Dave! Your tech riding skills are nuts. Just throwing it out there: I’d love an instructional video on riding skinnies. Body positioning, balance, jumping your back tire, etc. Keep up the awesome vids
Hes an ex trials rider so all i can tell you is practice. Theres no secret to it, skill is for rent so you gotta find a log and practice. Lower/smaller is safer and more challenging, then try doing the stuff he does. But keep in mind he makes it look easy, itll take time. Lock front brake to jump rear tire(or just lean forward and pull up with your legs)
Nic on that rooty chute section of Bookwus: “In the wet, that is hilarious.” If I were good enough (I’m not) to ever ride a section like that, pretty sure “hilarious” wouldn’t enter my vocabulary - especially in the wet.
As someone who does trail building/maintenance, the amount of work the builders put into these trails has to be phenomenal. Hats off to them, and of course to you for riding them so well.
Forests during cloudy days can have such a ethereal beauty to them. I'm glad you took a moment to admire. I would like it if you took a few more moments in your future videos to give us views of what must be stunning vistas. I definitely enjoy seeing your remarkable skills in riding, but adding some scenic beauty I feel would only enhance your videos.
He did trials riding (traversing obstacles on a small bike) for many years before getting into mtb. The skills he learnt there are very much transferable to mtb (incredible bike control and the ability to make your bike dance like a ballerina ect)
He Started as a Trials Rider. He is an Ex Pro Trials Rider before doing Mountain Bike. My Buddy who sends the biggest jump on whistler used to also do Street BMX. Many good MTB'er have history with 2 wheeled bikes.
How much braking are you doing down the trail? I would assume to hover over the brakes the entire time, but as someone who doesn't ride like this, I'm wondering how much speed control is actually in body balance and angles.
Upper Oilcan was the first trail I ever rode on the Shore. What an experience- it was almost too foggy to see and soaking wet. Cleaned everything except the ladder to steep rock roll. That’s an intimidating move in the wet…😬🤘
Well he is Twice the Size of a Pro DH Racer but rides like a pro. Doesnt matter how tough a bike if a Grizzly Bear rides it. LOL He's Probably the Heaviest in weight and Heaviest in Riding Style Ratio MTB'er in North Shore.
