I fully did not want to make this episode but the crew insisted. And it did force teach me about the internals of the P89. I still really like the Ruger it just hasn’t done anything to impress me enough to make it into the main show roster yet.
I really liked the P89 until I had to strip it last night and found out it has so many more places for dirt to get in than the M9. I went down in the swamp to use black mud but like an idiot dropped it in the flood plain that had an insanely high fine silt content. The guns actually probably both would’ve shut down if I had used more than three rounds. The M9 did not let as much silt get in an as the P89. I pretty much just had to wash the M9 in the sink. I had to strip the P89.
I have the P89DC Red dot optic also have a kydex holster. 2nd owner got it like new less then a year after manufacturing and only had 1 problem with the extractor. Still own it. Eats everything and is very accurate. If you can shoot that you can shoot anything
It’s shocking I’ve went this long and never owned one. They never stood out as being anything other than a standard service pistol. Then two days before filming this I heard that they were submitted to compete against my favorite pistol the M9. That intrigued me enough to go get one to try out myself. I heard it’s a copy of a 1911 but after getting it I believe they meant to say high power. I have zero complaints. It is in fact a good service pistol.
