were probably supposed to hint about an enderman attacking the survivor on a dungeon where the end portal is, but then the new update changed it to the warden.
the person who designed the warden originally said they were basing it off of what they imagined from the original discs -some guy who has a cringe name (me)

does anybody notice that at 1:15 there is a sound of a flint and steel click then sounds that resemble a nether portal? this might mean that the player might've been running away from some nether mob(s), like piglins
My theory: we will eventually have a full set of numbered disks and will have to play them all together like this. This will give us the full story of what is going on
@@karanoelle4819 Basically I get that disks and discs are basically the same thing (well, they’re technically slightly different but I don’t wanna talk for hours) however the game calls them discs, the vid calls them discs and mojang has never referred to these items as disks. that means they aren’t disks, they are discs. They’re different things and because it’s been confirmed countless times what they are that means they’re music discs and not much else. Hope this helps, I get that it can be confusing lol
0:45 looks like he's running from someone... or something, in a cave, or a dusty place, maybe mine shaft or someting he saw something he wasn't meant to see or discovered something he was never meant to discover, adding suspense...
They might’ve been planning the warden, or at least it was supposed to be another mob, for years! Such a creative Minecrafty way to make a kind of audio storyline and split the audio file into three then name them based on when you should play them, gotta love Mojang
I have a theory on what's happening in these discs after listening to them closely. It sounds like an experienced adventurer in a cave moving to probably the new biome in the cave, he cycles through a book to see if there's any records of such a place so he tries to light a torch with flint and steel. Most likely the reason why he was using it so long was because the light was dimmed and flickering. That's when The Warden probably comes into view from the light and the chase ensues. The player manages to barley escape and makes it back to his house. The next set of sounds could probably be a nightmare sequence of what happened and that unidentified creature actually catching him. This leads to the player eventually going back to face The Warden with the slow steps and when he does something strange happens instead...
Gongratulations, you have officially done these 4 amazing things! -more Minecraft lore -fuel for matpat -finding out something that mojang hid -and getting appreciation in the Minecraft community! @@aiexzs after all these years, I still watch his content because the theories have validity. Even the dumbest sounding theories make me go from "no way" to "wow, that actually makes sense"
honestly this makes perfect sense that they’d set it up like this compared to playing all three starting at once, since that actually gives u time to put them in consecutively without having to rig something
It sounds like a group of people preparing to go to the ancient city after the sculk infested it after they made a portal but the panic try to run but instead go strait to a shrieker and set off
I think it's moreso the rush to escape the wither, taking to caves, opening the portal when the wither finds them, only for the Warden to step through and kill the wither. You can hear a werid shriek, followed by distorted noise (the portal opening), then sculk activating through the other side of the portal, beginning to spread through the portal, followed by the roar of a warden, and the slowed down death sound of a Wither.
I love the addition to the story of Minecraft, but I kind of hope it’s never fully told. Ever since I was a twelve year old girl playing on her cousin’s computer cause she didn’t have her own, I liked that we had to ability to take all these pieces and use them and our own imagination to come up with our own story. Back when all we had were Discs 11 and 13, and there was no apparent connect to them, I always thought Disc 11 told the story of a man who was… clearly running from something, not sure what though. His coughing suggested illness, or an issue with his lungs, or maybe where he was there was just a lot of smoke or something. That clicking sound we hear I always thought was him lighting a pipe, so maybe that’s it. The flipping of paper was him journaling about something, maybe his travels or his discoveries or his secrets. I always thought that whatever it was he was journaling about was the reason he was running from something. Eventually that thing catches up with him, and he has to escape into the Nether, hence the warping music and why it suddenly cuts. Although now I’m thinking he might be escaping *from* the Nether. Back then I always wondering where Disc 12 was. And now we have this.
Ooh wait, the clicking could totally be the sound of an actual flint and steel! I always thought he was just rushing to take some sort of medication lmao

It sounds like a dude is running from the warden, tries to block up towards the surface but gets knocked down, maybe hits the warden and it goes away. The man starts to light a torch and begins to run when the warden comes back, he then strikes it with his sword which is the sort of slicing sound and the warden screams and runs away. The man tries to block up again, but alerts a skulk sensor, which summons the warden and finishes the man off. This is just what it sounds like to me.
Assuming this is real... it's the internet, dude... this is impressive for 3 reasons: 1. getting it into the game coherently. 2. some guy with the right skills needs to compare the sound and data files, and play with them constantly. 3. and he needs to break the cypher (simple as it is). That's neat.
I'm just going to come out and say it, these discs all have similar vibes and will probably sound like they go together regardless of how they're played together. I think this is just a coincidence.
