I did a mixture of this before. The tutorial shows clearly how important it is to have some space between the branches with leaves. I might also improve some of the trees on the picture that I'm painting now. Danke für die einfache Erklärung :)

I love that you show how not to do it, and how to do it slowly. It really helps. When I see amazing artists on youtube explain stuff, they make it seem so easy. lol
Yes I'm definitely going to try it because I just acquired some acrylics and brushes. I know how to sketch very well but have never painted. This gives me the confidence to at least try.

So was I- mine were getting to the point they looked cartoonish. Am so very glad I found this method ... am gonna use it on ALL my trees from now on ... even ones in the background as I think that would add to making my paintings look more realistic. 😻
I'm a complete beginner at painting. I started painting trees but it looks like the left one . I'm gonna try do the right one and use his techniques more :)
I was feeling sleepy before watching but it literally gave me energy and I watched till the end. This was soooooo worth watching. I love drawing tree( I try to draw trees😁) . I painted my 1st tree this week and it was not that bad but I need to practice more. I will be using your technic. Thank you so much
Thank you for sharing. I'm almost finished with an altered mixed media book all trees. Mostly Leafless. 🤷🏻♀️🤣 I may go back and add some leaves now! The 3rd highlight is what really gives it the dimension of Realism.

Hi. You have made it look so simple, very informative especially the depth of the foliage with all the different tones. I stopped painting in 1971 after I dropped out of high school. Now I'm 70 years and I bought a lot of brushes,paints etc. I cannot wait to get cracking. I'm definitely going to improve my art with your tutorials. ❤

I don't know your native language but I could not understand a word you said except for color & brush name--the rhythm of your speech pattern is way too fast and I even asked my 14 yr old granddaughter (young artist in family) if she could hear and understand but other than SEEING what you did--we could not understand any words! THE PAINTING was incredible! I do wish you'd take it just a little slower.
hi John! i have a question: when my painting was ready ( and i was pretty happy about it ) , i decided to paint a big tree in front of painting and of course put to much leaves on it(( (it happen before your lesson). is it possible to do something about it? your trees are gorgeous ,!
Hi John, thank you for this tutorial, which is very helpful. As you have not used retarder in this painting. When I do paintings, acrylic paints get dry up very soon on pallet and canvas too. So, mixing and matching shading are not getting done properly. What should I do? Should I use retarder or more water while doing painting? Or should I primmed my canvas before also with gesso for better result?

Can you teach me how to blend the paint cuz whatever I'm doing I'm doing it wrong cuz it's not blending my paint together when I'm using different colors for the background it's creating streaks on my paint and when I use my brush to prime it it always leaves chunks of little bubbles of paint on my wooden round board why is that about But the tree that's on the left, that's how I draw my trees 🤣
Am I using the wrong brushes? Even with a zero brush, I can't paint such a delicate line, the paintbrush tends to widen it on application. When it comes to the wider brush for the leaves, I just get nearly solid splotches, none of that fine filigree works as he shows. Tried using different pressure, different angles, it always comes out the same, why?

I also notice you have an extremely light grip on that brush for the wispy branches. Barely holding it, and at the end of the brush. I think I'm putting too much pressure when i push down and it's making fat branches when i want skinny ones.

I understand your directions and advice, good for beginners, but I disagree. It all depends on the kind of style or school the painter wants to do the tree or any other object in the painting. According to your comments and opinions, then the abstraction of a tree-like Mondrian, Kandinsky, or others did is a huge mistake. Today, in the 21st Century figurative art is not the unique rule. Watching your traces I also could ironize paraphrasing Magritte, ce ne sont pas des arbres.
I always kind of got the main trunk but then I couldn't get the way to branch out, it looked like an octopus was fighting its way out of a tree stump. This has been the best tutorial I saw ( obviously I did a lot of the Don't Do stuff) so this message is to thank you for sharing your talent . I painted a tree last night that my daughters actually praised ( and gave you credit, obviously!)
I was struggling to draw trees for almost three days searched for all youtube tree tutorial videos that was the best ! i'm able to draw a proper tree in acrylic thanks to you :) !
