As to what you said about not broadcasti, that brings back something that Ed Hart told me in 1979, it was "never show them what you can do until its to late to do anything about it about it".

I agree about that. Being original is only important in training but in practice u must keep your mindset on whatever works to deal with the situation. Adaptation is most important aspect in fighting than originality in technique execution.

As long we'll live in a democracy (Im Italian so pardon my bad english) everybody can tell his stories, 'cause we're all disciples in learning. Go ahead! Bruce was the greatest ambassador martial arts ever had, his real ability as fighter is not even a problem for me, he was a man ahead his time, what he did in movies is more than enough. Thanx ciao amico!

My first sensei (James Logue), taught me two important things (among many): 1. "Always give back." That does not apply only to returning the opponent's energy, it also means help your fellow students. Help clean the school. Help people - give back. 2. "Do not wear your gi in public." Another way of saying, do not broadcast your stuff. Like you mentioned, a t-shirt that brags, a person that brags and shows off. Don't wear your gi in public.

I also trained under someone whose style was a mixture of many elements but with a wing chun and southern Pacific islands base. It took me awhile to start to absorb and dissect everything. It had elements of tai chi chuan, pa kua chuan, and also techniques like what is seen in pentjak silat. The style was heavily Filipino. Lacoste/Inosanto blend is what he called it. He also used dumog and pananjakman and panantukan. It was very interesting and he was very fluid, fast and powerful. He also was technical and explained everything like Adam does in classes. I trained under this man for a good 11 - 12 years. To this day I love this man because he gave everything to me willingly and freely. If you ever read this Kel...Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Chi shong tin is my greatest inspiration. But by practice and PRACTICE ALONE, did I begin to feel what all these concepts and understandings meant. Just do your forms, listen to your master, and like miymoto musashi said, "The martial way of life practiced by warriors is based on excelling others in anything and everything...There is nothing outside yourself that can ever enable you to get better, richer, stronger, quicker or smarter. Everything is within...Seek nothing outside of yourself." It works. Believe it or not. Amituofo

oh cool, my wing chun was learned from the Moy Yat lineage also. But the school I was attending was a bit 'cultish'. My sifu and I broke away from the association. We eventually went on our separate journeys, as he said it was time for me to go out and explore for myself. I'd learned what he had to offer at that point in his life. We're still friends. I started becoming more influenced by the Filipino systems and Silat, and got pushed into the modern handgun combatives stuff, by a lot of the cops that were training at the same gym.

There is a few old addeges in tai chi. 1. Never go to the meaning if you don't know it. 2. Don't be greedy to learn it all in a day... what this means is if you know kung-fu it's OK to proceed to the meaning or content of the martial art, because there is way more to it than you can learn in a day or a lesson. Teachers go through this alot student comes in and learns student gains some knowledge and decides the art is easy after some time and a small amount of enlightenment. Student leaves. However the seed was planted and the student still grows through experience. The teacher always feels like they could have done a better job if students would stay around. However sometimes the student gains other knowledge that propels them forward. Sometimes they just get there feet wet. Thats kinda what happened to Bruce he got his feet wet and a spark set him on fire to learn and discover his way. His teachers should be very proud even though he didn't stay with them. This is what teaching is about show great content if you know it and allow space for students to grow. Sometimes it's with you sometimes its not dont exhange your teachings for retention there is more than you can teach in a day.

What! “Wing Chun” or “Ving Tsun” itself is already a modified and/or simplified version of the Kung Fu because in order to master Kung Fu then one has to acquire (master) all the different sections (“styles”) of it such as Shaolin, Tai Chi Chen, Wushu, Bagua etc. Well to put it in another way, “Wing Chun” or “Ving Tsun” is like the “English” Language and so in order to create English then it has to consist of Greek, Latin, Hebrew, French, Old English, German (Japanese) etc. So you get the point, right?
@i4MiSRAEL
@i4MiSRAEL 2 года назад
@Tai Chi Tube: Haha. No man, “Wing Chun” or “Ving Tsun” is just as sophisticated as the “English” language itself because there is a secretly hidden philosophy behind it and not many men and women beings who can truly understand it unless he or she has reached at certain level of understandings. Well however, it is just that so many men (women) are being indoctrinated in their ways of thinking and so that is the reason why not many “Wing Chun” or “Ving Tsun” teachers who can really explain it simply. So therefore stop blaming a gun if you are such a really terrible shooter, haha.
@davidwilliams4837
@davidwilliams4837 2 года назад
@Tai Chi Tube With respect, Wing Chun is as deep [& misunderstood] as Tai Chi. Wing Chun appears "simple", but the well is deep because there are many "intentions" concentrated in direct techniques. The Wooden Dummy form reveals ADVANCED Kung Fu applications [pressure points, rib breaks, subtle positioning]. WC is an energy-based art NOT a movement-based art.

I don't understand the need of originality in "practicing" martial art. It's not a religion so being not pure is just a common sense. Let say someone is attacking u with machete, wing chun don't really have a counter technique about it. Do u really still wanna deal the machete guy using typical wing chun stuff? I think it's stupid. Training and kata is just merely a tool, it's bound to principle. In principle, we learn about attitude and how to deal with things physically or mentally. Learn and train wing chun as original as you can do. But when it comes to practice, adapt to the situation and do whatever works to solve the situation.

Bruce shut down a professional boxer in a boxing rules match??? What does that mean?? Did he just cover up and run around so the guy couldn't hit him?? So what? And how do we know the boxer was not just being respectful and friendly with him? How do we know how many shots the boxer got in? If you claim none, I would have to say that you are either naive or a liar. So what does shut down really mean? Tired of hearing about a talented martial artist who is very mediocre today, just because the movies and wing chun instructors puff him up to gain from it. All this mystifying Bruce, what he knew, what he hid, who he fought, IT'S A LOAD OF CRAP I TELL YOU. Move on, break the idols!
