For people who want that camera protectionwihtout sacrificing camera quality get a case with a camera cover that slides over the camera or a case with a nice raised lip!
@@BuluJenkins-gx2jiIt does. Not in all cases, but in particular scenarios especially at night, that extra layer of glass/plastic could degrade the quality of your photos or videos. It also depends on WHAT lens protector. some are bad, some are terrible, some are alright but still pointless because it still may degrade quality. Just get a case with a raised lip.
My friends got cracked because he didn’t have it They’re only good for six or seven months and then you have to get a new one because they get foggy. If you leave your phone in the shower, they start fucking up from the steam but I’d rather spend another six dollars instead of $200 but I think some of the screen protectors warranty for life
Bro are you using plastic lenses☠️🗿💨 I used my Galaxy S3 for nearly 7 years, I dropped it many times facing back camera and theres no single scratch (its not using sapphire)
They don’t reduce quality. I work at an Apple repair store that also sells accessories. I apply these daily for customers and always check to make sure there’s no imperfections or reductions in quality after putting them on. We also have repeat customers (usually old people who have no grip) that love to tell me how it’s amazing that they don’t lose quality while taking pictures.
Nope. Not unless you want your crystal clear 4k hdr log uhd pro res ultra Chad giga godzila cameras to turn into your granny's potato tracfone dollar general phone cameras.
@@DynestiGTIthen for that matter, you wouldn't need a case or anything else. The problem is that I am sure a lot of people don't intend to drop their phones but accidents happen, especially to people like me who aren't well coordinated.
@@lol-hr1pz no. The lens still works and the cracks dont really get in the way of photos. I don’t want to replace it myself because ill probably damage or smudge something but I can’t find anyone who’s doing this repair for a good price. Apple want £500 for it!
They are like 0.1% sapphire so that they can legally claim its sapphire. But its not really durable not even as durable as display which it gorilla glass. lens is not even that. And glass is glass, its gonna break.
@@connorswartz1862 It's not by much, actually the difference is not noticeable. Anything that can scratch regular glass will scratch Apple Sapphire too, which shouldn't be the case if it were pure Sapphire.
@@Ben21756 that’s not exactly true. It’s stronger than normal glass by one degree on the hardness scale. Which doesn’t seem like a whole lot but it matters in terms of deep scratches vs light surface scratches
@@connorswartz1862 Apple sapphire is not harder by one degree, as it still can be scratched by an object with a hardness scale similar to normal glass, which is 6 on the mohs scale, that should not happen if it's harder by one degree as you claim.
Lol my old Samsung on fell road yet it didn’t break . My current iphone that I recently bought did fell on road and it came out without a scratch but as a wise person once said to me safety is best priority so I bought a good shock proof case for safety .
@@Kpopsta_n and replacing that lens protector Cost 10 bucks if you didn't buy a multipack.i have a s23 ultra and Right now getting a replacement done would be about 180 bucks. Main camera spare part alone Costs 100 and just the glass would cost 60. Didnt find the telephoto lens, but i rather replace lens protectors than have my phone in a repairshop
Yes it’s the black ring around the flash part make it looks like that I took it off it was a lot better but I put it back on until I take some pictures
Micro scratches are a genuine concern especially if you're going to use your phone for a few years, which is true for most people. I haven't used a screen protector or lens protector for like a decade at this point, so I know your device is bound to get annoying micro scratches from just regular use going in and out of your pocket or bag. Screen and lens protectors just offer a better long term experience because you can always just remove them and the difference in quality is minimal and less then that of micro scratches
It is perfectly okay to use lense protectors most of them makes a small difference. The unpure sapphire glass cracks easier because glass is glass and glass will break.. the harder the glass the more brittle. Using a camera lens the difference is so minimal that most consumers won't even know or care. It's perfectly fine.
I agree. Especially if u buy a name brand camera lens protector. Maybe cheap ones make it look worse but I use one and hardly notice a difference on my s23 and after my s22 got scratched I didn't want to risk it on my new phone
Literally one month after buying an iPhone 14 pro I dropped it and one camera cracked because of how insanely big the whole unit is. Get the lens protector and buy a DSLR if you want quality photos.
@@iiraianii1488 I hate to be the guy but it's *would have* And also lense protectors are basically android vs apple, you do you. I've never used one, and numerous people have very different experiences with these (it's like 50-50 if we narrow it down to only the Spigen lense protectors). I believe tho that if the protector cracked, your camera lense would not crack. Why you ask? Phone camera lenses were designed to withstand whatever, and unlike the glass in front of our screens, camera lenses have a small surface area (it's also a circle so the impact is spread evenly, I suppose) so it's harder to shatter. If camera lenses broke easily, I'm sure we would've seen many complaints about it in the past leading up til now, and companies would have addressed it.
