This is a realistic May fly pattern that is specifically made to look like a larger March brown. These flies take a long time to make but do a great job at imitating a specific insect. The fact that you can catch the same fish with a metal spoon or a red bead and a corn kernel makes me wonder if we design lures for the fisherman rather than the fish. But it sure does look good.