If this was planned i imagine it was planned in stages. The first idea being that multiple discs could be played at once to reveal something- but at the time they didn't know exactly what. So the discs were only added when the Minecraft devs felt like it was time to expand the lore in relation to the new updates or ideas they had. (Or maybe they didn't have that idea when they made the first disc of this series, but the idea actually started when they made the second disc)
Another clue to the Disc Mystery. I don't think it's about the Warden. Some sounds don't match. It's something more powerful, something unnatural. Something we've never seen before.
i thought that disc 11, 13 and 5 just had random names, but seeing how their sounds all blend in together to tell a story means that mojang must've had this idea years ago and just didn't wanna tell the community to spoil the suprise
Theories aren't about the people making it's about the game these were no accident and whether they planned it doutful it may be they are linked and it's some story of a person fleeing something something untold and falling into a dimension of horror with something lurking watching waiting for new prey
Disc 5 and specifically the warden were made with the endings of 11 and 13 in mind. Many assumed the monster in those disks to be a endermen but the guy that designed the warden actually commented that it’s the monster they made to fill the role of the monster from disks 11 and 13 Basically 5 and the deep dark is a dive into the lore they’re building off these disks
I don't know about that. they could have just been adding onto the pre-existing discs. i doubt they would have been planning that for so long. there isn't enough evidence to conclude if they have or have not been planning it since ten years ago.
1:59 Starting From Here Until The End Of The Video , It Really Started To Sound Like He Opened A Portal And Went in... Probably The One in the ancient City...
theory: minecraft had the idea about the warden for many updates, the discs playing together is from the sculk dimension and in 1.19 it came over into our world. The footsteps are animals, mobs and even players running.
it sounds like all the MC bosses combined, like the moist sounds and heartbeats are the warden, as well as the amethysts. The crackling and winding up sounds could be the wither, 1:50 could be the sound of the wither spawning, starting, or a portal to the end. and 2:27 has soul sand sounds. Then again at 2:46 this is clearly the warden making clicks.
Unlikely, a developer said that the Warden was inspired by Disc 11, so seems unlikely that they were planned to be connected from the start. Also, what “coincidence” are you taking about at the end? I don’t anything that sets this apart from playing them at the same time.
@@sboy2044 the sounds sound like they fit together. 3 discs with different sounds, somehow fitting together.. the whole point is that it sounds normal, that shows that they fit together
I feel like the the 3 disc happen in the same world but different perspectives. The beggining of disc 5 sounds like a recap of the disc 11 protagonist probably exploring the ancient city (the heavy footsteps probably implies that they came together to explore a cave but got separated or the prota went ahead of the group). The warden gets summoned by accident and the following music part is probably their life flashing before dying to the warden. Then, we change to another player near the deep dark biome (or probably next to it), we can brefly hear an explosion (probably the explosion on disc 13 which happens farther from the other 2 players) and then the protagonist getting detected by the warden, recieving the darkness effect, and slowly hearing the warden's heartbeat approching before getting attacked and killed. Since the player on disc 13 didn't get attack by the warden, they eventually get to the dark biome, avoids summoning the warden, finds the other 2 players dead, and retrieves their discs. They were probably researching the deep dark biome and its surroundings and that's why they were recording audio.
They are 3 theories: 1-Zombie apocalypse, that would explain the coughing. 2-Wither In either way, someone is coughting and digging underground,i think that the first one is the right one.Because back then the ancient builders(The humans) were so many and in some blocks we can see a drawing of the wither. So i believe that it's a zombie apocalypse, someone is infected and is digging underground. Now originally,he would go to the end,but we did hear a warden. Anyway it's the end, escaping to another dimension to survive a zombie apocalypse,if it was the wither no one would live to tell the tale.
Hear me out.. The first disc "13" no one knew what it was about before TU11 other than the only threatening being Herobrine, disc "11" a broken record about someone escaping the Enderman (or Herobrine again), and disc "5" the Warden the being responsible for the abandon mineshafts. In other words Mojang should make Herobrine an official boss worst than all
Raw power at the peak Not a single weakness In the masterful design yet holding strong Planned, perfectly precise Shall it suffice to say *It's all being made up as it goes along?*
also i like the part where like the music begins and right after then the book pages turn it legit sounds like he hid in the library or something like that
I am not going to lie. I was actually expecting a Rick Roll for no reason. I am now disappointed that I did not get Rick Rolled, according to my unreasonable expectations.
Man watching Matpat's latest theory it sort of does make sense. Disk 5 is the most heavy lore drop disk in my opinion as it clears stuff out even more. You can literally hear the wither dying towards the end after the warden was set off, likely due to the portal in the middle of the area opening which results in the warden spawning in and killing the wither, but obviously the warden doesn't side with the survivors, instead attacks them too which results in the disk cracking towards the end into shards. Long story short for those who haven't watched the theory: Basically Matpat believes these ancient builders of a tribe which worshipped one of the gods (referring to Minecraft legends) fled down into the caves due to the wither chasing them after a horrible experiment gone wrong (4 soul sand and 3 skulls which spawned him) they built a civilization in the deep dark and tried setting up the middle portal to escape to some unknown place but it never seemed to work (there is proof because underneath the portal is some Redstone they were probably experimenting with to open the portal). The wither finally caught up to them underground and the portal (for some unknown reason) opens which you can clearly hear in the disk which tragically also fails as an escape route as it results in the warden spawning in through the portal and blasting it's ray at the wither which kills it (we can also clearly hear a slowed down version of a wither cry). So when you look at it that way, it genuinely does make sense
What if instead of the End, we get the beginning Edit. Nethermind, that's the point of the wither, so the Nether should definitely have been given that name
To me desk 13 is scary at first but later on if you continue to listen to it the song will become a peaceful song as if the song is having a story about facing your fears and they go away you should listen to it”.