I used the protector that is shaped like (P) ... i did a small test that cost me removing the lenses protector...the final result is : the lenses protector that is shapes like (P) has no bad effect on the camera...
Lens protector saved my camera on my iPhone 13 a few months ago when I tripped and fell on a rock with my whole bodyweight landing first on the iPhone in my pocket. The case had a raised lip around the camera module, which did nothing to prevent the small rock corner to pinch into my camera lens. The protector shattered but the lens was luckily fine
Huge investment, especially since I’m paying more for it with a lease and monthly payments.. I have a lenses cover, front screen protector, back screen protector, a case, and about to buy a dust plug. Lol.
exactly! It's purposely misleading marketing from Apple where they say it is Sapphire so customers expect a 9H+ scratch resistance like high-end watches have, but the lenses still scratches at 6H just like glass. Can't believe they are able to get away with that false marketing. I guess it's because Apple can technically say it is Sapphire since they do have small amounts of Sapphire crystals in the glass , but it isn't a pure crystal.
i agree that it diminishes the cam quality thats why i got rid of mine and after a few weeks boom saw a scratch on one of the camera rings which ticks me off to this day
This is like the TikTok videos where random teenagers post blatantly incorrect information while attempting to appear like they actually know what the fuck they are talking about.
He’s literally right though, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. A lot of R&D goes into making these camera phones for you to slap a stupid piece of glass or plastic on top of it.
@@rickyboy199554 do you use phone cover and screen protector? or do you wear helmet while driving bike? maybe you need a rocket science for all these safety precaution
I’ve cracked a lens before. I beat the hell out of my past phones (hopefully not my new current one) and that was the last thing to break. Genuinely impressed with the durability
Just by a protector that covers the whole camera bump, also the change is quality is next to none of you get a good cover, I just recommend one if you have stuff in York pocket that will scratch your phone, because it might never happen, but that one time it does
Bro is trying to get a phone repair shopping, most of us dont wana spend hundreds getting scammed to replace a tiny piece if glass so just buy a protector, its the same as saying dont use a screen protector, the adhesive damages the screen and touch quality will be worse while using the phone, its a dumb opinion
I have an S23 but it should count too. This year cameras on the back are loose and I though that a protection would be useful, since I was worried too for the quality drop I took some photos before and after applying them and no, there aren't any differences. The only thing that I noticed is that the protection tends to get dirty faster than the cameras glass, but until you keep it clean you'll be fine
For those confused about the song, it is KOREAN song, Darari by Treasure The lyric : "Geugol bonikka Bonita-nita nega" Nega 네가 means YOU in korean Naega 내가 means ME/I in korean
Firstly the sapphire len is just smoke blown up all your asses second how are people so rough with their phones I have had my s23 for almost a year and no scratches I use a minimal case too
You see, not everyone wants an iPhone for the camera quality. There are people who buy them for their stability against Android (which is ±60% better than iOS on some things)
I just got my iPhone 14 pro yesterday and I’ve been obsessing on whether will the my camera lenses won’t get scratched when I put it down. So I’ve been stressing on should I get a lens protector or not but I think you just cleared it for me. I was only worried about the lenses getting scratched
Same, I dropped mine with a case and the camera cracked. They said the screens good, but it got multiple noticeable scratches from barely anything. Get a good case and at least a screen protector (for anyone gettin then now)
Don’t listen to him📵 It can be removed if you decide you don’t like it…what can’t be undone (nor cheap to fix) is a scratched/shattered camera lenses 📸📲 What’s more useless: a broken camera or a VERY minor (if any) picture quality difference? I’ve gone through multiple broken iPhone glass in my day, I just put mine on.
I have a scratch on one of my iPad Pro camera lenses. I think it more has to do with the fact that I never used a case and let it rest on its back all the time, along with the massively increased weight. The lenses can definitely scratch, but as long as your lenses are protected by a case with a lip on it, you should be fine. Really wish I would have used a case on my iPad 😅

Yeah and now the scratches on your new $1,000+ iPhone are permanent. And you’ll probably drop it, when you could just use a case only when leaving the house when you’re barely paying attention to it anyways compared to at home and going caseless only there. Like smart people who aren’t irresponsible children
This is a lie. Does not effect anything on your photo quality. Just make sure it cleaned and put on professionally. Been a repair tech for a very long time now and never had this issue on any phone I have put these on.
I have been using an s21 ultra for years now. it is not cracked, the screen is in pristine condition. i do not have a screen protector and i never had one, i just have a solid case. why don't i have a screen protector? it adds reflections, makes blacks look less black and so on. modern phones are built well. get a good solid case so that even if your phone falls screen first the case absorbs most the impact. don't buy a shitty transparent case. don't drop your phone from a balcony. if you're safe with your phone you don't need a screen protector.
