I used to live next door to a retired captain and his wife who was still a flight attendant and instructor. Very cool people, extremely interesting to talk to. Their son was a flight attendant for the Emirates and his wife was also a flight attendant, so that also happens.

Well, my sister used to be a housekeeping manager in a hotel and the pilots room always a mess and the flight attendants room the bad or shower never been used many times. Lol.

Good acquaintance of mine is a pilot with a German airline. He met his wife of many years at work, she is indeed a flight attendant. Now they have children, they're not allowed to work on the same schedule in case something happens.

As my mother used to say, "Propinquity leads to affection." I always had the policy of not dating coworkers because it can lead to work problems when you split up.

Around 20 years ago I was on the first flight from Stansted to Glasgow. A lot of very sleepy passengers on the plane waiting on departure when the pilot was introduced as a Miss someone. Instantly all the heads popped up, obviously most people had never seen a female pilot.

I was a ramp agent back in the 80s and I dated a flight attendant and I knew a girl ramp agent that dated a pilot, the airline I work for had a No fraternization policy but we all worked around that to keep from getting in trouble

The answer to this question seems pretty obvious to me. More interesting is the question of how difficult is it for pilots and flight attendants to have long term relationships--it seems to me that if your work schedule changes you might not see your girlfriend or boyfriend very often.

Do they date other pilots? Of course! There are female pilots and there are gay pilots. Pilots are just people.

This world of professional pilots makes me feel happy about flying a small plane in my own time, my own navigation log, not too often: so special and magical! If i were professional pilot i'd be dreaming about the times when i'd be able to do just that :D especially after the novelty of the 'social importance' about being airline pilot wears out.

Another important factor - flight attendants are often chosen for their presentable looks so you have a disproportional amount of good-looking women. And the difference in status between pilots & flight attendants may be even higher than the doctor/nurse relationship. Example: nurses may still take your blood or give injections, while FA's usually just cater to your needs.

in this day and age...in many professions...fraternizing with fellow employees (might be considered harassment) is frowned upon heavily and you can be penalized or let go. Is that not the case in the airline industry??

Simple short answer: "Yes". Although, does it count as a date if there is no dinner and a movie first? (... and NO the dinner and movie on the plane don't count.)

Why is it "unfortunate" that pilots are 90% male, and flight attendants 70% female? No one is holding a gun to anyone's head and saying "You are female, get your ass back to coach and start serving coffee" Men and women tend to choose different careers and jobs. It's not like there are 100 qualified female applicants and 100 qualified male applicants for each and every commercial pilot position. The same could be said for a lot of difficult, dangerous, high paying jobs : Long haul trucker, lumberjack, coal miner, firefighter, cop, ironworker, Alaskan crab fisherman, etc. This is the biggest reason for the oft cited "wage gap" between men and women. When adjusted for things like career choice, education, certification, and experience, women with the same position make the same as men, there are just fewer women who want to become pilots and are willing to do the hard work and make the sacrifices necessary to do so. In other words, most women would rather serve coffee in coach than spend years studying avionics, physics and navigation while developing the skills and logging the hours necessary to earn a commercial pilot's license, especially since there is absolutely no guarantee anyone with said qualifications will find employment with an airline. It's a hell of a lot easier to become a flight attendant, and if you fail to find employment as such, you're not out much in terms of time, money, and effort spent gaining the necessary entry level skills. On top of that, those skills transfer to many service sector jobs, unlike the rather specialized skill of landing an Airbus 300 carrying 335 souls at in a blizzard with a 45kt crosswind under white-out conditions. You never hear anyone complaining about the lack of males in psychology, teaching, nursing, daycare, hairdressing, or flight attending either..... I really don't care what gender my pilot is, as long as they are skilled and attentive when it comes to flying the aircraft. I'd venture to say that even the biggest, butchest, hairiest, most militant, catsrating femenist women's studies professor would wan't the same - especially in that blizzard when the microbust strikes.

Question: What do you do if you really like a channel, but the intro and outro music is so blastingly *_LOUD_* that you're constantly rushing for the volume controls to turn them up and down that you often knock your tea of coffee all over your keyboard? Do you continue to subscribe? Or do you give up even though there are so many videos by that channel that look really interesting and compelling?

When a pilot is proposing a flight attendant to have a date, is doing so from a position of power. Isnt he in some or every way? Even if she is not under his direct supervision. What if the girl says no and the pilot wants to hurt her carreer in return? Isn't it as fishing from a tank? The fact that you never mention etical concerns gives me concern.

Everyone knows never ever marry a nurse or flight attendant. Unless you're into that kind of thing.

. . . so why should it be different in this occupation ? It is clearly proven, that 'romances' between coworkers encounter many times more often in a job situation than between e.g. evening out acquaintances in a pub or similar. Why? If you see that work times usually sum up to much higher numbers of hours at which you are able to get acquainted to others than in any other every day situation. What additionally counts (besides mutual attraction) for a possible long term harmony or even a short affair is to be confined in a field / area of similar interests (e.g. aviation, travelling, internationality, etc. . . . )
