Splat 1 still holds up incredibly well. Also they closed down the servers due to hackers stealing info. But hackers that float in the air and throw 161826 burst bombs have been in the game forever now lol

people aren't playing "for the jokes". People like this game. I'm glad the servers are back up because I play it regularly, even though I have 3...and 2.

Favorite part of splatoon 1 is how paintable the maps were. Like 80% of the maps in splatoon 3 arent paintable

As someone who barely started Splatoon 1 a week ago I can confidently say I’ve ran into several hackers. Two of which were friendly, the rest went ham, and there was even a war between two hackers (1 on each team)

i used to play that game so much i think i was close to getting those 9.9m coins limit legit

The only types of hackers they probably got rid of is the ones that could mess up your WiiU just for playing with them, that’s why the maintenance took so long.

Fun fact: call of duty Wii U servers were permanently taken down at almost the same time as the mk8/splatoon servers went back up. A scrumptious sacrifice to squidkind

Splatoon 1 hella better than 3 imo. Better maps, better music, better artstyle, better idols, better overall vibe. Less weapons and QoL, but damn if I dont miss that game.

I was tempted so many times to get this game, but I always remember the hackers doing that thing with the burst bombs and pulling the fill bucket tool (art program reference) trick on the whole map and I didn’t wanna deal with that 😂

i still play the game unironically as well as 3, as both are fun for their own reasons. i funnily enough use splat 1 to reduce rage i get while playing splat 3. also, i have still to this day never encountered a hacker in any of the splatoon games.

I got the Wii U and Splatoon 1 (after mine originally broke) just a DAY before the servers went back up. I was expecting to have to wait months for the servers, but it's back! The game holds up well, i love the old maps and i especially love the specials. It makes it feel like a whole, brand new game if compared to Splatoon 3. Getting hackers are rare, so far I'm level 10 and only have found 1 hacker. The only issue i've had is that i can only play 3-4 matches at the same time before my Wii U claims the connection isn't working, when it very well is...

I still play Splatoon 1 like daily but I never saw a hacker in game. Literally rank battles has been dry because there aren’t a lot of people playing rank battle. And I want to see more people playing rank battle like WE NEED MORE PLAYERS!!!

There was an exploit inside Wii U and 3DS games made by Nintendo that allowed a hacker to steal NN personal info such as username and passwords. Splatoon 1 and Mario Kart 8 where victims of such exploit and so Nintendo shut down the online to fix the issue.

Well I can’t wait to encounter more hackers in the game. Only reason why I say “more hacker” is because I actually encountered a hacker like the hacker you see at 2:54 like 3-5 years before this video. I am trying to say that “I saw a hacker 3-5 years before this video with the hacks being pretty much that exact hack you see at 2:54”

I bought and finished the game not too long ago, so I hold no nostalgia to this game finshed 2 and now halfway 3, and I'm kind of at odds at how apart from the hacking you are so negative about this game. If anything the gamepad is The best way to play it and I really miss it in the other 2. Also 1 and 2 still show your levels, you don't have to connect trough the lobby for the internet, Single Player is still the best in 1 and DJ Octavio is absolutely insane in the first game! You gotta give it more respect than shoving it off because 3 is out. It would never be there if 1 wasn't as good as it was and still is. I'm glad at least in my area in Europe I played it with almost no hackers at all. But appreciate the O.G. man, it's a good game. And I hope we get a Wii U pad for Splatoon 4 like they did gamecube controller for Smash! :)

I feel like the people that are still playing Splatoon 1 are doing it for one of these 5 reasons 1: they are nostalgic and wanted to revisit it 2: Old maps and content that was removed from later games 3: the wacky balancing 4: to use Splatoon clientside mods because they are really easy to install in Splatoon 1 5: hacking because they don't care about their Wii u NN account anymore anyways so if it gets banned no big deal, or they are just living on the risky side.

Very underrated game in my opinion. I mainly played it in 2015 and 2016 but i also started replaying a couple of rounds last year. Hackers became much more common, yeah but i think when u dont play ranked it doesnt matter at all, and it adds more variety to the normal game. So i always thought its funny to see someone use hacks. Like it doesnt happen every game. i think back in the day u had like a 0,5% chance to meet a hacker and now its like a 5% Chance. So i would assume it happens like every 20 games. So its not that annoying in my opinion. The devs also made it so u cannot get spawntrapped so it doesnt get frustrating at all. Im actually very happy to see, that the online mode is still playable and i check on it once every year. So today was the day. The game feels very nostalgic, and i would rather play this title then the other 2 Splatoon sequels. The ultimates and weapons are way better in the first game in my opinion. And also the playerbase is not that sweaty like in 2 and 3. It feels like there are still a lot of kids playing this game and sometimes u meet very good players, but its also prty rare. I think its like old call of duty was supposed to be. The only thing i really miss are the splatfests and that u cannot buy the clothes u want from the stores but have to fkn wait an entire day to have to rotation changed and with 200+ items have the tiny chance that u get the missing piece u need. Or hope that someone uses it only. (which they never do)