I use a screen protector and what Chinese screen protector do you use like i dont wanna be rude but imo my screen protectors been a life saver and ive never had this reflection problem unless i buy a really crappy one and i use them for the sake of saving money to not buy a $200 screen
Its not really gonna degrade the quality, it might technically take down the quality but its so little you will not notice it, especially to an average user. Its like a uv filter on a dlsr camera lens, the filter glass probably isn't the same quality but you're not really gonna take down the quality
It depends on the type you get, but most of the time they barely affect camera quality, and even if they do, it's so minimal most customers barely notice. You'd know this if you've used one before; if you have, it was probably a bad-quality one.
Lot of words in the world sounds like the N word....like in hindi/urdu... The word N.I.G.H.A.A.H (means eye) and there r many songs with that word....in korean nega means 'you" think.....(if i m not wrong)
People saying shit like "lens protector saved my phone!" Are delusional, you realize, it's easier to break the protector rather than the lens, and there is a high chance, that if you were to actually hit your protector hard it'd also shatter your lens. So there is no point in it but to degrade photo quality and give people placebo. Just get a raised lip case
Does this guy really think the "purpose" of the iPhone is just the camera quality? That’s just straight up bs, because the device has a multi purpose, and not just it’s cameras. Use your head, dude! Plus, my iPhone 11 camera lenses has a scratch right on one of the cameras, and it’s cracked on the glass part. So you can still get lens protection, but it just depends on the material and quality of the lens that WON’t damage the cameras. Do people even use their heads nowadays? Think of other options that won’t damage anything, god. So I have a different point of view, I don’t agree with this.
Thank you! Phones get WAY more wear and tear than professional photo equipment… it’s not even comparable…mentally we don’t take nearly enough care of our phones b/c their purpose should be that…a phone. It’s a camera to use for daily / on the go needs, so protecting it is the better option over the cost of fixing or replacement. Get an actual camera for photography needs. People have lost all common sense 🤯
@@buzzXgirlfriend Exactly! Like you said phone cameras are good for on the go, But now I’m thinking. They’re good for like beginner photography, If you’re like starting out, But tbh, What I noticed, Phone cameras on iOS don’t work well in the dark or poor lighting. On my iPhone 11, which I got rid of, But now have the 14 pro. But I’d recommend a actually good photography camera if people want better results. Yeah. 100%
Unless you want your iPhone naked & more likely to get damaged then follow this guys instructions. the difference is so minimal it shouldn’t even be a concern. news flash : people don’t buy an iphone just for the camera. We Apple users enjoy & buy for the full experience. Like no phone is sexier than an iPhone 😂😊 agree to disagree
Unless they are dirty, they do basically nothing to the camera quality. He talks shit about a lot of products but I don't think he's ever actually used any of them
I had a 6s in my pocket and bumped into a rounded edge of a desk. Cracked the lens lol. Brought it to Apple and they actually gave me a new phone (Apple refurb) no problemo. Had never seen that happen before.
@@najmieeffendy939 nope! This was a personal phone and was out of the 1 year warranty, too! Surprised to this day they did it all at no charge and no AppleCare plan.
dont believe this guy if you break your back glass or any camera modules its not repairable at all. Even Apple just replaces the whole phone to a new one costing you a lot of money. Get 1 dollar glass protector if you feel like it it can literally save you thousands. Could it sacrafice some quality? maybe... but not much. definitely not 1000 dollar much..
I got a new phone because I cracked my old phone camera and don't know how and where it happened but the glass is totally broken and now I'm getting a protector for my new phone 😂
I absolutely agree with you. As a photographer, I can tell you that the worst thing you can do to your high quality lens, is put a cheap glass or even plastic cover in front of it! That’s exactly why in photography we prefer lens hoods than protector filters and why you should use a case with a lip instead of lens caps…
#1 this is a phone camera ,#2 get quality glass protector & install right. Phones get WAY more wear and tear than professional equipment & mentally we don’t take nearly enough care of our phones b/c their purpose should be that, a phone. Sure it’s better to keep glass clean but if your looking for photography results don’t rely primarily on a iPhone. (Former photographer so plz don’t come for me lol ☮️)
My experience on using the lens protection so far are okay, Camera quality so far are okay, just a bit of shiny when contacting with lighting but not bothered at all since I’m not into taking photos and towards more to comfort, neat, protective and usable is enough for me. So the context is, either using the lens protective or not is part of how you use your phone. Someone in comment will say “Why not just use Case that cover the camera? Would be better and will avoid contacting the ground when putting your phone or what so ever”. I have experience when using those case which not a great experience since I scratch my lens with my older phone. Now I’m using lens protective and raised lip camera cover case. More protective more better, more avoidable accidents. Unless you drop your phone from 2nd/3rd floor.
It’s not difficult to crack a camera lenses on a iPhone lol don’t listen to this clown if u want extra protection n got the funds go for it if u wanna preserve cam quality just be careful
