I just wish this game had a decent battle mode. It would have been the such a better game. I always wanted a Wii U when I was like 9 but my parents never let me buy it, even though I saved enough money. I did play it on switch though, so it’s fine.

Something I loved about Mario Kart 8 though, was that for My Nintendo members, you could get the DLC for free if you had enough points, so you didn’t actually have to buy it. Which is what I did.

This was the first Wii U game I got with my Wii U, and even though I got bored of it due to the lack of other Wii U games for a long while I was hooked for hours.

I actually did use tilt control before getting the switch version. I don't use it anymore, but even when I did I was still a monster on the track. It just felt right back then.

omg jay you reminded me how hyped I was to see we could hold 2 items in MK8 deluxe! lol some of my best mario kart memories were playing online MKW on the couch in the living room in the early AM hours after everyone went to bed, listening to music on my ipod shuffle, and my cat would come sit on my lap.

oh yeah, you can press the minus button to have the mini map on the TV screen. This wasn't in the game at release for some reason, so they patched it in not long afterwards lol

Mariokart 8 sold 8.46 million copies on Wii U, which would put it at 23rd highest selling switch game (just BARELY over Mario Maker 2). Doesn't sound bad, but some of those copies were sold with the console like Wii Sports. Ouch. Interesting how this one game was the highest selling on TWO consoles by a large margin. Also, cool to see how this game has been supported for so long. Few make it to ten years. Minecraft classic reached its 15th anniversary recently (maybe not its proper release, but still insane). [Note: I got the sales info from a quick Wikipedia search, so take the statistics with a grain of salt. Probably decent enough for a rough estimate]

MK8 was a good game to Play from 2014 I remember when I was 6 years old and I saw it advertised and I begged my mom to by me a Wii U I got a Wii U in 2015 and completed MK8 in 50 CC in 2019 and Did the same in MK8 Deluxe in 2022
